  1. But what if you are also sailing a junk? (also, this thread is life) Also, #teamnudemirke
  2. If not, can the floppy adra bit become as such at will? If so, is it an effective counter for enemy naval units?
  3. Which raises the question: Did the ancient Engwithans sculpt a shaft for the statue of Maros Nua?
  4. I don't think being a Bleak Walker precludes benevolence. From where I'm standing, it's mostly about the way they operate: Ruthlessness, determination, absolutely zero mercy - but it could be done in the name of the greater good. Say, you are a Bleak Walker, you think the Huana have the right to the Harapo Epic, you slaughter your way into the Manor in broad daylight to get it. Apart from being in keeping with your code, it also sends a message that a Bleak Walker takes no crap from anyone while on a contract, including a damned archmage. On top of that, you're doing something good.
  5. The map needs to be updated for PoE2. I can't recall off the top of my head, but the game makes it plain that Old Vailia (which we need to visit in PoE3, I DEMAND IT) is six thousand miles to the southwest of the Republics. It's about a quarter of Earth's circumference.
  6. NO. At least tell us which part of gamedata is reponsible for that, so that we can have our Mirke and eat her too.
  7. I checked Pallegina, because I was curious how much feather cover she has. A lot (and unfortunately, the dancer outfits break the base model, so she looks like a victim of an acid attack).
  8. Plus I'm pretty sure people would frown on you manipulating yourself in public.
  9. Well, you're wearing a skinned human turned into an avatar of the god of schemes and vengeance. I'd be surprised if this was something made for a fashion show. Though... "Flayed Human Collection 2829" does have a pleasant ring to it (at least, until I have my coffee). I'll have to check the files, but it seems the lack of robe variety is due to a bug in assigning models, since there's plenty of variety in icons and they usually correspond with what we get. USually.
  10. People have waited for PoE2 reviews, it's a stunning game, so they're buying them both together for on giant playthrough? It isn't self-evident, because you're asserting something based on your own personal interpretation, without actually proving the point. ^ he gets it.
  11. You still haven't actually proven your original point that you can jump into the Witcher games at any point and that it's partly responsible for their success. You're assuming a priori that this is the case and repeating the point ad nauseam without actually establishing any sort of evidence beyond "they sell well", which is more a function of effective marketing than some presumed "ease of access".
  12. You make an assertion without actually backing it up with anything. You can, obviously, install TW2/3 and consciously ignore previous games in the series, but since they are direct sequels to each other, you are missing on huge chunks of the story. Entire stretches of TW3 will be incomprehensible without playing TW2 (journal entries only go so far in establishing characters), primarily due to missing character development and bonding. To use your own example, it's like playing Pillars II without Pillars I. You can do it, but you're missing out at least on Caed Nua and the development of the castle/Endless Paths instrumental to giving a **** about Eothas and the adra titan.
  13. Assuming the translators did not **** the bed and do something stupid, like change Mousesack to Ermion, thus breaking whatever connection might have existed.
  14. You do realize that Witcher games can't be joined part-way through, right? You're missing out on huge chunks of the story and vital character development.
  15. We're having a backend issue with the search engine. Until it's resolved, the quests page is your best bet for bounties (although it could use a bit of cleaning up). You enter the names of the spells in the infobox, separating them with semicolons. For example, Ninagauth's teachings has this code: | level1_spells = Fan of Flames;Slicken | level2_spells = Curse of Blackened Sight;Ray of Fire | level3_spells = Ninagauth's Death Ray;Fireball | level4_spells = Ninagauth's Shadowflame;Wall of Flame | level5_spells = Ninagauth's Bitter Mooring;Torrent of Flame | level6_spells = Death Ring;Ninagauth's Freezing Pillar | level7_spells = Ninagauth's Killing Bolt;Delayed Fireball | level8_spells = Wilting Wind;Major Grimoire Imprint | level9_spells = Meteor Shower;Cloak of Death We're having a backend issue with the search engine. Until it's resolved, the quests page is your best bet for bounties (although it could use a bit of cleaning up).
  16. "I'm a reactionary who can't stand seeing strong women in games, occupying positions of power and telling men what to do. I also missed the fact that Obsidian is very much in the business of making games with progressive themes and mocking people who use the term SJW unironically."
  17. It's kind of hard to estimate how well a game did two weeks after release. Whatever happened to waiting and seeing? Especially since Pillars etc. seem to be slow-burn releases, rather than slam-dunk hits.
  18. I disagree. From the perspective of stability, Skaen is an outlet for people so low on the social ladder that the piss coming down from above feels like a cold rain. It gives them one final recourse against the abuses of the powerful in the form of the Effigy - and keeps them from rebelling every time by killing those most devoted to the cause in vain attempts to summon it. Skaen isn't the god of change. He's the god of scheming. Magran, Galawain, or Hylea would be much better candidates for the gods of social change. RIght -- he's a *bad* outlet. His job isn't to be a god of social change; his job is to discredit those who want social change, as terrorists and rebels and murderers etc. He's the Slave of the Queen. Ultimately, Skaen's existence serves to reinforce the aristocratic social order: he's the eternal scapegoat, and his Effigies serve to rationalize and justify every brutal authoritarian crackdown. Is he? I never got that impression - rather, I got the impression that Skaen acts as a check against the powerful, rather than the powerless. The Effigy isn't an excuse for crackdowns (which would only generate more followers of Skaen and potential Effigies), but a threat against those in power, that they can - and sometimes do - choke on their whip, to quote the lore book. In other words, his job can't be to discredit those who want social change, because he's about retaliation, not changing things. Was the War of Defiance dedicated to Skaen?
  19. Double post for great benefit: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/Pillars_of_Eternity_II:_Deadfire_crafting#Drugs I made a prototype of the crafting table for consumables. What do you think? I have a similar one for unique weapon/armor mods here: https://pillarsofeternity.gamepedia.com/index.php?title=User:Tagaziel/test&profile=no
  20. I'm currently working on that part. I took a break from the data for a while, because I kind of burned myself out on all the item data beforehand. Also! http://www.gamepedia.com/slackinvite This is our OFFICIAL SUPER-DUPER CONTRIBUTOR SLACK, where we also have a Pillars Wiki channel. In case you need to get a hold of me, anyone else, or need some help understanding Cargo, this is the place to go.
  21. I think that's it. The Wheel just speeds up the natural reincarnation process, while also granting the gods control over the entire process. It's all about control - kind of hard to appear godly when you can't ensure you work with reliable souls or reincarnate Thaos perfectly. The day people realize that reincarnation lore is presented to us by way of unreliable narrators is the day hell freezes over.
  22. I'm just picking what to reply to, because I kind of like the breakdown, but a few things stand out. Well, that's the point. If you want to roleplay an irreverent elven junkie genius who flips Cthulhu off and takes dumps into ceremonial cauldrons the size of birthday cakes, you can. Forcing players into a specific attitude when meeting gods is kind of missing the entire point here. I disagree. Especially when it comes to the Rua family. #TeamRua forever. Uh, that's very much the point of the game. The impact of Eothas' decision, the effect it can have on the world, the world entering a new era of industry and science thanks to crude oil luminous adra, Rauatai and VTC at the forefront of modernization, crushing the Huana and naga underfoot much like the British Empire did... All of them are big parts of the game's narrative. Granted, you need to read the Guidebook for a good chunk of background lore and intro, but that's the eternal conflict between plot exposition and pacing. You can have one, but must sacrifice bits of the other. I'm putting these two together. I enjoy the faction system and the story. For starters, the fact that the story doesn't need you and doesn't revolve around you. It's awesome. My character isn't the GREAT CHOSEN ONE DRAGONBORN SPECTRE NEREVARINE WARDEN WITHOUT A SOUL WHO WILL SAVE THE WORLD FROM GENOCIDE TAKEOVER BY GODLY ALIENS AND COLLECTOR ENCLAVE MORTAL DIRECTORATE KEY. He's just one, influential actor in a region that's on the brink of war due to the presence of oil luminous adra and the presence of colonial owers. Much like F:NV, in fact, where the Legion and the NCR will come to blows regardless of the Courier's interference. Which brings me to the other point: I don't feel the game is indecisive either. Eothas is a destabilizing factor in a region where the factions existed in a precarious balance. His passage, the destruction of Hasongo, and the trail of devastation in his wake completely annihilate this balance, plunging Rauatai, the Republics, Huana, and the Principi into all but open warfare. The colonial conflict is a part of the conflict between the gods - hell, you can easily argue that the entire Archipelago is a battlefield of the gods, as well as of the factions they represent. "A ghost lady told me that the gods are all fakes made by people who conveniently disappeared and can never tell you the truth!" have u herd about this fun game called pillars of eternity, where u have a castle and stuff
  23. Aloth taking aloth of effort to please makes sense. Him bugging out aloth doesn't. Especially after they nailed the reputation mechanic in Tyranny and seem to have replicated it with the faction reputations here. Makes me want to go back to Tyranny. ಠ_ಠ I miss this too.
