  1. Skyrim has been blissfully smooth for me, if only because they seem to have finally solved the age old Bethesda crashes on PC, I've had a couple of broken quests but absolutely nothing that can't be corrected with a few console commands. I can totally understand the rage of PS3 users though, Bethesda nailed their nuts to the wall with the 11-11-11 release date, shoddy behaviour
  2. It's OK but not so hot as a single player game, it's a bit like an FPS version of Dead Rising without the humour, I never completed it.
  3. I'm fifty something hours into my second game, still enjoying the dual wielding and destruction magic, summons are also handy but they nerfed the selection, I found a mod that brings spell perks in line with the weapon perks, letting you eventually do double damage, it makes magic feel more worthwhile. One thing I found amusing is how I can't bring myself to join the Legion, I'm surprised at how many people who saw the Imperials as the good guys
  4. Interesting stuff, I love Sawyer's enthusiasm, I remember a Morrowind dev doing the same thing years back, when I get around to New Vegas again I'll be sure to test out the mod.
  5. Yeah, the humble bundles are probably what got me hooked on buying up cheap stuff on Steam To be honest I only got it to see what all the DX11 fuss was about, I don't know if the game will hold my attention for very long, I get this issue with all FPS's, RPG's suck my life away though...
  6. I got a couple of things, AVP and Arkham Asylum being the big names and a few indie/low budget games for good measure.
  7. That's one ugly looking layout.
  8. I agree, Morrowind's plot was heavy stuff, it's harder to judge Skyrim, the civil war really should be thought of as part of the MQ, the actual Alduin killing part alone was pretty damn short but I genuinely had fun, not much late night pondering of philosophy though As for my game, I'm about 14 hours into my second character, a Dunmer dual wielder/destruction mage, having lots of fun zipping around in light armour and dealing good damage, so far I've been happy with the re-playability, this character plays differently to my Nord brute.
  9. I'm a stickler for keeping things as close to 60fps as possible, though for one reason or another (patches or driver update) the FPS drops don't feel so sluggish this time around.
  10. Looks like the TESV Acceleration Layer really works, I'm getting a definite min FPS boost in cities, every little helps, some people are reporting issues but I played for 7 hours just fine.
  11. Here's something cool, apparently Bethesda forgot to tick a few boxes when compiling the PC executable, people are claiming up to a 40% boost in CPU heavy areas.
  12. Looks like I'll be reinstalling Skyrim for a while, tracking down a really persistent crash in New Vegas led me to Project Nevada, it took me a week of testing and I've had to sacrifice a 30+ hour game, I really don't want to play without PN so I'm going to wait and see if the authors can fix it. I'll pass the time back in Skyrim
  13. I need to get around to finishing Walden, I remember being hugely impressed with the author's intellect, modern writing has lost that level of insane descriptive detail, a falling leaf is now just a falling leaf, embellishment seems pretentious.
  14. I recently watched Cowboys And Aliens which was surprisingly good, not without some cliched bull**** moments but I enjoyed it, The Inbetweeners movie was also good, cheap fun. I tried to watch Rise of the Planet of the Apes but felt completely uninterested, all the product placement, terribly obvious CG apes and boring characters really put me off.
  15. Yeah I don't doubt a large amount of people are genuinely brainwashed to the point of devastation, the rest will be paid mourners, it's hilarious and tragic...tragilarious? tragilicious? One of those
  16. North Koreans weeping hysterically over the death of Kim Jong-il Farewell dear leader.
  17. The dialogue, lore usage and plot lines are a definite step up in my opinion, I still need to spend a lot more time with Skyrim to decide if the world design is better though, I really loved Fallout 3's wasteland, Skyrim feels a bit like a Nordic themed amusement park, time will tell.
  18. Re-installing New Vegas and starting again, pretty pissed off about it but I think my choice of mods has screwed my current game, it seems to be Project Nevada but I'm not 100% sure until I can do some testing on a fresh install...mods are a blessing and a curse *edit* While it's on my mind, I've decided New Vegas is better than Skyrim, maybe not in the world design/dungeon delving department but in *all* other areas it conquers.
  19. Yeah it's a DX11 feature, from what I've heard it runs like **** on all cards for the moment, ATI may be worse though, glad I jumped ship back to Nvidia. I've been meaning to get Arkham City but I dislike having GFWL on my PC
  20. Exactly what I was thinking
  21. I've still got a terrifying amount of the game to see, I'll wait a few months and see how the DLC and mods are shaping up though.
  22. I've been getting regular crashes after the 30 hour mark, luckily narrowed it down to Project Nevada, well, lucky I'm not going insane wondering what's causing it but not so lucky in that I really like Project Nevada
  23. Your right to sell on a computer game is exactly the same as your right to sell on a dvd or paperback after you've had your full enjoyment, I really dislike attempts to turn personal entertainment into a rental service. Having said that, I can understand why developers would be worried by these massive superstores getting in on the act, that isn't quite the same as personal sales or your typical second hand games dealership. I like the idea of games you don't want to sell, I'd never sell my copies of New Vegas, Skyrim or any other decent RPG for that matter...if I had a choice that is, yay Steamworks
  24. Maria is possibly talking about the resistance you get when you push down the retainer bar, it can feel quite weird putting that much pressure on such an expensive little thing.
  25. Point Lookout is probably my favourite DLC, I've not tried the New Vegas ones yet but soon I will, yes my precious, soooon
