International hit-men don't apply for permission.

... Is this the plot of your next book? Yeah, KaineParker's my new agent.

I always love telling Scotsmen that (a) tartan was invented by an Englishman with a sense of humour (b) so were kilts and (c ) bagpipes are Indian.

Maybe the Serb burger-flipping guy realises his Pterodactyl boss (Svetlana) is the love of his life, but the Americans feel that dino / human lurve is verboten. Cue a sort of fast food take on Romeo and Juliet. With, er, reptiles.

Unless it's a McDonald's franchise in suburban St. Petersburg. That might be quite dull.

^ Either that or he's a Serb. They're still butt-hurt that we stopped their genocidal tendencies via J-DAM in the early 2000s.

You're working in a hacking factory aren't you? You're in charge of BotNets 44566770000 - 9990007778788.

Just misunderstood.

I love Salmond's take on the pound. Bank of England: You can't use the pound. Salmond: Yes I can. BoE: No you can't. Salmond: Yes I can. (etc) Salmond's plans were written on the back of an envelope. I can't wait to see it blow up in his face if the Scots vote 'Yes.' As for Bester, why the hate?

Travel to rural Sicily. It's basically North Africa.

The North industrialised in the 1800s the South didn't, with concomitant social and economic development. The south remained agrarian and poor. And, of course, ludicrously religious being in the orbit of The Holy See. Please show me a theocracy (that doesn't sit on unlimited fossil fuel wealth) that became an economic powerhouse. Everything really stems from that. The north still has independence movements and a legacy of political violence. Google Bologna bombing.

Italy is a tale of two countries. The South is and always has been poor. It suckles on the teat of the North, which is and always has been more affluent. I've never visited a country where one half resented the other as much. Even the mutual loathing between English and Scots pales into insignificance. As a double insult, the capital sits in the South, like a bloated tick.

Dear Americans, the thread isn't about America. Thx.

Eurogamer on Combat XP, Turn-Based Battles
Monte Carlo replied to PrimeHydra's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I'm glad third parties are picking up on the same issues we are. Although I think people who think turn-based can make it in now are even bigger head-bangers than those of us loyal to the flame of combat XP. -
That's that marvellous Euro for you, y'know the big EU thing Bruce was talking about.

I am out of shape, middle-aged and drink too much. However I have rat-like cunning, an easily-defendable house and lots of tinned goods. I'm sure we could strike a deal.

The pound will take a battering for a little while. Then it will recover. Then Scotland will discover, the hard way, that you can't increase public spending while cutting taxes. The hard way.

Ah, Scotland, net exporter of strange soft drinks and red pubic hair. When they bugger off the rest of us can have double summer time. Also, we can visit their favelas in about five years and buy tartan trinkets from them with our impossibly strong currency.

That's exactly what I was thinking. I he is, then he can harness his powaz and accomplish great things (rubs claws together and cackles manically). Then again, a sociopath wouldn't come on a message board and emote about it, he'd simply pretend. Sociopaths are adept mimics. So Woldan strikes me as simply being emotionally resilient to the point of borderline emotionally malformed. Again, not necessarily a bad thing, the world has more than it's fair share of whining girly-men. Come the zombie apocalypse Woldan is exactly the type of person I'd want to hang with.

The real problem is that might also influences heals.
Monte Carlo replied to Mayama's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
The real problem is architecture - having all stats matter so critically to all classes. I know it isn't going to change, but it's a pretty fundamental, glaring, issue. If you make a fighter in an IE game you know you can ignore INT and WIS, for example. That's not ideal, obviously, but at least you know where you stand. When I make a PoE character I think "well I need this and this and this... and if I don't I miss out on all those dialogue options..." It also doesn't help that very low scores incur a bonus. *shakes head* It, ironically, causes me to make pretty cookie-cutter characters with a samey spread of stats. Is that degenerative too? -
Don't complain about battles being too hard
Monte Carlo replied to Linkamus's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
Fiebras you are being a bit binary. You like extra tough challenges constantly, which is fine (indeed the options allow you to do that with bells on) but most people prefer their road-bumps in varying sizes and frequency. As I said above, combat encounters should provide numerous types of challenges beyond life-or-death uber-struggle. -
King is like all super-successful authors: he thinks he's editor-proof. And if he doesn't, his editors seem to timid in parsing the great man's prose. Disclaimer - I like King, a lot. Still...

Don't complain about battles being too hard

I agree with Niccolado but yet again this forum is likely to fall into binary mode - it's either an impossible boss fight or a trash-mob. I'm not a mechanics person, but I do understand how encounter placement works. A good enemy encounter in a RPG can serve any number of functions, from combat indicator (hmmmm, you often get monster 'a' in synergy with monster 'b', do I have the right spells / weapons), attrition (the encounter is designed to weaken resource 'a' to make the next encounter that bit more challenging), to provoke a false sense of security (mwuahahaha this level is full of kobolds, let's relax!) or simply for flavour. There are of course lots of other reasons too. So battles aren't simply boss fights OR trash mobs. I think the OP slightly missed that. -

Ah, I had a very dexterous Orlan barbarian with a spear. He got killed very, very quickly.
