  1. Prrrretty sure I'm going to keep doing what I do (short of angering the mods/devs) but I appreciate the input.
  2. Here's the weird part: we're not trying to change your minds. In fact...this has absolutely nothing to do with "you".
  3. Why? Balance. There are those of us who'd like to let the developers know what we don't want in the game. Also: hey look, I'm at work and don't have anything to do.
  4. Indeed! Just, you know, don't listen to us overmuch. bonusthought: if you do listen to us...*ahem*...I'd personally love the music to occassionally go the route of somebody like Lustmord, particularly his work on "Stalker". That is all.
  5. I think the funniest part is that this publisher actually thought an "Ok, sure!" answer was a possibility.
  6. Good to know you're interested in being a vocal part of the process. Looking forward to hearing more (or enough to make a fair judgment). Cheers.
  7. What does the time of day have to do with anything? We're talking about a group of people demanding a silly thing from a video game. Who cares what time of the day they're utilizing to make their demands? The demand is no less silly for it.
  8. Great idea. Give me some sort of molerat/lim lim hybrid and I'll name him "Slave" and make him wear a fake mustache. He'll be responsible for washing my back and my dishes.
  9. You are, of course, free to believe what you like but I'd be willing to wager most people with healthy social lives do not post on videogame message boards asking for the inclusion of romances. This topic never even occured to me until other people started to post here about the subject.
  10. Maybe put the questions in quote-blocks and the answers as plain text? Just a thought.
  11. I'm not expecting Lustmord, Mathias Grassow, or Erik K Skodvin level work here but I am unimpressed with what I heard on the trailer. Out of fairness though, I won't say anything more until I hear more from this Justin Bell fellow. I don't feel like I've heard enough to say something like "Mark Morgan could have done better!"
  12. Thing is, videogames have a tendency to be heavy-handed and hamfisted when it comes to "emotional engagement" or "romance" because it's usually done to pander to the sort of people who demand such things. If it happens subtly (New Vegas) or humorously (Fallout 2) it's fine. I'm not worried about Obsidian messing it up on their own. What I'm worried about are the people who seem to need this nonsense in their games having some sort of influence on this game. Keep your BioWare out of my chocolate.
  13. In the same manner that any plot device affects BW's plot...it didn't. You romance her, you get one extra sentence when she ask you for a child. You don't romance her, she still ask you for a child. And the world kept on turning. And there's the rub re: Videogame Romances It's frivolous filler meant to satisfy some juvenile urge and that is all. It doesn't help make the game any better or deeper or realisic or IMMERSIVE. It simply makes the lonely person playing the game who says "I want kiss my graphic sprites" the beautiful and overwhelming sensation of companionship that can only be had from a few clumsily-written lines of game-text coupled with tiny graphic icons. Awesome.
  14. Kickstarter vid music is not exactly impressive but its serviceable and cheaper than hiring somebody new who'l likely only do a slightly better job anyway.
  15. I really hope he's talking about ZIets (and not David Gaider). Oh for ****s sake can this romance nonsense stop?
  16. Pandering arbitrarily to peoples' real life issues does not make for more interesting gameplay. It makes for juvenile embarrassment. When I'm playing a videogame and it clumsily and/or blatantly attempts to tackle contemporary social issues I feel stupid (why am I playing this?), patronized (oh, really? things sometimes are different?) and ultimately embarrassed for not only the developers but people playing the game and taking that kind of thing seriously. As has been said, FO:NV did it right. It was subtle and did not present itself as anything extraordinary.
  17. Or how about the cRPG community where most people are more concerned about gameplay than crying out for the inclusion of blatant attempts at pandering to any consumer's sexual preferences, sex lives (or lack thereof), politics or religion? Yeah, how 'bout that.
  18. If you're going to make a poll you should try to construct it in a way which does not present your own glaringly obvious personal bias. That said, I voted "yes", since I do enjoy using strategy in RPG combat.
  19. Its a throwback to classic iso IE engine cRPGs. You get this much, yes?
  20. The romances in Torment are "quality"? Really. How did they enhance your game. You kissed Annah and she sulks if you keep Fall From Grace in your party. Wow. Yeah. I can see why the inclusion of this "feature" is so important.
  21. Can you name examples of characters or games which were enhanced by romances?
  22. I don't think anybody is trying to. All I see are people rallying against another lame BioWare/Bethesda relationship-o-matic simulator for people who'd rather larp than play an old school pc game.
