  1. Blue Note - The Ultimate Jazz Collection great stuff
  2. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ElS9BKSsezw no traffic jams for me suckers!
  3. I mostly listen to electronic music. Preferably downtempo/ambient (Orbital comes to mind), but I also used to listen to a lot of big beat (The Prodigy, Chem Bros, Fatboy Slim) in my teens and still haven't lost the taste for it. My favorite genre is probably psychedelic ambient, or psybient: Shpongle and Younger Brother, both projects by Simon Posford, the Jimi Hendrix of electronic music. There's a new Shpongle album coming in November yay. Mushroom music ftw, although you don't even need hallucinogens to get high on these sounds. Don't think of the typical psychedelica like Infected Mushroom or Juno Reactor. Those are for the stupid acid-tripping masses. Posford is a lot more sophisticated and subtle than that. For a taste of Shpongle: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQyR-FXJCLk Probably my favorite 8 minutes of music in the world, it just never gets dull. For a taste of Younger Brother: Obviously, this sounds a lot better on cd, or even in mp3, than on youtube. But since you all seem to be fans of metal (which I absolutely loathe btw), you probably won't care.
  4. There should definitely be a supercool antagonist who is defeated and later redeemed and ultimately sacrifices himself to defeat the superevil true antagonist.
  5. I just got myself a mouth harmonica on an impulse buy, so I need modern blues and jazz people help me out please! things like the soundtrack to The Wire, I love that stuff
  6. That grappling hook sure looks fun.
  7. I've realised that I've had many dreams over the past few years about impressive but weird hotels. Sometimes they're underground and quite dark, sometimes they're sky high and very clear. Mostly it's about me not being able to find my way out. These dreams don't occur very often, but there definitely seems to be a recurring pattern in them when they do. I wonder what it means. I've never worked in a hotel. Maybe I should? Or maybe it's a warning that I never should (although I'm not a believer of the prophetic nature of dreams).
  8. I just learned Orbital is making another tour. Which is awesome since they quit in 2004.
  9. Gran Torino I'd heard positive things about it, but was nonetheless pleasantly susprised. Very strong movie.
  10. I played the free trial month of WoW but then decided losing my social life wasn't worth paying
  11. Except that they've completely destroyed whatever interesting lore they had to suit WoW's gameplay.

So I finished volume 4, and I must agree, this show has become a total crapfest.

    LOST

Yes, that is my guess too. Although villain might not be the right term. Smokey is the Island's security system. By definition, it doesn't like people on the Island (e.g. it killed Parkman when he was trying to use the radio, killed Rousseau's team, attacked Keamy's crew), and if it must allow people, then it scans them to know their intentions (the Others may stay because they really are good people, Eko was killed for refusing to repent). Jacob brings people to the Island (I suppose to prove that people ultimately have a choice to be good, rather than being predetermined to corrupt as Smokey believes), but other than that he doesn't have any bad intentions to the Island. Hence Smokey can't kill him. So what was the solution? By appearing to young Ben as his mother, it made Richard believe Ben was special, that he was the Others' destined leader (which he wasn't, hence Jacob gave him a tumor). Then it appeared as Christian, making Ben turn the wheel, and thereby making Locke go back in time. In 1954 Locke told Richard he would eventually become their leader. Thus a self-fulfilling prophecy was created. Locke too was never meant to be the leader. But now that Richard believed so, all that was left to do for Smokey was to send Locke off the Island, where it knew Ben would kill him. This allowed Smokey to take Locke's form and demand of Richard to take him to Jacob. And there, it finally succeeded in having Ben choose to kill Jacob (after first appearing to Ben as Alex and ordering him to follow Locke). Et voil

    LOST

Well, as Jack said a few episodes ago, they're kinda getting used to insane.

    LOST

^iirc, the first time we saw Smokey (chronologically) was when Rousseau had just arrived on the Island, which would be in 1988 (Alex being 16 years old in 2004). I too think it was trapped in the cabin and released at some time. I'm sure we'll see how it got out. If I had to guess I'd say Widmore has something to do with it.

    LOST

I loved the finale, despite the fact we didn't get to see any Desmond. The opening scene is probably the most important scene out of all 5 seasons.
  17. Sucks to be French. Even more than it did before, that is. I hope it doesn't blow over. France is not very far from here.

    LOST

There were quite a few hilarious lines this episode: Ben: This must be quite the out of body experience. Hurley: Sawyer always has a plan, right? Sawyer: We'll buy Microsoft.

    LOST

Just when you start to think you know whose allegiances lie where, Lost still manages to put it all upside down. After last episode, I wouldn't be surprised if Richard turns out to be the bad guy.
  20. I haven't followed any updates on this project for a while. Is it nearing completion?

    LOST

The irony is that in their efforts to change everything, they're actually creating the circumstances from which they're trying to escape. In trying to prevent the Incident, Jack & co will actually cause it, and thus cause Oceanic 815 to crash etc etc... Much like Ben became one of the others because Sayid shot him and Jack refused to operate on him.

    LOST

I still don't believe things can be changed. PS: we're going to need a lot of Desmond in the last 2 episodes to make up for his serious lack of screentime this season

    TV: Heroes

I've just finished volume 3: Villains. I must say, the original season was way waaaay better than this. I don't know why I keep watching it. At least volume 3 is better than 2 (man that was some serious crap). And is it me, or did Claire, when she was in the hospital in Chapter 11 (Eclipse pt 2) say "My ass is dry" at 17:55? I rewinded that scene many times and that's really what it sounds like LOL.
  24. There are definitely 3 camera modes. I found Strategy mode, combined with Free Camera (in the Options), to be the best option.
