FO: NV (DLCS) Discussion
Good to know, thanks. I'll be jumping back into New Vegas when I want to flush Skyrim out of my head, it would be nice if Obsidian can chuck out a final patche though, especially with the ultimate sooper dooper edition coming out.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
The problem with that system is that no users get to play the game until after it's released, plus the fact that gamers tend to get *massively* unbalanced about personal dislikes during the first few weeks of a game's launch I do agree about IMDB though, the user score has rarely steered me wrong. *edit* I should add that gamers also get insanely unhinged over things they really like. I agree, I can't really explain how "Dragon shouts" can completely turn me off a game, but they still did. Yeah, I'm pretty much the opposite, I'd been curious about Thu'um for years, when I found out the game was set in Skyrim I giggled (probably not) like a schoolgirl

Battlefield vs Call of Duty
I burnt out on COD years ago but Black Ops was a pretty decent thrill ride, Battlefield's multiplayer is far more involving for me though, plus you get to avoid all that military porn and "plots" made of pure propaganda.

I'm curious how stable New Vegas is these days, Fallout 3 got quite rickety as more and more DLC got bolted on and I've heard murmurings of the same for NV, are Obsidian working on any final patches?

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Eurogamer hands out plenty of low scores but I'll grant you that 10/10 is always suspicious to me, the Bethluminati must be pulling their dastardly strings, a cruel conspiracy to keep humanity playing games that you don't like

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
Soooo I just cancelled my pre-order and bought it on Steam, I'm pre-loading now and hopefully unlocking tomorrow when I get home, I don't mind losing the map as they'll end up on eBay eventually. I'm genuinely quite excited but also concerned for my social life, mostly I'll just be glad to get into the game and de-hype myself *edit*

What you did today
It's good to see you back here Tarna, I don't know you from Adam but over the past few weeks I've found myself randomly wishing you well, welcome back

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I just saw a leaked clip and I have but one thing to say...a Dunmer with a c0ckney accent. Pre-order cancelled *edit* bloody swear filter.

What the hell? Is she going to make herself a nice cozy cat hat or something?
-
What are you playing now?
Yeah, I like this technology plateau we're on at the moment, most stuff runs well and looks good, games also appear to be benefiting from extra time spent on design rather than tech but maybe it's just been a good year for games.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I'm not ashamed to admit that the anticipation is getting to me, when New Vegas came out I couldn't wait for my special edition box so I bought another copy on steam and unlocked it via VPN...got to resist the temptation.

Dungeon Siege III ships 820K units.
I wanted the game to do well for Obsidian as it's solidly coded and well thought out, ultimately I didn't buy it as the characters and world felt flat to me, I never got into the first two games so I just didn't have the connection I'm glad the game seems to have done "ok" at least.

As much as I'd love levitation to return, modding it into Oblivion or Skyrim would break the game, you might as well just type noclip into the console
-
Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
I remember when I first realised that I had to levitate to get up to the towers, definitely a cool moment.

Oblivion got high marks across the board when it came out. I think it's metacritic rating is even higher than Fallout 3 or Fallout:NV. And to my eternal shame I went on to enjoy it for hundreds of hours

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
A magazine called Atomic has given Skyrim 95%, you can find scans if you search around, the game is mostly praised apart from a few AI issues.

I don't think loading times will be an issue, definitely sharing your concern about crashes though, we all know the core of this engine has been rotting for years, fingers crossed they patched it up.

Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
It's a matter of days now, got to admit I'm getting more anxious about it but mostly on the technical side of things, I've been burned by quite a few pre-ordered games this last year or two. I noticed a thread about rain still passing through roofs and buildings, which I find strange as modders have had that one fixed for a long time in Morrowind

Grand Theft Auto 5
I really wanted to enjoy GTA IV but the PC release was a debacle, I ended up getting it for PS3 instead and I still couldn't get into it, you just don't get the sensation of speed when the frame rate keeps dropping below 30.
