  1. Got to love the fact that Playstation 3 was numero uno on Webhallen's top 20 preorder list before this announcement. Two hours later, it was fourth. It's fifth right now. Poor Sony.
  2. And therein lies the problem with you "hardcore" RPG players. **** the rules system, play the game as you see fit and have fun instead of whining about rules.
  3. You start with a small number of points to immediately spend on your character. That's all I know so far. I guess that's when you're allowed to customize your character just a little bit at least.. Just for the record: the Gothic games were never designed for people who like to play dress-up doll with their characters. Armour comes in ONE piece, the appearance of the main character is locked, the name is unknown. That's the way it is so people who want to feed their Barbie addiction should look at other games.
  4. Oh, I also have silly links regarding the news! http://ps3delay.ytmnd.com/ http://ps3nooooooooo.ytmnd.com/
  5. I wonder which will come out first: The Witcher or STALKER? Better yet; which will come out first: Dragon Age or Duke Nukem Forever?
  6. I can't believe Doom 3 has sold more copies than Half-Life 2 (according to that list)!
  7. The Gothic 3 gameworld is roughly three times the size of Gothic 2, so basically it's huuuge. They usually release mod tools after the game is released, and Gothic 2 had a lot of german mods (and I mean a lot). I don't expect Gothic 3 to be any worse. I think the developers have said they will release mod tools after release.
  8. I'm not so sure it's going to rock, but I have it on preorder already so I'm beyond the point of no retuuuurn!
  9. Yes. I think someone said the game starts by you having to fight an orc the first thing you do. Might be a rumour but it is certain that the hero is a powerful guy right from the start in Gothic 3. You will add perks to become more powerful, on top of the normal strength/dexterity advances.
  10. Not true. In Gothic 3 you will start quite powerful.
  11. Remember, Morgoth, you're arguing with the "hardcore" RPG'ers now. You know, the same people who went nuts over how Oblivion sucks because it didn't allow them to metagame the usual way they do in D&D? They actually claimed the game sucked because they "had" to metagame to be able to "maxx out their charzz".. They've learnt the D&D rules inside out and know exactly how to reroll their characters until they can dual class (or whatever it's called) into the two best combinations for total pwnage. As soon as a game comes along that doesn't follow these nerd rules their world comes crumbling down and they come to the conclusion the game must suck. Personally I couldn't care less if the "hardcore" RPG'ers on these boards like Gothic 3 or not. I just hope I will like it as much as I have liked the first two parts.
  12. http://www.eurogamer.net/article.php?article_id=67341 Haha, talk about a deathblow to Sony. The new Blu-Ray lasers aren't ready in time so they have to delay the release in Europe. In the US and Japan it will still be released in November, but only in very small quantities. Sony should have learnt from Microsoft: a worldwide release is NOT an easy task to pull off. Now they'll look even dumber than Microsoft..

    NHL

Poor guy hasn't played a single game in the NHL yet and crazed Pittsburgh fans are already calling him MalKing.. I like his style though. I've seen him in several international tournaments and the kid has a really mean streak about him, on top of his obvious skill, speed and talent. I really hope he uses that mean streak in the NHL too.
  14. Still playing Silent Storm. My character is around level 9 now, but it's quite annoying how he levels up. I get to spend one ability point per level, but all these abilities doesn't exactly seem to do anything! It's annoying that I have so far spent 9 points and nothing exciting has happened. I wish the abilities added something to the game instead of just increasing numbers behind the game. Like a new skill. Or a new way of firing my weapon. SOMETHING. Also, the weapons are quite boring. They all have such similar statistics that I forget which weapon is the one I've chosen to use, so I just end up taking one randomly and go with that. It's not like the missions get any more difficult or easy depending on which weapon clone you choose.
  15. About the ponytail: the real model for the main character has not yet been shown. The model we're seeing in all the movies and pictures is just some random NPC that resembles the nameless hero. You can tell by checking his hair: there's no ponytail and his hair is brown, not blonde as it should be. Piranha Bytes are keeping the final main character model secret until release, for some odd reason. You can read about this on the Gothic 3 official forums.
  16. Cool ingame video (although in bad quality):
  17. Yeah, you're right. But I think I am willing to put up with a little blurryness just to make sure I am somewhat future-safe. Yes, I am fooling myself, shut up.
  18. "Whatever you do in the game will impact your overall reputation, and this is important since there are so many factions that will take that into account. If you want to help the orcs, for example, you'll have to battle in the arena, starting small and then working your way up to the big coliseum battles. Prove you're good enough to survive those, and the orcs will respect you. On the other hand, help out the humans, and you'll find yourself on the bad side of the orcs. All the choices that you make will have an impact on the ending. In fact, when you do complete the game, you'll be presented with a montage of all your decisions, which will help explain how you arrived at your particular ending." Sounds like a Fallout-ish kind of ending. I like that. Source: http://www.gamespot.com/pc/rpg/gothic3/news.html?sid=6155204
  19. Wow.. I think I've just witnessed a rare creature which we all thought were extinct: a Lionheart fan! It's.. so.. beautiful.. :'(
  20. I was going to say, "Make sure you get a TV that can display 1080p!" but I guess you already made your purchase. I've got my eyes on this Toshiba LCD-TV: http://www.toshibatec-tnd.com/page.html?cid=1491&pid=0 It's fast (8ms), big (42 inches) and can display 1080p. Only problem is the price, but it is dropping fast.. Only last week it went from 35000 SEK ($4900) to 30000 SEK ($4200) in Sweden. If you import it from Germany you can get it for around 21000 SEK ($2933).
  21. For ATI, try ATITool For Nvidia, try Rivatuner. Not saying these are the best (although for ATI, I really believe ATITool is the best..), but they are commonly used and pretty user-friendly.
  22. With a little luck the game looks more like this (if the link works): These distant mountains doesn't look blurred. Much more Gothic-styled.
  23. I saw a little boy, about like.. three feet high, catch a pidgeon with his bare hands in Barcelona. He was like "HEEHEEHEE!" and ran up to his mom with the poor bird in a firm two-hand grip. His mom screamed like a stung pig and forced the boy to release his rather squeezed new friend.
  24. It's weird. I love Gothic. I love Gothic 2 even more. I love Wasteland more than.. uh.. I mean I love the Gothic's. But not even my fanboyism can cover up the fact that the art direction has taken a turn for the worse since Gothic 2. And since I am a fanboi of the Gothic series and still can see the flaws in my most anticipated game, I have to ask the question: How can creatures like Volourn keep defending games like Neverwinter Nights, spouting stuff like "the main story was better than most rpg's out there" and "the models weren't blocky, they were pretty"..? Does this mean i am bad at fanboying over stuff? I would loved for Gothic 3 to have Oblivion crushing visuals, but I am not worried about graphics (as long as they work), I'm more worried about the new combat system than anything else. Apparently it's much more actiony now, kind of resembling games like Prince of Persia more than Gothic 2. I hope they've managed to pull it off in the way that it still feels like an RPG and not just some free-roaming action game.
  25. No, I wasn't being sarcastic. A bios is usually like 256KB. A default BIOS should be able to fit into a small ROM module on any piece of equipment. A simple default switch would then activate the ROM module BIOS instead of the flashable BIOS memory, or (even better) reflash the BIOS with the default program from the ROM memory. I don't understand why failing a BIOS flash should be an instant way of turning your equipment into a brick. I know some motherboards have those default switches, but it's not any sort of standard (as far as I know) and I jave never seen it on a GPU.
