why did they think repetitive mining is a fun gameplay element? starflight has it, star control 2 borrows it, mass effect 2 uses it! i can stand mining in me2 since it's only an upgrade bonus, but the older games need mining to survive and progress!

a missionary from my church once told me that only half of dozen single-player pc games got published in china every year and most of them is either from japan or homemade jrpg. so you can only buy all-new second-hand games from homeland ebay-like platforms and get screwed by dlc schemes e.g. batman arkham city, or buy from digitial distributors when concerned publishers don't enforce regional restriction (whose number grow considerably, including last year sega, 2K, batman arkham city and now even kingdoms of amalur). in similar way, you can only buy smuggled xbox or ps since sony's scheme of disgusing ps3 as multimedia product failed under the scrunity of the keen eyes of chinese officials and businessmen. nintendo broke through the barrier by using a front company registered in china and sponsored by abc organization from america. but only a dozen of games released on respective platform. one reason is that china has become the paradise of mmo, especially so-called free ones. south korean and russian have realized this truth. if china takes over world games industry, only indie single-player games have the inherent ability to survive. another reason is the games are considered as a cultural weapon similar to movies.

finally got around to play arkham city, and is driven crazy by the fine scheme of wb games. 1. strip selina out of the game 2. regional restrict the vanilla game on steam few days before release day 3. ship boxed games with a grand chance of redeem code missing 4. regional restrict the dlc purchasing on windows marketplace while it actually sells the vanilla game 5. ask for solid proof for first-hand purchasing which excludes ebay-like platform 6. ? 7. profit!

there is no qte in la noire unless you count fistfight, gun shooting or dialog choosing.

thq publishes sci-fi game metro series and games made by volition who made sci-fi games like red faction and freespace and relic who made sci-fi games like homeworld and 40k. they are supposed to publish south park game by oblivion and insane by some director who directed hellboy and hobbit and some propaganda but well-thought game made by crytek. and they do not impose region restriction on their games unlike so many other publishers. and they are going down? i thought they did well with saints row 3. i thought they did well with darksiders. this is truly a dark, depressive and gritty setting.
