The Sound / The Voices / The Music
SirPetrakus replied to Pop's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
I really enjoyed BG 2's soundtrack, I used to wake people up in the army to the Taverns theme and the Pirate Isle As many times as I have tried to start MotB and PS:T my older brother manages to somehow destroy my PC by burning the HDD or forcing me to format it. It's incredible how after 3 years of owning PS:T I have not been able to finish it. I've only had MotB for less than a year so it's got time ahead of it xD. -
That's some pretty good work you're doing there! I look forward to the completion of the class, I am sure one of my power mongling comrades will find it tempting.

Well, Xard, keep in mind that usually the book is better than the movie. Because it was adapted to a two hour film, some things might not be like you remember them in the book. So ... 1) I just think that killing ALL the black guys in one scene isn't right. Give them a chance, man! Also, black guy dying is the most beaten down cliche there is! Where have you been living? Or is it that you just never noticed it? Seriously, ask anyone. 2) In the movie they actually are from the base and they speculate they are just leaving on a field op. 3) You're right about that, but why is everyone so fast to become a believer? She's a nutjob and it's obvious from the very first scene, would would she change to God's Avatar within a day? 4) I get your point, it's not physics but chemistry. It isn't any less outrageous though. 5) Like I said, don't go off killing ALL the black people like that! It's overused and it's plain bad taste. Also I'm overreacting. 6) The guy playing that soldier does the voice over for Darth Vader's secret apprentice in TFU. I was hoping he'd force choke that bitch. He DID bring down an imperial battle cruiser! Also, monsters from another dimension = not of this earth = aliens. Not as the Aliens from the Alien franchise, but still aliens. 7) Good point there. Accepted. In the whole film there is no reason to believe that the Mist is blocking frequencies or being soundproof. Still the synchronized vibrations caused by the tanks' movements would cause a tremor similar to an earthquake. Even if they hadn't heard them, they would have felt them. 9) It just seemed so ironical that it looked like a Monty Python joke. Call me cynical and cold hearted but it's true. 10) lol I'm not saying the book was bad cause: a) I haven't read it and b) If anybody had written a book like that it wouldn't have been published, it would have just been given as a movie script. I'm not a big Stephen King fan, I've only seen the Jack Nicholson movie of "The Shinning", the mini-series of "The Fort" and the "In the Mouth of Madness" movie for the sake of John Carpenter and David Warner. The Shinning was awesome, great performance by Jack, John Houston who directed it had a vision for that film, The Fort was ok, but nothing grand and "In the Mouth of Madness" is heavily influenced by Lovecraft novels and featured plenty of John Carpenter goodness. I think I'm not being entirely fair to Stephen King here because I am not that much of a fan of modern literature, I am much more inclined towards the classics and sci-fi or horror weren't an issue for most of them. I'm not saying he is bad, just that he isn't that much to my taste, nor that The Mist is a bad book, just that I found the movie to be a bad adaptation. It's not really that bad, it's just that it has some flaws that I can't look past. It's a bad movie for my tastes but most of my friends liked it. The only other friend of mine that didn't like it is a guy who thinks Rambo 4 was a great movie and Funny Games the best movie of this decade. He's got no taste at all.

Most thing like that happen to me when I'm awake. Like how many force points to use on my force lightning to cook my steak? or waking up to go to the bathroom and standing under the door frame cause I'm out of move points or how do I press X on me so I will pass the ball to a friend of mine when we play soccer. But I had these really weird dreams a couple of times. In one of them I looked like the bad guy from Silverhawks in his human form only really anime looking (pretty). I was with a few friends of mine and we were being hunted by the Matrix agents for being Cretan, whatever that meant. So one of my friends has a gizmo and while we are in this airport, trying to get past customs and the agents are on us, he teleports us on a plane in flight. Just as we think we are safe, more agents pop up so we teleport again on a deserted island that has a huge rock on one side with 2 doors on it, a window, a carved ladder to a second floor and an outhouse. It's my grandma's old house. I have no idea why. We see the plane we were on going down, crushing into the sea and a spaceship of some alien design is abandoned but in seemingly good shape near the island's beach. We try to get it open but the hatch eventually opens up from the inside to reveal another Cretan, like me, but he's gone completely insane and tries to kill me and my friends. We manage to overpower him but we then see bombers coming to bomb the island. We bang the door to my grandma's house to have some people I've never even seen in my life open the door for us and take us to this tunnel that goes under the bottom of the sea, connects to the sewers and takes us in a city with a carnival. At that point I woke up cause my dream had turned ducky.

Are you kidding me? I've tasted water stronger than this! *looks at Rosbjerg intently* *checks his Constitution score* You sir are an Elf! No wonder you like Franziskaner. I'm a big fun of Irish and British beers, mostly the dark ones. I used to be a big fan of Guinness until I found out about Murphy's. I tried Tetley's lately but Murphy's is just THE best. For me at least. I started a beer bottle collection years ago, one from each different label I've drank, I've got about 50-60 bottles now and the self is just overflowing with them xD

Oh wow, didn't see that. Feel free to delete my thread or whatever >< Again, sorry T_T

I watched the Mist and I could probably name 10 reasons why that movie sucked. I need to make clear that most things that count in a movie were good. The Punisher was good at his role, Roast Chick on a Ladder from Silent Hill was also appealing and even the rest of the cast was pretty good at what they did, especially the deranged religious fanatic lady, I really hated her. Direction was good, atmosphere was ok, I would have expected something more claustrophobic but still good. There were some things however that really made you think that there's something wrong here. 1)First of all, the only people who decide to leave the Super Market are 10 black people, which is the whole cast of black people in the film, and 1 old white guy. Last time I checked racism was a bad thing because I noticed I don't have a KKK hood in my closet but whoever thought of killing ALL the black guys in one scene deserves an Oscar for convincing all the black actors to get out of his movie that fast. Priceless. 2)When the Military screwed up and left their Camp they would have issued SOME warning to the town's citizens, like "aliens are coming, please pack your bags and GTFO, NAO!" but no, they just strolled through like they were going on a merry little picnic. What a load of bull! 3)Deranged fanatic religious lady says that someone is gonna die, some guy burns himself with a mop when the aliens attack and suddenly she is the Messiah. If the guy managed to burn himself with a mop, trust me, he had it coming! He did mankind a favor. 4)HOW CAN YOU BURN YOURSELF WITH A MOP????!!!!! I can't get over this. It's like the skiing documentary I saw the other day where a skier made a jump, landed with his face in the snow and caught fire. This defies physics, logic and everything I've known my entire life! 5)The only black guy not to have left the Mall is in the store next door AND HE'S ALREADY DEAD! Ok, you hate black guys, WE GET IT ALREADY! 6)Darth Vader's secret apprentice gets offed because he was the guy on guard duty at the main gate of the army camp so it's all his fault that aliens are attacking. Makes sense they would think that. This movie just ruined TFU for me. Screw you, Stephen King! 7)When 2 people say there's something in the Mist and it's killing people you don't go right into the Mist until you asses the danger. One lady got lucky, doesn't mean you will too. 8)You'd think 4 armored tank divisions would have made SOME kind of noise? Last time I checked mists aren't soundproof. 9)The end reminded me of Monty Pythons so much I expected their theme to play and the stomping foot crushing everyone, such a disappointment when it didn't happen Damn it! I'm one short of a perfect 10 Oh wait, there's another one! So, there it is, 10 reasons to hate this film plotwise. It had great potential but it got really ****ed up at one point. No, I haven't read the book.

I'm a huge beer fan. It is my most dearest of all alcoholic beverages and even whiskey takes a back sit to it. I prefer black beers to blonds and reds, and I prefer the ones further north of where I am. I used to be nuts about Guinness, but then I discovered Murphy's. It tastes like frape, which is like one of two things that sustain Greeks, the other being souvlaki, so that's a big plus right there. What's your favorite?

I am looking forward to an Obsidian game that will be as long lasting as BG or Fallout, though you could speed run the Fallout games in less than one hour. I want something long lasting but not meaningless *coughoblivioncough*

Oh God no! Bring Jaws back from the moon too Can't we have Mike visit one of the Greek isles? Like Myconos or Ios or Chios or Rhodes? Just as cosmopolitan as the Carribean isles, just less exotic, i.e. no palm tress and coconuts. Sometimes. -
I reject Divine Crusader because he hampers my spell progression and it is all Charisma based, I will need Charisma 19 to cast 9th lvl spells, sucks. Contemplative seems good and so does Divine Oracle, maybe I can choose both :D Divine agent also rejected for lack of good spell progression. Thanks, you've been really helpful. I don't understand why I hadn't noticed them before? I like the Contemplative's abilities, Magic Resistance, Agelessness and that Mystic Union ... wow! That's badass! The Divine Oracle gets Prescience Bonus and Immune to Surprise! I can't be surprised! Screw your surprise party, I knew about it all along! xD Thanks for the help guys! I'm going for both of these!

Wasn't there a screenshot of a garden in AP that looked exactly like that? Or am I thinking one of the latter RE games? I think I'm ... confused? It is confused isn't it? [whisper] It's baffled! Baffled![/whisper] Yes, yes, that's it! Baffled! -

Yes, that would truly be amazing, but here's something wrong about that approach. How much of the city will be used? How long would it take to get measurements and recreate the actual city? Don't get me wrong, I'd love it and one of the reasons I wanna play a mindless little game like "Wheelman", starring Vin Diesel, is because they've actually recreated a large part of Barcelona in the game. If OE could deliver such high detail as in actually recreating real areas of the cities Mike visits, it's gonna be huge! I don't think they've mentioned anything like that though. -
Are any of these even in the Complete Divine rulebook? Anyway, a good prestige class for a cleric is also good for a Favored Soul, but I've yet to see one worth for either. :S Are more info on your suggestions available on the internet?

The Green Hill Zone from Sonic and Hyrule Castle. What? Like you never wanted to go there! -
How about more kittens? You can't have enough in a game! Seriously though, a side quest or two that did not affect the main plot or the game's ending could be added later on, or possibly side missions where we get to control side characters? Like 2 agents working together to complete a mission and each has to do his thing in order for the other guy to advance. Like, uh, Mike and Javier Bartem for example ( first name that came to mind, sorry) have to infiltrate a facility, one works as a decoy while the other gets the necessary items/files/whatever or one of the two has to go and deactivate security in different parts of the compound while the other guy goes for the objective. It could work like that, while in the OC you'd just use Mike and count on the devs and the writers that the other guy did his job, with the downloadable content you should be able to guide the other agent through too.

How about this then? A voice came from the shadows, sharp and heavy. There was something menacing in his voice even as his words weren't. Though he must have moved closer, he made no sound and saw they him not till he was right between them. A creature of darkness he seemed, dark and foreboding, they knew they'd best have kept their wits about them. A long scar run down the right side of his face, over his eye which, though seemingly intact, had died long ago. His short black hair were graying out fast and his wrinkled face made him look venerable, though his agility dictated otherwise. Draped in the colors of the city's night, he blended like a chameleon with his surroundings. A tiny glimmer of light appeared on his gloved hand, a small coin that he fancied playing tricks with, running it trough his fingers. He didn't want them dead, though he surely could end their lives in an instant. As if to mock them he retreated back where he came while that distracting glow of the coin still flickered in their eyes. As they looked around, both Gideon and his underlings, the Blood Knives as he had called them, had disappeared. Just in case I wasn't clear, Gideon would be the bad guy and the Blood Knives would be the criminal underworld society he ruled over. I was thinking of something similar about the Arch Lector of the province, but I realized that everything else you might need to know about the province, its Lords and Ladies and the residing factors could be found in a source book or by searching the internet, therefore unless I am mistaken my help is not needed any more, if you find no more information however I would be happy to help again, provided I have been helpful this far :S

Eh, yes, quite. But serving in the military (which is obligatory in my country) and therefore not having any PnP experience for 2 years, you learn to compromise.

You want a classic literature approach to characters in a world of pious devotees and fanatics. 1) That isn't easily done. 2) I am not native English so I am a little limited. 3) I can't simply translate it because Greek doesn't always have an English counterpart. Also Greek thinking doesn't translate into English in anyway. 4) I am only good at describing women of the femme fatale variety. 5) How many femme fatales can you include in a WH40k campaign, if any for that matter. I am sorry but I am of no real use to you. I will try it and see if I can come up with something you can use, though. Look for something within the next day or so, if it doesn't fit your tastes, I'm sorry it didn't work as you had planned.

Oh trust me, when I try to play a role, being goody two shoes or party prankster or anything I usually get a stiff, sharp "dude, stfu and lets get on with the story". Oh how I long for my old adventuring days! Call of Cthullu, now THAT required personality! I spent 99% of the time making no sense and being insane, the GM loved me xD

Basically, they are mostly evil with a lust for power, I was assigned to them by the quest giver for the healing abilities of my class, I am just their tag along, you may say. Despite my low intelligence, I may have 14 but there are chars that already have 20 or more because of magical items, I am also very useful in extracting information diplomatically, without bloodshed or manipulation . They keep me and use me for as long as I am efficient. I don't think any of them are all that nice. And here I am pouring the very essence of my God for them *sigh* I haven't left them because I was assigned to them by my Lord and I basically put up with them, their deeds usually aren't all that evil. One of them paid a family 10 GP to spend a night at their house without doing anything and we gave 70 GP to an innkeeper for damaging a door and another 70 GP to a citizen to keep watch and report to us if anything weird happened or if he saw two certain individuals. We could all kill, bluff and intimidate our way into or out of those things but we didn't, so helping others make a healthy profit while we could make things messier is a good thing I guess. You are taking things way too RP in this simple question. This is d&d 3.5E, you should already know that RP has gone to hell with that >< which is why I prefer good ol' 2E
