BS skeleton fight
Verde replied to Kilburn's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
You can avoid a lot of fights if you want to. Anyway, the Principi ambush is pretty ridiculous. You start surrounded by eight enemies. You can eliminate one of the mages by blowing a powder keg but the rest will focus your backline to oblivion. Immediately running to the edge of the map and turtling there is your best bet but pistol shots will still hurt not to mention Finishing Blow spam from the rogues. I mean it's a simple dialogue choice. It's not like much effort is required. If you want to fight it out and not utilize other options, that's on you. -
BS skeleton fight

it is a bit annoying the various quest-related street ambushes on PotD, because you could trigger the quest when you're low level and have no idea you're about to get an extremely rough encounter. This is one of a few times where PotD just really punishes a lack of metagame knowledge. Can't you just choose the escort option to avoid the fight? -
More bugs with imported saved
Verde replied to Aranduin's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
He says that regardless of any import decisions. Its frustrating esp if you betrayed him. -
So I'm gonna need to upload a save but it seems like there are many issues with effects being applied. For example, Light of the Dawnstar doesn't show any benefit from scaling. Some of my cape effects are nowhere to be seen. Honestly this game is not even in a playable state. On the surface yes, but for number crunches and completionists, there are so many minor errors, it renders equip and builds useless. For example I've specced for Spell Resistance, only 9% from Light of the Dawnstar with no scaling, and no evidence of +20% spells resistance from the Gambion armor and Mirrorback cape. Overall I can't trust that most calcs are being applied correctly or at all. Am I completely losing it or is Deadfire being devoured by the Beast of Winter into the abyss?

A definitive "tabletop mode"
Verde replied to hamskii's question in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
As it is now I'd abound Abydon's challenge. You need to repair too frequently and I think requiring gold is too steep. If you're dungeon crawling what good does using gold do? I wish you could use materials. -
Eh... not really. Sort of. I realise this is an ambitious project for a relatively small team, and even smaller one nowadays. And I do know that putting new systems, like the entire turn-based mode, can break many seemingly unrelated things. Still, maybe don't bite more than you can chew? The amount of problems that have been popping up recently is disheartening, as the game was reaching a polished state. I just hope that people who want to buy Deadfire because of turn-based mode will wait till this stuff is fixed, because this is bad first impression of a game that is... what, 8 months old?I'd argue that the game hasn't been in a polished state or moving towards one. I can't think of any patch that didn't introduce a bunch of new issues or miss existing one. Some people who bought the DLC weren't able to start it before the last patch, and now we have this ridiculous issue. The problem is this - the empathic person in me sympathizes with the small dev team and all the work they've done. But the consumer and gamer in me, at this point, doesn't. If I go out and offer inconsistent services to my clients, then I get in trouble and it reflects badly on my company, regardless of what personal issues or company issues may be occuring. I appreciate the community involvement they have but this walk run issues shows a lack of attention to detail. In short, this is a business and we paid for a product that has been inconsistent in quality since day one.

Patch Notes for 4.1.1.0034

I like the VTC the most of all the factions (would be the pirates or Huana if it weren't for the outcome and ultimate plan of the former, and the isolationist stance of the latter). I hated the way they made me blow up a powderhouse though, but I found a curious workaround when I went to the Rauataians first and they forced me into a battle. From there, the VTC assumed their one big competition was done and dusted, and it was all ready to go without getting my hands (too) dirty. Ha I thought the RDC attacking you was a well done twist. As I said I think the last faction quests allotted opportunities for hijinks. I'll give you another example of annoying bug. So if you decide to talk to the animancers at the spiral to release Xotis lantern souls, the journal entry doesn't close even though the quest has finished...it still updates as well. Not game breaking by any measure but very annoying for the completionist in me. And I know this was a bug before, got fixed, and came back. That sorta stuff is frustrating:/ But the latest walk/run bug has me genuinely questioning Obs ability to code and QA and really hurts every gameplay session. Having to roll the dice whether I walk or run at any given moment, at this stage in the game's life, is just absurd.
