I love it when you want to race in GTA4 and you spend 20 minutes trying to find a fast car, and when you finally do, THIS is what you'll be seeing 30 seconds later.. I love how it looks like even Niko is looking at the row of cars, going "What the hell!".

I had forgotten how good No One Lives Forever 2 was. Of course, I had also forgotten how annoying infinitely respawning enemies are.

Huh. Maybe I want a Playstation 3 after all..

Gohtic 2 had a working brothel (50 gold for one night, baby!) and an animated cutscene of your character having sex with a prostitute. BALLS.

As always, Musopticon? is grossly overexaggerating. And where is this superior writing that you emo kids must be referring to since everything else has "cringeworthy" writing (and dialogue)?
-
"Master Chief".. sigh. The next game I play I want my character to be named "Gigantic Phallus-symbol"!!

Dark Messiah would have been awesome if you'd had to lure your opponents into traps and use some skill to find those barrels that come raining down. But instead the developers chose not to trust the player and absolutely LITTERED every level with obvious setups that took out any and all challenge from the game. I basically went through the entire game using only the forward kick because no matter where you kicked someone, they would immediately fall into spikes on the wall/roaring fireplace/barrel-filled overhand/deep chasms/etc. That game is probably the most stupid game I've ever played.

Any awesome animations when using Gun feats?
mkreku replied to Zoma's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Funny you should mention that, because I've never used "heatless image" or "remote". I think I used strength because it allowed me to jump down from buildings (or was that another one?). I'm pretty sure that the others weren't useless though, except for maybe one or two. -
I made a save file just before I exit Vault 101. That way I can start a new character just before you get to make your final choices. As usual with Bethesda games.. you should have learnt by now.

Vancouver is going to play Toronto soon. Then we'll see how classy the fans are. Will they cheer their captain for over a decade or will the boo the traitor? It will be interesting to see. Personally I hope the Toronto fans show some class and cheer for him. I'm not so fond of the booing generally either.

In a game where you follow hawks to jump off the highest buildings possible and land unharmed in shallow haystacks, your biggest problem is that dying people can utter a few words? Genius at work.

One thing I don't understand is the constant attacks on Assassin's Creed's dialogue. If you don't count the dialogue in the contemporary times parts, I thought the dialogue was excellent! And I really liked that you always got a chance to talk to your victims after the assassination. Get their side of the story, instil a seed of hesitation and doubt in the player. The only times I ever noticed that anything was unskippable was during the lab dialogue.

The Leafs lead by three going into the final period.. and ultimately loses. That has happened a billion time this season. It's like they're trying to lose. Which they probably are. Ugh. At least it's nice to see Sundin coming back to form, just on the wrong team.

Great, Sweden has gotten its own Hades. I'm not thrilled.

So, uh. EA/Starbreeze working on a new Bourne game
mkreku replied to Jason Bourne's topic in Computer and Console
Yeah, and the horrible thing is that I took a computer games programming course here at the uni and they were guess lecturers at one point. So naturally I asked them what they'd do if they got free reigns (funding and time). They said "Post apocalyptic RPG in the Wasteland spirit"! I was like "PLEASE GOD LET A PLANE FILLED WITH MONEY CRASH ON THEIR OFFICES!!" but there is no god. -
Playing Fallout 3 on and off and I finally found all 20 bobbleheads!! The last one (for me it was the Unarmed one) was incredibly difficult to find! It was almost by accident that I found it. I mean I had gotten clues about it (the location I found it in) from an earlier quest, but this was different. Easily the most hidden place I've found in the wasteland so far. Most other hidden stuff are at least visible and look like you should manipulate them.. not this time. By the way, I had no idea how much I had missed during my first playthrough. I got bored with the DC tunnel system the last time I played, but this time I explored them all.. and found places I had never seen before. I wonder how long the game can keep this up? According to my loading screen stats, I've found something like 152 mapped places. How many more can there be..? And don't answer that, it's a rhetorical question. As long as I keep finding new stuff, I'll keep playing. It's by no means a perfect game, but it really is damn good.

Perhaps. Maybe it's like patients coming to the doctor.. or maybe they're like junkies coming to their dealer.. or maybe it's the one eyed man being king in the land of the blind.. or maybe it's just easier to hang around people who are as doomed as oneself. You tell us.

A good game generally has good animations. Why should a RPG be measured by any lesser standards? Watch the videos again. I don't care about the slow movements, I care more about how they don't seem to interact with each other, even in combat. The swords are swinging but nothing reacts. A few numbers fly around, that's it. Check them when they're turning in their little circles. They don't move their feet, they just swivel around their own axis. Check out the mage casting spells. It looks like an animation from the eighties where you had like five frames that repeated over and over because of memory constraints. It looks stiff, unnatural and bad enough to actually detract from the game. Some games have decent enough animations that you don't immediately notice them (that was Gothic 3 for me, which I have no idea why you guys even bring up in this thread), some games have such brilliant animation systems that you actually jump around and trip willingly over stuff just to see what your character will do next (Uncharted: Drake's Fortune) and some games have such bad sets of animation that it's actually disturbing. Again, there's no reason to judge a RPG lighter than any other genre just because it's an RPG. If an RPG chooses to have combat as a vital part of its gameplay mechanics, then I sure as hell want that combat to be fun, demanding and challenging. Of course, it's difficult to see from those short videos what kind of combat the final product will have, but so far it's looking as bad as Neverwinter Nights 2 combat. I don't mind dress-up doll combat if it's done well (Silent Storm, Jagged Alliance 2), let's hope this one is more fun than it looks right now. I prefer interfaces that are clean and non-obtrusive. What I've seen so far from Dragon Age indicates that it will be filled with buttons and meters and everything else and his grandma cluttering up the screen. I personally hate that. Apparently you guys don't mind.

And historically, that's a really, really bad thing. Intel has never been able to compete with either Nvidia or ATI. They are (so far) several generations behind in the GPU field.

Is it expensive to have real gun models in a game? I mean, lots of games have that. And I would definitely prefer to find a Dragunov instead of a Gradunov in the game, that's for sure. I know having real car models comes with a lot of rules and do's and don'ts.. and probably a load of cash.
-
I can't believe people seem to like those videos. I was certain everyone would be like "That looks like CRAP!", but you guys don't seem to be disturbed at all?! Personally I thought it looked absolutely horrible. Bad animations, bad camera angles, atrocious combat, even the interface looked like a complete World of Warcraft-ripoff! I must be really starved for a RPG since I'm still hoping this will be playable.

I just have to mention that I've bought games from Gamersgate before and when it had a downloader it SUCKED!! My copy of Puzzle Quest refused to work when I downloaded it, I had to go to an unofficial forum to download some special DLL-file and place in the correct folder for it to eventually work! It was cheap, but still.. horrible, horrible service. I have not tried them after they've removed their worthless piece of **** downloader though, so they might be a lot better now. I'm not giving them any more of my money though.

Good win for the Leafs tonight. It's too late to salvage the season but it's still helpful for team pride. Not so good for the "Tavares pick" apparently. I dislike the idea of a team folding to get a better pick at the draft though, so I welcome any win the Leafs can scrape together.
