There may be a grain of truth to that, but both are sovereign countries and it's up to the citizens in said countries to judge their governments actions, not white beta male geeks fully indoctrinated in Master Race global imperialism, which neither Russia nor China subscribes to btw. Sovereignty is the key word. Perhaps instead of spending almost $1t on military we should be investing in infrastructure, reform of the penitentiary hell, education and all that sort of "commie stuff". But not the Master Race, no!- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
Funny how most people who have not been there jump to these conclusions, and it's mostly white people. Biggest problem in Russia: Corruption. Biggest problem in China: Pollution. Other than that, their services and living conditions are quite functionary, China has even more public service and cheaper price tags than most Western countries so fuuuu- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
I have no racist bone in my body however there might be a danger of unchecked immigration if only because it leads to racist lashback and also criminal activity. American whites do have a tendency to be fascistic and imperialistic though and they need to be crushed so my view as a Communist is everyone is welcome as long as they obey the law and follow government protocol.- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
This new left emerging in the U.S. is is kinda out there, they seem to spend more time on Fox News than anything and continuously attack liberals whilst trying to deescalate militarism abroad and they do promote free speech pretty adamantly and are against forced vaccinations. I suppose it's noble but I don't know if I'm really "Feeling it" but then again I'm an authoritarian. FFS this is not post Tsarist Russia stop with the ignorance. Also, the socialists in Portugal has swept the communists under the rug. Same thing happened in Germany when Sholz won, Die Linke got swept aside.- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
Good leadership can also go a long way to keep ruling party in power, there's been a woeful lack of good leadership the past few decades hence the seasaw battles you see in U.S. and Europe. If Costa delivers the goods, his party could rule for many years. Young people want results not apathy and cynicism.- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains

....and we all know how that worked/is working out Russians never think more than a few years into the future. It's like they're genetically predisposed to think less than a decade. Almost like *cough* Americans The only major power with extraordinary levels of foresight seems to be the *kick/squeel/NO/wtf* ...Chinese.- The New Drinking Thread
Canadian Apple Whiskey mixed with Arizona Green Tea. It is quite good @Malcador! Last dance with mary jane liver pain, one more time to kill the pain soothe the brain- What You've Done Today - Always You Must Meddle, Looking For Trouble Where None Exists.
I did read somewhere though that Americans like to see Australia as an idealized version of themselves, because it's so far away and they've never been there and it's also a fellow 'white' country. Liberals see it as some kind of anti-gun hipster latte paradise whilst conservatives see it as some rough and tumble 'F' and 'C' bomb haven with tough guys who are ultra realists. Reality is far more nuanced of course and it's simply a great place for young people to visit and have fun but a real bad place to retire to. the real "'Nuff said".- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains

Russia has a Democracy actually and it's about as corrupt as America's democracy, they do have various political parties. The Russian population is just more right wing in general than populations of Europe and that's why they hate them really. That, and Cold War sentiments don't die easily. U.S. is about split on Right vs. Left (with probably more independents mixed into the crowd than we think). People in China have plenty of individual freedom and their government encourages it but their population and government favors rule of law over anarchism. Again, it's not a black and white situation.- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
Sorry to intercept here but....kinda! There's a reason Nixon went to Beijing in 1972, to improve U.S.-China relations in order to weaken the Soviet state which ultimately proved successful. Some members of Trump's strategic team wanted to do the same thing and improve relations with Russia in order to weaken China but he was not allowed to for domestic reasons. Will it ultimately matter if Russia-China ties grow stronger....I dunno, I don't have a crystal ball but it certainly doesn't help the situation!- The All Things Political Topic - Those who do not move, do not notice their chains
In a perfect world, we could completely decouple and go our merry way like in the Cold War. However, there's just too many nuances in todays world to completely decouple so we're probably gonna have to settle with some kind of Cold Peace and semi decoupling. KFC is the most popular fast food in China, and even though it is largely localized and it's menu is vastly different than the American variant, KFC is still an American company and would have to break off from headquarters and create a new one in China, and would be extremely difficult to do. Ah, but but of course that's when stories like this start popping up xD https://www.yahoo.com/lifestyle/chinese-government-deems-kfc-too-134200331.html- Random-Interesting-Weird
There's also this I found: https://www.cnbc.com/2021/10/16/tsmc-taiwanese-chipmaker-ramping-production-to-end-chip-shortage.html So I guess TSMC may be setting up shop in Arizona, not sure how that'll affect the overall company, especially if Taiwan gets "Bumrushed" and whether its possible the entire company can just emigrate to the U.S. or not and change their company name. That would be pretty spot on for a major corporation though, the super rich fleeing to the U.S. and leaving their poorest citizens in the dust. While China is putting effort into semiconducters themselves, the are still way behind in the game. https://www.cnbc.com/2022/01/20/idc-on-chinas-semiconductor-tech-ambitions.html
