Some immediate "feels" impressions. -I love you guys for including the voice slider, THANK YOU! Would still be great if you guys could get in more audio options for a patch (turning off combat barks and such) but this will be huge in improving my enjoyment! -The audio mix still feels a bit off in places I think. Footsteps feel pretty loud when compared to the clanging of switching around weapons for example. Everything seems like it gets really loud in combat but might be imagining that. Love the ambient sounds for the Inn though it sounds a bit... rowdy for a small-town inn like that. Not a biggie though, it really enhances the feeling of the place. -More orchestral music. The Dyrford music is now live orchestra as well as (I think) the combat music. Even the exploration music I think? At any rate, they are greatly improved since we heard them the first time. The combat music especially. It's still not a favorite of mine but it's *way* better now. The Dyrford music is really beautiful to my ears. -It was here before but I gotta say that the lighting changes are really nice when going from daytime to evening and such.

The Alpha Protocol drinking game presentation is still the best one! -
Was a long time since I listened to that one. Yeah, that is really nice and I do hope it's still in the game in one form or the other. I love the opening with the harp and chimes especially. Soft and mysterious. They haven't revealed much of the soundtrack. Sensuki ripped a few tracks from one of the earlier backer betas but I'm guessing those were not finished as of yet. No idea if they're gonna be in the game and in what state. I'm guessing at least some of those are live orchestrated now, as the main theme is (was only for the latest backer beta we got the orchestra version, earlier it was synthesized one). The music that's actually in the backer beta is pretty soft, background stuff and not really driven by melody (which some people don't like, personally I like this approach). I think there will be bigger moments in the final game, and more melody stuff. Unfortunately the music has been borked for the last few backer betas but I love the Inn music. Simple, classic guitar does wonders for the atmosphere I think. There will be about one hour of orchestral music on the soundtrack according to a dev I PMd about it. Well, as far as he could remember.

They abandoned with because it was a huge amount of work to make it work properly I think (there was some discussion a while back on the issue). I seem to recall them mentioning that they want to try and do it again for future project. -
Playing Crusader Kings 2, holy crap, this game is addictive...

Agreed. They've said they're gonna look into more audio sliders after release but I would kill for a toggle to have a silent party-leader at least. The constant "OK, alright, fine, mhm, indeed" and so forth is gonna drive me insane. -
Would sure be great to have an update before the weekend!

I wouldn't mind another kickstarter, but I do hope it will be like for Shadowrun Hong Kong or Divinity Original Sin in that case. That PoE will earn enough that OEI will be able to fun the sequel themselves and then, if need be, they can turn to kickstarter to get funding for the "stretch goals" that fell out of their original budget. I would happily pledge for a PoE2, though perhaps not the amount I put into this one.

I can't stand the FEARs after the first one. I think they completely lost track of what made the first one good. They just feel like cheap imitations.

Wasn't very interested in this initially but may give it a go eventually if my piece of crap computer can handle it.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1114977637/detective-di-the-silk-rose-murders New retro-looking adventure game set in in ancient China. This one looks pretty promising, with some cool gameplay elements to it. Hope it makes it! I'm in for the early bird.

Would be great to have some news on this!

First off, the game is not currently finished, the second and final half is supposed to be in beta now and will be released soon-ish. So regardless, I'd probably wait until that one is released. The main pull of the first half of the game was definitely the story. I thought that was very well done and while it looks "cutesy" and is very humorous, there is a dark side to the story as well. I really enjoyed that. Also, I think the game looks beautiful. Apart from that, I agree with the reviews that you brought up there. The first half is very short, and it is very easy. Doublefine is saying that the second half will be longer and more difficult as well and I can only hope they make good on that promise. If I were in your seat, I'd wait until the second half is released and see what people has to say then.

Playing Crusader Kings 2 with a bunch of the DLC. Took a while to get going (claims, titles and such still kinda confuse me and screw me over because I apparently missed something) but now I'm into it. It's pretty fun, certainly extremely addictive. Think I was hoping for something more though, not sure what I feel is missing. It feels a bit silly. I guess that's part of the fun, to screw around in a sandbox. But I dunno, kinda wish there would've been more "weight" behind certain things. Can't quite explain it. The UI also confuses me to no end. I had betrothed two characters and once they could get married, there is a little alert allowing you to marry them. I had accidentally clicked this away and it turns out that there was no way to marry the two betrothed characters through any other part of the UI (that I could find anyways). After looking on the internet, turns out the only solution was to activate "hidden messages" through a rather obscurce and hard to find option buried in the UI somewhere. Just a small example of how bad the UI is in certain instances, there really should be more ways to access such a thing as marrying two betrothed characters than only having the alert.

The box art for this game - am I dreaming?
Starwars replied to Grotesque's topic in Backer Beta Discussion
I like the box art, and I like that particular painting. But yeah, it does seem weird to use it considering that Cadegund (and Forton?) aren't in the game at the moment. Then again, doesn't really matter much and most people won't really care about that. -
WTB More Developer Leads Videos
Starwars replied to Bazy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Arcanum is one of my favorite games but there isn't much that PoE would stand to learn from it in my opinion unless you were to completely redesign the game into something more similar. Anyways, would certainly like to see more of the meeting videos. I also found it interesting. -
Angry Joe, ugh...

It's a terrible interview. I would never give my money to Molyneaux but it's very easy to be all "tough journalist" against a down and out developer who's now more or less a laughing stock of the industry. It's click-bait by RPS. How about trying for some real journalism, go after the bigger companies, the publishers and such? Not so easy when they might pull their ad-money I guess. Urgh. Molyneaux is about the easiest target in the world. But yeah, now RPS can get some points for being "hard-hitting journalists". It's pathetic really. About kickstarter, I think one should always be aware of that you're giving money to something uncertain. You're not purchasing or pre-ordering. It's a risk. And while I certainly think devs should be accountable (of course they should be), there is also a great deal of self-awareness there. You should be careful with your money, you should be aware that it's a possibilty that things might not work out, that things may change, etc. You shoulder consider carefully before dropping money into a promise. You're not going to exactly the game that's in your thoughts when you're viewing the pitch.
