  1. Huh? Did you buy them via the store or in the Kingmaker pack? I have the latter and they seemed fine to me... Unfortunately through the Bioware Store
  2. any info on DRM? I got burned by Bioware Premium Modules, don't wanna get burned again...
  3. I used to play a lot with ATARI BASIC and MS DOS so it's absolutely no problem for me if i have to go into terminal
  4. But he was at university, which means he was not very active in earning money am i correct? If it was not part time study... When I was at university everybody pirated the hell out of internet... after they got proper jobs they started to buy the games, and lot of them which they played for free before...
  5. And what that means? Developers/publishers should concentrate on adult audience, because teenagers will more likely pirate than adults, who have much different values... And they also do have much much more money to spend...
  6. Fully agreed with you, but i realy dont think anyone here is trying to justify that I have absolutely no problem with SECUROM 7 on my DVDs of NWN2 and their expansions, althought it little bit over the my definition of reasonable DRM (bacause of the malware similarities), but i would never ever touch the crap piece of **** that has Mass Effect, Spore or newest Riddick shipped with them...
  7. I can confirm you that nowadays even casual pirates knows how to get non-DRM product from some sites, which name should not be mentioned here
  8. No they should not as they would loose the business of people who do not like Steam. this
  9. Ah yes, the Linux heaven where you have to compile your own afterlife. It's hard to get started and a bit buggy at times but it makes it up by being ultra customizable. I run Linux (Ubuntu) and I've never compiled a programme (that wasn't my own) in my life). It also detects my laptop's hardware better than Windoze does. Ubuntu took Plug N' Pray and made it Plug N' Play. This pretty much sums my virgin experience with Ubuntu aswell... And i even think that Ubuntu is now more user friendly than any Windows... But i still use Windows 90% of the time...
  10. These groups are not mutually exclusive. Seriously saying that everyone who hates DRM is pirate is same bull**** like syaing that every muslim is terrorist...
  11. Pirates do not buy their games, people who hates DRM buy their games...
  12. Anyway NOD32/Eset Smart Security did not find anything on my PC. But i will do few more tests before i go to bed... EDIT: Ad-Aware did not find anything aswell...
  13. that would be sad if true but if true, it would be one of the best and funny strategies to put troyans in our PCs ever
  14. Still waiting for that one to happen. I don't follow the development of trojan horses, but historically the definition of them (and why they differ from computer viruses and worms and whatnot) is that they are an application that gets run with the expectation of one thing happening, and another (usually bad) thing actually occurs. I am unaware of Trojan Horses that don't require user action to take effect. Which ones do? It's news to me. I keep hearing stories that people post on the internet about how they left their firewall down for mere minutes and in that time people already started to attack them. I set up a network connection and port scanner and was a bit disappointed that I didn't seem to be getting persistently attacked I do have at least 2 - 3 attacks per day, in my firewall log and i have dynamic IP And i do get at least one per month or two remote shutdown on my PC, through one of the ports i have opened for communication My record was over 100 attacks in one day blocked by my firewall, but that was more than year ago...
  15. The DRM was always pointless seeing as it was bypassed right after the game was released - if not before, I cannot remember exactly when Mass Effect's was defeated. less than 24 hours after official NA release the game without securom and few bugs was hosted on internet, and two more days after russians released some tools which squashed all the bugs, and made the game 100% playable without online authentification...
  16. You are simplifying it too much. If you don't do the stuff you have mentioned your chance of getting troyan will decrease dramaticaly but you can get one from friends email, if he got troyan and never cleaned him, you can get him from USB, you can get troyans even remotely if you have bad/none firewall... You can get him even if you do not apply security patches to your windows, browsers and another programs which are connecting to the internet... All that attacker need to know is your IP and doing port scan... If you don't have dynamic IP, it's even easier for attacker to compromise your PC...
  17. where is my mommy
  18. How is it done then? Biggest troyan threat is from keyloggers specialy made for getting your login data from your PC. In one of my previous WoW guilds, one of our officers who is pretty much one of the most paranoid people about computer security, got stolen his account with such troyan... 3 or 4 days after he lost his account his antivirus found the troyan who were the reason... AV software is always few days outdated, something new pops up and you can loose everything... If it happens when you are on vaccation, you are pretty much ****ed and long time without the stuff you paid for... Happened to my close friend who was 4 weeks in Italy, and when he came back he had to wait almost another 6 weeks to get it back, because he found that his account got hijacked after he came back... I got stolen my CD-key from Counterstrike (Retail version), they told me to buy new copy, because my purchase ticket was nonreadable after scannig... I never have told anyone my CD-Key...
  19. Since most games have an online component these days, I'm sure everyone here has seen warning messages such as "[Company Name] staff will never ask for your password or personal information." It just so happens that Valve is the same. If somehow your account gets hijacked, you can get it back if it hasn't been banned for any sort of reason. You realy think that most of the account hijacking is done because people giving away their passwords??? If people have no problem with stealing accounts, they have no problem with different types of cheating... Your account can be banned before you even notice that somebody has stolen it...
  20. Only risks would be if you get suspended/banned for cheating or if you're dumb enough to give out your password to anyone online. Or someone steals/hi-jacks/phishs your account... Are these people dumb aswell? Happened a lot...
  21. now i got me new weapon \o/ http://mamoulian.mybrute.com/tf/2204596
  22. If it would be possible, i would not
  23. Patience is a virtue, but time is money
  24. You know, when i want to play a game, i want play right away not to wait for stuff to download and then to play
  25. I don't. Steam is just another form of DRM, albeit a slightly more attractive one than most. I agree that Steam is just another form of DRM, but I think it is less attractive than most. Most games of the past few years have still used CD activation keys and I find those to be far more attractive as a form of DRM. I love the Steam one because when I reformat my computer getting all my Steam games back is uber-easy. It's easier to redownload 50GB of games than to reinstal it from CDs? For me, totally. Having to dig out the discs and then swap them and have it install for an hour is way more of a hassle than setting Steam to download and doing whatever in the mean time. 50GB would take about 12h with my connection over Steam. Installing 50GB worth of games from my DVDs would be max 2 hours... And speaking about misplacing CDs/DVDs??? Seriously I have over 200 of them for 4 different gaming systems, and I have never ever misplaced any... And when i want install or run some old game, I can find anything in 15-20 seconds... All you need is good system for sorting it...
