  1. The FX3 isn't supposed to be released until the end of this month (September). I don't know much about the LZ3 unfortunately. The camera I'm setting my sights on is the DMC-TZ1. A compact 10x optical zoom camera. It won the TIPA 2006 Superzoom award. A bit expensive though.
  2. I would recommend the Fujifilm Finepix F11 (if you can find it). It usually sells for around

Tie Domi retired. I guess I should feel.. something, but I don't. I've never liked skill-less players who make their living going out on the ice once or twice per game to fight the other team's goon. That was one of the worst parts of the old NHL. Hopefully it won't be back.
  4. First good news I've heard about Bioware in a long time. Their simplistic type of games would work great on the DS. I have a friend who owns a DS Lite that I can borrow. Would be fun to play a handheld linear cinematic RPG with a story about someone suffering from amnesia and waking up in some sort of school.. )
  5. Quixotic, an Obsidian VIP? What did I miss?
  6. I am so getting this.
  7. Great. I went into this thread thinking, "Please, let noone have mentioned my favourite villain yet!" and BOOM, the second post (Hurlshot, you jerk!), there he was. Alan Rickman in Die Hard. Oh well.
  8. What the heck is happening in this picture?
  9. A delay is always annoying, but it's also a sign of people trying to do the right thing, i.e. not releasing an unfinished game. Either that or Atari has some "plan" with this delay for marketing purposes. I doubt it though. Oh, and Battlesucky, you are inherently negative and whiny. Why do you even bother?

They let in four powerplay goals.. and scored none. Great start!

  12. A few new videos: http://gothic-rpg.com/gc_videa1.php3?hra=Gothic3&jazyk=en In one of the videos, there appears to be an entire city contained within a magical barrier, just like the entire island was in the original Gothic! Very cool. Also, Piranha Bytes have confirmed that they are already hard at work on an expansion pack for Gothic 3. Geez, let us at least play the game first, will ya?
  13. If you live in the US there's a Gothic 3 lottery going on right now. http://gothic3.aspyr.com/default/contest If you enter and win, you can win a high-end PC, hand painted in some Gothic 2 motif. You can also win copies of the game and t-shirts. Just a heads up.
  14. ..stupid finns and their butt-ugly language..
  15. Depends on how you see it. In Sweden a lot of the research and preservation of cultural "treasures" is funded by the government. Different institutions get different fixed budgets every year, to make sure that our history, our art, our heritage etc. isn't lost in time. Since they have fixed budgets, they have become very stagnant. The same group of people work there for 40 years, until they retire (or die) and then they hire someone new. Even if a new field of research pops up, it will be very difficult to integrate it with the existing personnel because of the stagnation. I've had to help old ladies read their email because they just don't know which buttons to push. Anyhow, the government realized the problem and started a project called Access. It's basically a big pile of money that these institutions can apply for, and use to hire new, competent people. Because of a very weird budget system (don't get me started on that one..) they haven't had money to hire new people for years, so Access is actually working very well in this regard. It gives unemployed academics a foothold in institutions that until recently have been very closed. And it gives institutions that have been extremely stagnant access (hah!) to new competence and a new cast of members. Win-win situation. Besides, Sweden is a fairly rich country (fortunately) so we can afford to spend money on non-commercial interests.
  16. I am being paid by the government. I sign work contracts for one year at a time. The project I am working on is supposed to take at least three years, which means I would have a permanent job by the end of the period (you are legally bound to offer a person a position within your company if he/she has worked long enough for you in like projects, consulting etc.). If the wrong party wins, they will say "this project is a failure" (which it isn't) just because they did not start it themselves, and they will cancel it. It sucks.
  17. NHL 07 got 82% and NHL 2k7 got 83% so this year it really doesn't matter which version you choose at least. Source: http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/nhl07/review.html and http://www.gamespot.com/xbox360/sports/nhl2k7/review.html Unfortunately, the Xbox, Playstation 2 and PC versions of the game are just more of the same from last year. Apparently they didn't even try to invent this time. I guess they're considered "dead tech", but why the PC is included in that package is beyond me. Explains why alan is a bit disappointed at least. 18. There! I've cast my vote! 5 minutes after the voting chamber opened, I was there. We were only 5-6 people in there so I guess I was one of the first in the country to vote. It always makes me happy when I go to vote and I see young people, old people and strange people. I dont care what they vote for, I'm just glad that they care enough to vote. It makes me feel like our swedish democracy is working. We used to have up to 90% of the people voting, but in recent years it has dropped to around 80%. I don't know why, but I would hate to see Sweden become another US, where less than 50% votes. I don't want to live in a country where people don't care.
  19. There are no mounts in Gothic 3
  20. God, I hate you nerds and your fear of women. How the hell can it be difficult to ask another person something? Just throw out the ****ing question and see where life takes you! And my new, expensive PSU ($160) is making weird noises already.
  21. Shoo from our Gothic 3 thread, NWN-lovers!
  22. Some nut took the time to write down a preview from PC Gamer (US version), so here it is: A lot of Oblivion references. Not unexpected, but still a bit annoying.
  23. Just a few tidbits of new info: Gothic 3 will natively support widescreen gaming. It was possible to change the .ini file for both Gothic and Gothic 2 to support widescreen gaming, but not everyone knows how to do that. Gothic 2 Gold had widescreen gaming implemented in the menu, just like Gothic 3 will have. Also, although the Piranha Bytes team have done their best to sort out any bugs, there will be an official patch released on 13'th October. Same day as the release of the game that is. Expect a bug-fest if you buy Gothic 3 early! Both Gothic and Gothic 2 were released in Germany over six months before they were translated to english. By the time international players got hold of the game, it had been patched 3-4 times already. Gothic 3 is the first time Piranha Bytes releases both the international and the german version at (almost) the same time. Will be interesting to see what the germans have had to go through..
  24. It's not exactly uncommon to prefer the original over its sequels, despite lower production values like nonexistant sound and crappy graphics. I remember liking Pool of Radiance on my Commodore 64 much more than it's countless sequels, despite having to manually cast spells of healing every 8 hours in rest mode, random battles that took 30 minutes at a time, juggling 8 floppy discs (with the accompanying 5 minute loading times) and a whole lot of other flaws. The first scar is the deepest!!1
