BREAKING NEWS: CRYSIS DEVS BAIL OUT! CONSOLES ARE THE FUTURE!
Morgoth replied to Llyranor's topic in Computer and Console
Lol, that took them long to realize. But I remember clearly when Cevat bashed on consoles prior the Crysis launch, but I guess he changed his mind when it was announced that Crysis only sold 80k units. Later they said "1 million", but that's probably just the player base, not the customer base. -
Christ I almost forgot about this thread. As the head of a Parliamentarian Monarchy, that includes some of our former neighbors as economical and political allies in order to build a stronger Central European zone (state?), thus presenting a stronger position in the EU, and also aiming for a stronger (foreign) policy. Because as a Republican President, he would wield no power whatsover, and nobody would listen to him (like to our current president - a faceless nobody, but a dangerous nobody). The current 2nd Republic of Austria, an abomination that was artificially created in 1955, is nothing else than a porperty of corrupt parties that loot the people dry with no desire to change that. The same parties that in the 1920s fought each other in a civil war for property and power instead of facing the Nazis, and consequently selling out to Hitler. In fact, the creation of the first Republic and the banishment of the Habsburg was an illegal act, that was forced my no less than Nationalists, that in the end prevailed in creating a Republic. You really think the majority of the folks wanted the Habsburgs expelled? Nobody wanted that, except a handful brainwashed power-mongrels. Well, he's still influental, but he's working a bit more "underground" and dirtier now. I don't know the exact politics of Carinthia (where he's the regional leader), but he created a new right-wing party a few years ago, and now it seems he's up to something awful again with his goons...at least in Carinthia. He just makes no shows in public anymore, but that doesn't make him less dangerous (read: stupid).

A new preview is available of the famous Greek tale inspired Action RPG at IGN I really like the art direction, and the combat system seems to take some fresh approaches as well.

Nostalgia is a bitch, and that's why I sold all my old games I were sure I'm never gonna playing them again (including more "recent" games like NWN2, Stalker etc.) at ebay. Good deal, because I feel now less is more.

PC Zone UK first look preview
Morgoth replied to funcroc's topic in Alpha Protocol: General Discussion
Looks good, not overwhelmingly "I'll crush Crysis graphics!!", but I'm not the graphics whore type anyway. But please Obsidian, please do something about the look of Thorton. He looks like a French croissant-baker rather than some agent. He needs a tougher face. And I'm not so sure about the Syriana theme. I guess Obsidian aims for a more "intellectualized" (if that makes sense) ambiente rather than "Mr. President we have to make things exploding, because we're the good guys" sort of crap. Well, good luck anyway. And don't forget to make the chicks worthwhile. -
Bioware - Are Their Games Actually That Good?
Morgoth replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
I love Halo and Fallout sucks. *runs away* -
Not interested if Austria isn't playable.

Has it been somewhere stated that Spellbound is actually working on the Expansion? Who knows, maybe some mod team (because they're cheap) is working on it... not that it would make any differences in the quality - Gothic 3 felt very amateurish, after all.

STALKER made a very good first impression on me, mostly because of the atmospheric and lovely build game world. But the lack of narrative and engagement just turned me off after a while. I think I played some 15 hours into it until I just lost all interest.

Bioware - Are Their Games Actually That Good?
Morgoth replied to Humodour's topic in Computer and Console
Yes, recent Bioware games are overrated, but that doesn't make them bad. I just remember the big hype of Jade Empire or Mass Effect when it was first announced, and everybody thought "OMG the revelation is here!" (including myself), but when the games got released, they just were on par with any other (not so much hyped) games. NWN, while not so good, had at least great support and a great longevity. I personally enjoyed Kotor very much, but Jade Empire was rather forgettable. And I fear Mass Effect will face the same fate - a quick blockbuster that sells well but everybody forgets shortly. Now I hope at least Dragon Age will capture the awesomeness again that I felt in older Bio games. -
I still don't get why Monolith decided to change the looks and voice actors of the characters completely. Well, not that it makes any difference gameplay wise, but still...

Oh, one of these threads again (Yay!). Deus Ex System Shock 2 Thief 2 Starcraft Half Life Half Life 2 Diablo 2 NOLF Baldur's Gate 2 Commandos Just the ordinary classics, nothing fancy.

I never understood how someone could get that high in WoW. I mean I really love the game, the world, the charm... but I always grow tired at lvl 15 or so, then I switch to another race, just to grow tired again. Because I'm so sick of this combat system. Clicking-waiting-missing just isn't fun, and I don't have the patience to kill pigs the whole day long. That's why I hope I'll find some true MMO love in Age of Conan. A visceral, fast, player-driven combat system should hopefully keep my motivation up for a bit longer.

Is that guy in the background at the door you, Josh? Anyway, did the car drop some l00t?

Well, she may get worshipped like a goddess, but she sure won't get a boyfriend!

Well, I'm not too keen on that supernatural thing. I mean one aspect I liked about the original Condemned was that Ethan was just a struggling guy, not some owerpowered Super-Ninja. At least what Condemned tried is to keep one foot still holding in reality. Now if Condemned 2 is some Psycho KISS Clown parade, then I'll be deeply disappointed, but if it has still the somewhat serious, gloomy "charm" of the first game, then it's as good as bought.
-
I know it will come out for the PC too (more or less confirmed), but I wanted to know what the console users here think of it. I heard it's somewhat "twisted" in a bad way, and not very reminiscent to the first game (like the main protagonist). Is it still recommandable? Is it still tyte and frightening, or has it been dumbed down? Please tell me a bit about the game, but spoiler free. As a side note, I just watched the intro of Condemned 2, and it's actually damn well made. It's actually funny that Bioware hyped Mass Effect two years long for their

I have a real dog!

Yes, there're plenty of guns. The Marksman class is specialised in that. However, they don't really feel like your typical FPS guns. Mind you, it's still a Hack & slash action RPG, and the first person view is for atmospheric reasons only (well, and the stupid Z-Axis gargyoles). Anyway, my first playthrough was with a Marksman, and while fun, it was also hard later on, and at some spots even ungodly unfair (i.e. the boss in the Tower of London). Now I'm playing with a Blademaster (melee guru in 3rd perspective), and I think it's alot faster, easier, more fun. I haven't tried out the other fancy classes, but I did play an Envoker (Necromancer sort) during the Beta, and playing it felt slow and dragging.

I totally have no interest in a butchered Tomb Raider clone, really. Thief was never meant to have mass appeal, but Eidos Montreal is bound to make million sellers in order to stay alive, but I doubt a Thief1/2 style game will be that million seller.

Looks very cool, and I think I'm gonna get it. I bought the original DOW years after it's initial release and was pleasently suprised. CoH was very good too, so I think Relic's a company I better keep an eye on in future. Oy, my shiny new Core 2 Quad will hopefully be able to run it! Har har nhar!
-
Nonsense. It runs as smooth as a baby-butt. Even my old P4 could run it smoothly with all details enabled. The game itself is vastly underrated. Go get it if you like Blizzard-style Action RPGs.

Biggest nonsense you've ever seen from a game.
Morgoth replied to Tale's topic in Computer and Console
Not exactly bad design, but rather an annoying bug I had in Hellgate London while wrapping up Act 4. So I stepped through a portal to meet two brothers in a monastery to talk to them. After I was done, I wanted to get back to my former place, so went through the portal again, then there was a hiccup, and I was just again in the monastery. I tried it again and again, but I couldn't get out of this loop, and I couldn't use a teleporter either. The trick was to approach the portal by a 90 -
Is anyone else playing the leaked Diablo 3 Beta?

Oh well old news. I already saw the scans weeks ago. Still, it looks very solid, although I'm not that keen on the Sam Fisher-look of the protagonist.
