  1. Just to bring this topic back down to earth.... The clusterphuck of stats, variables, maths, 'gamism' and all round BS of this system Sawyer has conjured from the pit of Logic Hell is hilarious. And this is from people who allege AD&D is too complex. I'm not too proud to admit I haven't a bloody clue how this system works. It's so obtuse it feels like a parody of some ultra-nerdist homebrew. I almost want premade characters with auto-levelling so I don't need to waste my life trying to understand this nonsense, some hipster RPG nirvana where there's no strength for fighters and where some arcane stat might increase your chance of something awesome happening linked to your soul. W.T.F?
  2. Critics are like anything else - some I listen to and others I don't.
  3. I have only decided to reinforce changes that have the potential for success, and ignore that those which invite failure. Sorry, Marc, but this feature is in the latter category. I've changed my mind, too. Once I was a roller for the sake of it but now I've accepted people will just spend hours clicking. Once I've finished the game a couple of times I'll simply use a game editor to make the characters I want.
  4. Someone on the Codex made this: The lack of developer interaction is something I'd like them to discuss after the game is released. Half of the problems on this forum would be solved if the occasional green-named user popped in and wrote something. As it is, I give them 3/10 for the type of feedback they promised during the KS pitch. Don't get me wrong, there was lots of interaction while they were asking for funding, then...
  5. Kingdoms of Amalur isn't bad. It's just not great. Too consoley for me, if I can make up a word for it.
  6. I see The Equaliser has Chloe Grace Moretz in it. I find her beyond irritating and as much as I like Denzel, am unlikely to watch it. The movie has been eviscerated by critics, I see.
  7. I've nothing against floating text or numbers in combat. I thought it worked well in the NWN games, for example.
  8. That is because your manliness is slipping. Man-up Marceror! You have nothing to fear from d1ck-slapping. It is wholesome and natural. I think.
  9. Thank the Lord.
  10. I welcome new, manly, men to the forums so they can come in here and play d1ck-slapping secret hand-shakes and find a safe zone from the FemTyranny that is slowly strangling gaming like Polonium-soaked knotweed. Even if they're chicks.
  11. ^ This is not manly. Men don't explain. Men don't regret. Dammit.
  12. dat goat...
  13. I think this all-male club thing is great. That creates more target-rich chick-infested environments for rampant hetero tygers like moi!! Boom-chikka-wa-waaahhhh!!!
  14. Sad but true. This is what I'm finding.

  16. Even more awesome with the mod that allows you to dual-class barbarians. Minsc as Barbarian / Thief totally stirs s**t up.
  17. Hmmm. Not so sure I agree. In CoH, for example, apm is vital but so is micro. And micro is contigent on a deep understanding of unit values, counters, cover and mechanics. There's a lot more going on in there, and because of RNG it's less math-and-click than StarCraft.
  18. The single reason RTS games struggle nowadays is because you just can't play them properly on a console. MOBAs are the brash upstart offspring of the RTS. Old-skool RTS's are are the preserve of the PC master race, and thus a bit niche.
  19. I always ShadowKeeper her weapon profs to scimitars, spears and staves. Occasionally slings. I had quite a good run with her dual-wielding scimitars and daggers, too. Her weapon profs as per vanilla are a joke.
  20. The only one I'm playing regularly now is CoH2 as Indira says. I've been with the CoH franchise since, ooooh, 2007 I think. I also play Medieval TW 2 a great deal with mods, I absolutely love it. Obviously I was disappointed with Rome 2 despite epic production values and a great look. It tried to streamline stuff but just made it, er, more complicated (cough... pillars of eternity ...cough). I'm always on the look-out for a new RTS, eventually someone will go back to what made the TW series great.
  21. B...but...this is the spiritual successor to the IE games. Right?
  22. An imminent return to Empire is a splendid idea. One reasonable Englishman with a .45 Webley and a couple of trusty locals who comfortably administer a couple of billion hectares of West Africa.
