  1. What makes you think that the two last projects you mentioned aren't one and the same ? For me, they only have one project beside Alpha Protocol, New Vegas and helping on the Wheel of Time game... five projects seem a little big for Obsidian
  2. What you're searching is the interview by Gamebanshee : http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/9645...a-protocol.html Specifically that bit by Matt McLean :
  3. Always good to be reminded of those. Funny to see how much the Grigori scene has evolved since the beginning : first version has nobody in the background, second version you can see people making wallpapers, and I saw a version where people reacted with gasps to the headslam. And I know that the Gelato Guy doesn't like people insulting his shop, and that the mustached taiwanese political figure has little patience for threats
  4. And still for the devs, about Chain Shot : were you inspired by the John Cooper character from the game Desperados for that ability? Matthew, do you know if the demo of AP at PAX East will have an NDA? Is it even a playable demo?
  5. For some reason, I can't get enough of the animation when the guy closer to Mike falls on the ground, in the Chain Shot demonstration. It just seems so... realistic? About Chain Shot, a question for the devs : is there any way for you to reduce the timer before the game comes out? From what we've seen in that video, I think that 30 seconds is way too long, make the thing too easy. 12 or 15 seconds would be more challenging I think, more stressing...
  6. Thanls funcroc! Nice dev diary, although I hope we will soon get more intel on how the different stats affect the different weapons. There seems to be a lot of fun gadgets for stealth characters to play with, radio mimic ("Hey, it's Bob!" ... "Who the f**k is Bob?!?), sound generator, shock traps, really sounds fun! Here is to hope that we would have a playthrough of a mission to show us some of the reactivity... and not the Grigori example please, more like something in the Saudi Arabia hub!
  7. Isn't that Origin awful, never referred to again in the game, and thus, non-cannon ?
  8. Smoking is cool-looking. But people who smoke smells like hell and have the worst breath ever I have been vaccinated against smoking by that awful smell myself, but I think some characters' coolness comes a lot from the way they smoke. Just, not for me. And not in "my" car. And not when you wear fake leather, it makes the smell worse.
  9. You become tainted if you eat Darkspawn's flesh or drink a good glass of their blood. Except for war dogs who attack with their teeth and always have blood in their mouth and thus have more risk to swallow it, I don't see how you can get the Taint if you attack with weapons, unless you're really unlucky or incompetent. How hard can it be to wipe your mouth after a fight, just in case?
  10. You know what? I don't think the DRM as an anti-piracy measure was the point of the system. The point was the centralized game saves and community. And the DRM's main objective is stopping the second-hand market, not fight piracy. The hardest part of the whole system can't be a regular check on the web to see if the copy is legit, not does it ask for a whole lot of servers and infrastructure. Stocking all the saves, on the other hand, ask for a lot more server and storage capacity, don't you think?
  11. The weapon part might be new...
  12. Yeah, what's up with the four eyes for the G22 soldiers, seriously?
  13. It's in the scans of the PC Gamer US preview of New Vegas...
  14. Yeah, I noted that too. Could it mean that they work on another project together, one that Obsidian proposed them in the first place?
  15. I told you already that Dragon Age inspired itself heavily of the best features of NWN 2 More like Japanese's imperialism during World War 2, no? Not that the two aren't evil, mind you. The main difference with the Qunari might be that they don't consider themselves a master race by virtue of genetics, and all races are welcome and equal before the Qun. This not being mere words but a truth. Although the "free education" part reminds of Cuba too, somehow I heard its a dictatorship where even the poorer people can be quite cultured
  16. What would be the reasons for taking the "Commander from Orlais" option? I see a lot : --- obviously, your character died --- your character has become consort for the King or Queen, and therefore shouldn't engage in the Grey Warden anymore --- your character went in search of Morrigan --- your character went travelling around or accompanied Sten to his homeland
  17. 45 minutes for the hardest ones I heard. Plus the fact that the loot is completely unbalanced, that the enemies and loot are level scaled, and that the objects from the DLC are not compatible with the extension. All this is really bad in my opinion. I don't want to pay for things that came for free in Baldur's Gate 2. Especially when their main selling point is "Oh, look! More shiny armors and weapons for your character! Don't you want those???". Finding among the best equipment of the game in quest that aren't that hard completely breaks the immersion for me. Bad, bad Bioware, your DLCs suck! About Alpha Protocol, yeah I can't see any DLC that would be worth the money, unless they have the content and length to be called "extensions".
  18. I always saw the Darkspawn as just another name for the "evil horde of doom", a race with which you can't negotiate or barter with because they are driven by a lust for carnage and pure evil, basically the orcs in most others settings. The Ogre are just the typical "bigger & stupider" that always go along with the smaller, basic soldiers in that kind of horde. And they're the reason Dragon Age fails as a mature and "dark" setting as far as I'm concerned. He went into an uncontrolled rage, out of panic because he lost something really important to him. It is evil, but he himself admits it and accepts the first chance at redemption that he gets, one that will permit him to regain his honor as a Qunari by getting his sword back, and the other by "clearing" the Qunaris' honor tainted by his action, and this he does by fighting the Blight.
  19. You reminded me of how I always wished to kill the Chantry hag that spouted "Magic exists only to serve man, not to rule over him" each time I passed by the Chantry in Denerim. Oh come on, those two are hilarious Especially the old one, I can't make up my mind whether she just had a poor memory or purposely butchered the Chant
  20. But how is that more evil than keeping the mages in a golden cage, stripping them of their children, killing them or making them Tranquil at the first sign of forbidden magic? The Qunari are Lawful in the extreme, but are they evil? I seriously doubt we can be so affirmative.
  21. Chris will also be involved in that one :
  22. Orlais = Louis XIV's France. Dude had like five years of peace in a, what, forty years-long reign? Plus some of the best generals out there? I wouldn't expect Orlais to be so easy to defeat
  23. What would be a good thing for an expansion? More of the same with some new skills, new characters and a new level cap? Or something different like Obsidian did for MotB and SoZ? Like, for example, instead of having four hubs, there is only one and we can go everywhere in it? Missions would still be given through emails and video-calls, but we would have a lot more freedom about how to act because we would have the objective in front of us all the time.
  24. I don't think Steven Heck was in that trailer... He plays bleach-lover Steven Heck, a nutso we meet in the Ta
