If Cryptic is realy doing 3 MMOs at once, i realy question the final quality...

Having adventure and having adventure while killing people are too very different things.

As i said, after releaseing NWN2 Platinum, Bioware did the same with releasing NWN Diamond... No one blamed them everybody was happy...

If it has been marked by PEGI as 18+ or by ESRB as M only, it is idiocy of the parent to buy his 10 years olds the game and not the idiocy of the developer of the game... I meant that the seller should be convicted for it. Then the clear idiot is the seller... Nazi ban in Germany did not stop many people in Germany to worship Hitler. Communism ban in Russia did not stop many people in Russia to worship Stalin... Banning all drugs did not stop abusing of drugs anywhere... If parents do not educate their children enough, they will always have access to Hitler, Stalin, Cocaine etc... same goes with computer games... EDIT: The right ban should be to not sell PEGI 18+/ESRB M only to kids... Punnishable by high financial penalties to sellers...

If parent fails at educating their children, the law does not help... If you ban making of/selling games in your country, young children without parental guidance will just download the games for free from pirates... And you can bet, that because of the teenage mentality, they will have access to much more of that stuff after the ban... Because nowadays everything what is forbidden to them by parents or law is coolest thing in the world, and bragging about it in public = more rl-peen... As an example, before 1989 we had banned all Schwarzenegger, Stallone, Star Wars, Porn and Alien movies as most of the horror movies in my country (thanks to the communists) but the movies could be found everywhere... I remember how we had fun at age of 9-10 running around different friends and watching Schwarzenegger and horror movies all day long, because it was so cool...

I think this way too. This don't mean I wouldn't defend myself or my family but it'd still be wrong. Every soldier has a choice not to kill but in some cases it might cost their own life. Takes a lot of guts stand in front of the firing squad, just because you refused to kill someone. Self-sacrifice is interesting thing - games should explore that idea bit more. About this german censorship law. If you'd ask me about this 20 or even 10 years ago, I would have been strongly against it but now I'm not so sure. Minors playing all kind of violent games and surfing whatever recent *shock* website do make me bit nervous. Parents or teachers rarely have any idea or means to stop it. I'd damn glad there weren't internet or camera phones back in my youth. While i agree with you, i absolutely disagree with censorship laws like that... The parents should be responsible for their children behaviour alone... I am 30 years old.. I played Wolfenstein when i was 12, Doom and Mortal Kombat when I was 14 and i played them 24/7... Up to this day i have never had the idea to even hit someone, neither kill anyone, or even hit my dog... I had few friends who played Mortal Kombat 2 even at younger age... And none of them became bully, none of them is hitting their girlfriends, none of them are beating their animals... Because our parents have teach us what is wrong and what is right... You also know that these old games aren't really very violent, in a senze that they're just a bunch of ugly pixels? Modern games are much more emotionally involved, with all the agressive PR campaigns, the swearing, the realism, the pop culture references, and the

Sure it is. I lived alone for the first time when I was in 18, and my step-father made sure I had a handgun. He explained that in Maine, it was legal to kill someone who'd broken into your house, but if they lived, it was possible they'd sue you. Therefore, if I shot them and they tried to escape, I should drag them back into the house and finish them. Northeasterns are such practical people. I seriously hope for you, that this was meant as a sarcasm...

Killing another person is NEVER ok!!! Glorifying soldiers to promote killing is same bull**** like glorifying Bundy or Mason...

There are different studies aswell... http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/01...es-violence.ars http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2007/11...-and-gaming.ars This is the most interesting http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/02...-a-bad-idea.ars And this is my favourite :D http://arstechnica.com/gaming/news/2009/02...ast-feeding.ars

So looks like you never heard of NWN Diamond NWN diamond edition included both expansions and all of the official module packs released at the time. But what it did added compared to NWN Platinum edition In your words adding 3 premium modules and making totaly new edition for full price was outrageous... OMG HOW COULD BIOWARE DO THAT!!!

And yet AFAIK after all these years no one can run a simple test like the one I outlined earlier in the thread to prove that Starforce burns up drives. Actually, I wouldn't be surprised if such a test was run but the results were never released as the desired result was not attained... Or the exact results could be attained only through reverse engineering (as you might know, reverse engineering of copyrighted IP is a crime in most of the "civilised" countries) or any other means which could infringe on the copyright of the owner of the Starforce IP, so such tests could be ordered only by the court and afaik no order for such a test was issued... I bet we would see some evidence like this at people vs Ubisoft lawsuit, which was issued in 2007 for 5 million $, but UbiSoft rather settled the lawsuit and abandoned Starforce...

It would be cool if more companies did that. Take one of their games that is a year or two old, patch it up, remove the drm, maybe toss in a few extras, and rerelease it at a slightly lower price point than a new game. It gets the game back in the public eye in a nice new packahe and is bound to move a few copies. Glad we have EA, they are doing it already with all their sports series, except the lower price and removing DRM But yeah if other companies would make waht you suggest i would be happy panda... i missed some nice games in the past, and they are no longer for purchase...

And just to show people, your lol spinning of my words: My post: your post Where did i said here, that by installing SecuROM will result in HiJacking your PC? Let me rephrase my 1st qute to you, because you love to spin ****: If you at least dont reformat your PC once a year, and dont do anything else to protect your PC... ANY (once again repeating for you, because you seem to be seeing only stuff you want to see) ANY program which is installed in ring 0 (doesn't matter if it is Windows, Linux, OS2)... which works above any administrative priviledges, might lead into serious security risks, which MIGHT lead into hijacking the PC... That can happen if the company providing the ring 0 applications, does not give a flying **** about the security of their product, or the product is designed to abuse that fact by default... If SecuROM, is secure enough or not to not pose any security vulnerabilities to our systems, will be decided by the judge in the class action lawsuit against EA... untill then everything you say is same bull**** to me, as everything i say, is bull**** to you...

fixed... see it can be said both ways... and both are 100% accurate... No, it can't be said both ways. You stated that allowing software to install in ring 0 I'd be lucky to not have my computer hijacked. You made the claim, and hence, the burden of proof is on you that SecuROM will allow people to hijack my computer, preferably within a year. To refresh your memory, here's what you said: "If you install any type of programs which works in Ring 0 and dont reinstall your PC at least once in a year and have static IP address, you can consider yourself lucky if you dont get your PC hi-jacked few times" I know people such as yourself love to try to turn things around like you just did, but it's a fallacy and exceptionally poor scientific method. You'd be laughed out of research for suggesting your reasoning, because it's quite frankly grasping at straws. So, buckle down and put your money where your mouth is. You stated that if I install programs that work in ring zero and don't reformat my computer at least once a year, I'm lucky that I don't get hijacked. You surely have some sort of proof to substantiate your claim, and none of this bull**** of turning stuff around. But somehow I have a feeling that's all you got, which is why people don't take the crusades you go on seriously. To reiterate: For your claim, THE BURDEN OF PROOF IS ON YOU. I'm not going to buy any of this bull**** pseudoscience that says "well, you don't know either" [with lame ass 'fixed' added to boot]. You might as well be a religious evangelist telling me to believe in God because while he can't prove he does exist, I can't prove that he doesn't. It's a bull**** argument used by people that have no argument. Do you not have a legitimate argument? blah blah blah Why should i be obliged to proof you anything? Proof is to be made in the courts in the people vs. EA (spore securom lawsuits)... i am not part of them i dont care about you trying to spin anything i say... As i said both things said are 100% correct, unless you convince be that not a single PC with static IP, containing software working in ring 0, could not be hijacked... And bringing God into technical question is absolutely ridiculous... EDIT: Saying that companies abandoned StarForce because of bad publicity is total bull**** aswell, if you have not noticed SecuROM has much worse publicity than Starforce ever had... And the companies are still supporting SecuROM... EDIT2: Not to say, that believeing company, which was already once found guilty in distribution of their self-made Rootkit on music CDs and saying it does nothing, is crazy aswell... but what i can say about crazyness in the world, where many people are still buying their 5th Xbox after their 4 previous got RRoD or E74...

I have Original, and missed the Enhanced Edition, so I will be buying it for sure... If you dont like it, no one is gonna force you to buy it, just download the patch... But i'm enjoying the news!!!

The anti-DRM crowd is full of bold claims but extremely light on actual studies, papers, etc. For instance the claim that Starforce burns up drives would be fairly easy to demonstrate: Buy 200 identical DVD drives: have 100 of them running starforce protected games non-stop and have 100 running non-starforce games non-stop... there should be a statistically significant difference in drive life if starforce does burn up drives as claimed. Apparently, every single anti-DRM person in the world is poor and cannot afford to bankroll such a study... I just have to listen to anecdotal stories on how Starforce ruined someone's drive edit: I am in no way endorsing Starforce... I think it's a crappy form of DRM. But in the same way I don't assume a defendant with a crappy background is guilty of murder I don't assume these hardware destruction stories are true because of the crappiness of their DRM scheme. Show the proof The fact, that every single publisher (except some russians) left StarForce behind and do not want to touch it again, is for me proof good enough

Final Fantasy Origins

What's wrong with that??? You know Final Fantasy XI was released in 2002... so FF XIV will be released 8 years after... Which is imo logical... And i bet Blizzard has similar plans for their next gen MMO release schedule...

If it works only in Ring 0, it's bad... For me it is not bad, because i use Acronis for creating image of my PC's OS before i install any DRMed game... after i uninstall it i restore the image to the state before... If you install any type of programs which works in Ring 0 and dont reinstall your PC at least once in a year and have static IP address, you can consider yourself lucky if you dont get your PC hi-jacked few times
