  1. Given that merging Small Guns and Big Guns was one of the big changes Josh wanted to bring in Van Buren, and that he has made clear his beliefs about "convoluted skill trees", this doesn't seem surprising at all
  2. I have been asking myself that very question recently... I think we should have at least a forum dedicated to the story and characters, and one for gameplay/technical questions and issue.
  3. Can someone tell us if the reviewer at least seems to know what he's playing? You know, unlike that first spanish review?
  4. That would be fun. If only because of the reaction of all the fans. Be they fans of Final Fantasy, of Obsidian, of Square Enix, of JRPGs, of WRPGs, it would rage from everywhere
  5. Thanks Oner for that review! Glad to see people liking the game, and the new stuff is really interesting By the way, what's the name of the magazine and which country is it from? I'm going to get away from my "get the cheapest" policy for this game and take it at a local retailer. Like that, no wait, I buy it the day it comes out.
  6. It's when it comes to that secret project and the fact that it could be a collaboration with SE that I remember that funcroc isn't a bot That's the only subject on which he makes some comments and shows some curiosity instead of just dropping the news. Anyways, I hope we will know what this is all about soon...
  7. Oh, it definitely is. I saw those descriptions for the Critical Hits "powers" on the numerous previews we've received so far But am I the only one who has trouble taking that preview seriously? If I remember correctly, there are glaring "lore" mistakes, a lot of weird grammar, bizarre conventions for subsections naming (namely, "Pistol" in lower case and all the subsequent weapons type in higher case), some big typos and the use of the "infamous" Vainquish screenshot. This really doesn't strike me as professional or even worthy of publishing
  8. In Firefox, whenever you're in a place where you can type something, right-click and at the bottom there is something likes "Languages", it will let you change the language or install a new pack if you need it.
  9. I've been thinking about where that "32 endings" thing came from, and I came up with a quick calcul : 6 main factions, lets say one really appreciates you, another one really despises you. That makes for 30 differents combinations, and just as many endings. Add in the option of being a lone wolf (nobody likes you) or a social butterfly (many people like you), and you have those basics 32 endings. That's ridiculous, to think so much about it, he ?
  10. There is an interview of Matt Hickman at IGN : http://uk.ps3.ign.com/articles/108/1089605p1.html Nothing new, although I'm wondering who's the character he's talking about... I can only think of Sis which we can kill or spare right after meeting her (heck, the choices are exactly this!). Also, what's with the "we" ? Isn't he Assistant Producer at Sega? It's especially weird when he says that "we" have a close history with Bioware Also, I think he separated more the two companies in previous interviews...
  11. And beat Recruit too. More precisely, you need to beat the game as Recruit Which is possible on the first playthrough, if memory serves. The Recruit/Veteran thing took some time to become completely clear.
  12. Nah, you didn't miss any memo, although someone did recently mention that the same "level" in stealth and martial arts didn't cost the same, by observation of the recent previews. So Stealth requires to be even more focused, hey? Perhaps I will try Rambo on the first playthrough and go to Veteran after, like Oner.
  13. The "pacifist" path might not have been thought-out from the beginning except perhaps for some specific parts (the Rome thing comes to mind) but I'm pretty sure that the "non-lethal" path was thought-out and developed. I wonder how Nasri would react if you reach him without killing anyone in his facility...
  14. I'm wondering about my first playthrough... will I take the stealth and pacifist road, with a focus on Stealth, Sabotage and Technical Aptitude, or will I go the opposite and make some sort of Rambo with SMG, Assault Rifle and Toughness brought to the top?
  15. I think we've already seen that particular e-mail from Mina in another video. It's the one where she says "Welcome aboard" and tells Michael about his new mail account.
  16. I talk to the cinematic designer here : did you take extra-care of how Sis acts, moves, etc.? After all, she can't express anything with words contrary to the others. And another thing : is the shrinking reticle for the pistol a skill that we only get with enough ranks in pistol, or does it work only when the enemy isn't aware of us? Because after seeing the "game night" at 1UP, I can understand how it would frustrate people!
  17. "What... the... hell?" Oh crap! That preview was nice. Although I was too concerned with what was happening on the screen to listen to the comments...
  18. Problem : how can you "write" a mute? That character is going to be extra-tricky for the animators!
  19. So Far, The Witcher is the best CE I've bought. The artbook was really nice! Chris took part in the writing of the story, as far as I know. Also, he already has some experience in comics. And just because Chris is known to write a lot of the stuff in the games he leads, doesn't mean it's true for every designer out there.
  20. I think what you see as professionalism is merely loyalty to her boss. And as far as her love life go, I wouldn't be surprised if she didn't have any up to that point I was going to ask if her VO was from Texas to make you say that, but I recalled one of the "strangest" part of her character
  21. Starwars, any idea of who that "rope kid" guy on the SomethingAwful forum is? He seems to be Obsidian or ex-Obsidian...
  22. Well, they don't talk of "Sodom and Gomorrah" for nothing That's why I just expressed a theory that isn't the obvious one, just for fun
  23. Chris mentionned a gand of "evil Frank Sinatras", someone knows what that could mean? As for Gomorrah, it could be a man who deeply resents Christians and is in a "war" with an extremist Christian group, and just named his part of land like that to anger them even more. "Yeah, try to bring me down with a box and some lights, you f***ers! I want to see that!"
  24. I think some magazines that have a "Great Hit" award in their policy could also give it even if it to the game doesn't reach the 90% threshold but stays in the high 80%. I've seen it for other games.
