Belfour is currently unemployed. You should write to the Rangers that they should fire Lundqvist and take Belfour instead. I think Lundqvist would look good in a Leafs jersey.

Am I allowed to vote even though I submitted a few smileys? 1) 1 2) 8 3) 9 4) 11 5) 21 (we need it to summon Fionavar..) 6) 43 7) 44 Those are actually the only ones I want added.. and half of those are my own suggestions! How embarrassing. Edit: Oohh, I forgot one! 12

Me and Kaftan are both slaves under Webhallen.

Nope, I'm just happy to see Aspyr treat you second rate citizens the way you should be treated )

Isn't that the best picture ever?! Yes, it is Ovechkin in a Toronto Maple Leafs toque

Yes, that is correct. Why aren't you still using that old 286? Not enough GFLOPS. Nintendo survives by providing great gameplay experiences. That still doesn't excuse a 729 MHz processor with 64 MB of 243 MHz RAM and a 243 MHz GPU with 24 MB of 486 MHz RAM (exactly the same as the Gamecube, except Nintendo claims it is 1.5x faster..) for $250. Oh, I forget. You also get a defunct DVD-player for that price, plus a gimmicky controller that noone knows how it works in reality. I really hope the nunchuck (or whatever it's called) is fantastic. Both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 are more expensive. On the other hand, they won't feel like dinosaurs in two years time (hopefully). Is it worth the extra $$$? Who knows.

We have Raycroft as a supposed starter. Then we have Jean-Sebastien Aubin, who did really well at the end of the season as a backup-turned-panicky-starter. After that we have Mikael Tellqvist. He got the chance as a starter last year after Eddie broke his back (or whatever) but he blew it. He really blew it. I've totally lost confidence in Tellkvist after that run. I just can't see him ever becoming a starting goalie in the NHL. I don't believe he has what it takes, whether it is a mental problem or other. This is strange, because he has performed well on the international scene and before that in the swedish leagues. I always thought that if only he'd get the chance to prove himself, he would take the number one spot. Andrew Raycroft had the ****tiest stats of all goalies in the NHL last season (if not exactly THE ****tiest, then one of the top three ****tiest). Ferguson and Maurice are hoping he will turn back into the Calder winning super goalie he once was. Personally I am worried he will turn into Jim Carey v2.0 and be in hiding by the end of november.

The Wii for $250. I don't know, for a console that can't do HD, can't playback movies (not even the old DVD format) and is, in fact, a spiced up Gamecube, I musy say I feel it is overprized. Nintendo is the only company that churns out consoles without going into the red for it, but this time it feels like they want to make a profit out of them too. A huge profit, considering what is hidden in that junk of plastic. It's not exactly top of the line hardware.. No wonder Nintendo doesn't want this to be about hardware specs. People would look at the specs and go "What?! How the hell can this **** cost $250?!". I wouldn't reveal my hardware specifications either if I was Nintendo. The Xbox 360 is looking better and better in my eyes. I would probably get one if it weren't for that awful Xbox Live. I refuse to pay twice for my internet connection (once to my ISP and once to Microsoft.. for allowing me to play my $70 multiplayer games on the internet!). I can't believe people are willing to cough up the same amount of money per month as the people who play World of Warcraft pays.. just to be able to connect to other players online. And the price of the games goes on top of that! Insane. The Playstation 3.. It sounded good a year ago. New, exciting technology. "Free" internet service (well, free in the sense that you were supposed to be able to play multiplayer games over the internet without having to pay Sony any money..). Blu-Ray movies. True HD gaming. Now it's just a mess. And as usual it's Europe that gets shafted. I feel like boycotting Sony (and probably Nintendo) for always treating Europe like second rate citizens. I could take a few weeks of delays (localization problems) but delaying the European release until March?! **** you Sony. I'm guessing I'll keep playing Singstar on my Playstation 2 until 2010 or so, and spend all my money on upgrading my PC instead.

I believe they're hard at work learning the Unreal Engine 3. Unfortunately for us, they'll more than likely be working on a console exclusive now, but after that.. maybe they'll do another PC game. A Transformers game is probably out of the question.. But a Masters of the Universe-RPG is not! )

Uhm.. If the Leafs had Kiprusoff in goal, I'd not only be singing the gospel, I'd be doing the balloon dance on my office table. In the nude. With my pubic hair on fire. We have Andrew Raycroft. Andrew Raycroft.

They erased my edit <{POST_SNAPBACK}> What..? Noone has touched mine, and it's been a lot of hours since I did the edit. What did you try to add?

Ooh. I just tried the editing function in Wikipedia. I added a few details to the Gothic 3 stub. So far noone's disputed me )

At least I found out today that the game has a setting for turning off that "blurry background" effect for long distance viewing! Great news for me! Also, there are a bunch of new, very pretty screenshots on that russian site that we already linked to in this thread. I'll link it again for convenience. http://www.crpg.ru/modules.php?op=modload&...howgall&gid=273 I can't find the gay ponytail on the main hero anymore Someone must have cut his hair! Oh noez!!

Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel was an average game. It was made using a great engine, had good graphics and an extremely pleasing setting. To me. Unfortunately, it was also not Fallout, it was badly written (with some of the most pathetic characters ever) and strictly linear. It did provide a few hours of fun in co-op though. And saying that someone loses credibility for liking a game that you don't like is stupid, at best.

Most of wikipedia is right, some of it is not. Just like every encyclopedia ever written. I don't think it's better and I don't think it's worse. I would not use a wikipedia article as a source for my scientific report, but I do use it when I am writing personal stuff on an internet geek board. What people seem to forget is that there is no absolute truth. No matter how many experts and scientists and researchers you have to write an article, you'll always end up in the same situation as the wikipedia one: people have different opinions about everything and unless the subject is somehow provable to 100%, you're going to have to compromise. That's how each and every article in a "professional" encyclopedia was made, only on a smaller scale. I even saw a study where someone had compared a "real" encyclopedia with wikipedia and it turned out that the difference in correctness was only about 1-2%.

The thing everyone seems to be hung up upon is that YOU can exist in two different places at the same time. If the machine copied you, destroyed the original and made a clone somewhere else a few seconds later, you seem to be fine with it, because then you were never two entities. If the machine copied you, made a clone somewhere else and THEN destroyed you, you don't seem to be fine with it, because then, for a split second, there's one "you" and one clone (even if they're exactly the same for that split second). But the effect is the same! At one split second, you and the clone are exactly the same (in the case of the copying teleporter). The only thing that would differ would be the material (atoms and molecules) making up your body. But since our bodies constantly renew themselves and each and every atom in our bodies are only there for a loan for a relatively short time, this makes no difference. If the machine had a significant delay between the destruction of the first you and the creation of the second you, the entities would become different physical persons, because the atoms would have time to change their states.

FEAR: Extraction Point.. Good or just more of the same?

Surprised that no one has posted this yet...

I think it's kind of neat that they have a good and an evil version of the same game. Of course, I'd be mighty pissed if it turned out I got the Lawful Good version though. I WANT THE RED ONE. -
<{POST_SNAPBACK}> Irrational have designed Bioshock too look like that, it's not part of some "trend", modern, artistic or otherwise. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Well, I disagree. I believe the "problem" lies in normal mapping (like someone already pointed out) and shaders. I think it takes time to make shaders that doesn't look plastic, and since shaders (v3.0) are a relatively new technique they all resemble each other and they all look slightly plastic. Hence my trend remark (it's not really a trend though). What you pointed out is artistic design (analog looking devices and stuff from the fifties) while I am talking about mostly textures, lighting and nasty bloom effects. The game itself sounds highly attractive though. If half of what he claims comes true, it will be one hell of a game. I just wonder how they will handle loading times.. I've recently noticed that the biggest immersion breaker for me is loading screens and long loading times. I absolutely hate when the game visibly loads something every second step I take, like in the old game Clive Barker's Undying. I could never play that game because I saw more loading screens than actual gameplay.

The excessive hand gesturing during conversations has been around since Gothic (and also in Gothic 2) so for me it just feels like Gothic to see them flail around while talking about the weather etc. The gameworld has always been what's fascinated me about the Gothic-series. The part they're showing in the video is (probably) indicative of the game itself, and not some part they've chosen to show off for maximum effect. Even in Gothic the NPC's behaved like people. I remember spending hours just walking around observing daily life in the first castle. People were chatting, fighting, watching gladiator games, eating, gathering around campfires and even getting up after one too many beer to take a leak. And the pee was yellow (most games censor pee and make it white)! The only problem I can foresee about Gothic 3 will be the system demands. It looks like it has been badly optimized this time as even all the promotional videos show massive framedrops and stuttering gameplay. Let's just hope the game is still enjoyable even if the technical part is not 100%.
