  1. I'm not sure, but my money would be on that George Bush went to private school, and had about a c average <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Sure as hell doesn't show
  2. For god sakes Obsidian! FIX THE DAMN AI! I hated KOTOR's! Ruined the experience at integral points (*cough* starforge *cough*). And don't even get me started on the damn bugs! What have you guys been doing all this time!?
  3. I thought that date on the site meant 1/05 as in February, of '05.
  4. Ya know, all of it's completely subjective...come's down to the individual's perception of greatness, so really...no true winner here. Just thought I'd toss that in there....and whoever said George Bush...Good god, man. Been under a rock for the past 5 years? The thread title says "The Greatest American", not "The Greatest Example of Failure In American Public School Systems"

  6. Insult??? You're making a big deal out of small words. Insulting was not the idea, pointing out that this poll makes no sense whatsoever was the point. Im sorry if you're hurt, but honestly, doesn't this poll seem a bit pointless before the game is even released? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...How's it senseless? Makes perfect sense...he's bored, and TSLless...as are all PC gamers. Were bored...therefore, pointless threads start popping up as part of an effort to retain sanity. Perfect sense. Not sensible...but...yeah, makes sense. I just confused myself...
  7. Hmmm...I think it was mentioned earlier, but the Han Solo books are pretty good. Star's End, The Lost Legacy, and Revenge. Nice reads, though they do tend to bog down at some points. Haven't read much in the way of SW, so my opinion might not be worth much...I pretty much just stick to horror/sci-fi/fantasy novels anyway.
  8. ::sigh:: Only 120...usually get up around 130 something on other tests Wow though...look at alllll that red. :D
  9. Heh, I remember that...one of the weirdest little glitches I've seen in a while...well, other than that screwed up thing in Halo 2 where you hit a guy through a rock and he appears on top of the level, like 1000 times as big as normal, and in weird, psychadelic colors...
  10. Battlefront's AI is just terrible... RC, the PC demo btw, is pretty cool, but, yes, the lack of nice ragdoll is a significant drawback. I like it though...and it's out in March, so there's still time for some tweaks. One gripe...why can't I see my feet? I get this great visored view...but I can't see my feet. Something wrong there. <_<
  11. Not much love for the FPS genre here I see. Yes, they're linear as all hell, but, well, some of the best times I've ever had in gaming were with the Halos. There's just something about clubbing a fleeing grunt in the back of the head with a shotgun that makes all of life's problems just dissapear . Republic Commando, from what I've read, and seen, is looking to be a definitive example of it's particular genre. Not to mention your a badass commando equipped with a nifty little gauntlet knife for pruning those pesky trandoshans. On topic...I haven't played TSL yet, as I don't own an X-Box, but I'm for damn sure gonna buy it. K1 was a rewarding experience, as I'm sure its sequel will be, lacking ending or not (*cough* Halo 2=Crap ending, but I still love it )
  12. If development hasn't even begun, then were talking another 2 to 4 years until a release is even probable. That'd make, how long since the original, and even Broodwar? Almost a decade...yet, I suppose it will be worthwhile, after all, up until recently, I still played SC off and on. I have confidence in Blizzard, they've shown themselves to be dedicated to quality gaming, and...well, they're one of the few developers I actually have any faith in (No offense Obsidian, or Bioware). Hope it's soon, but I'd wait another 6 years to get a game as good as the original.
  13. Just a question....but....when, if ever, would be a logical estimate on a release, or even the beginning/continuation of development, for Starcraft 2? Blizzard even thinking about it? Or are they too busy toying with WoW support and fixes?
  14. What!? They're going under without giving me my damn VTM:B 1.3 performance fixer/bug stomper miracle patch!? Again! Raped by circumstance! Love the game, but jesus, not getting above like 10/fps is truly...truly a pain in the ass...even with all the effects off, or very close, and with bump mapping off... <_< Arcanum......never could get past that one major city...t...t...tar...something. Didn't like the game much...combat seemed too clunky, and not very balanced.
  15. Make sure you get the patch. There is a fatal error in the chocobo racing and you wont be able to progress otherwise. unfortunately I'm not really sure where you can get it these days. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Try http://www.fileplanet.com/120095/120000/fi...II-XP-Patch-1.4 Have to sign up with fileplanet....but, whatever. My games... Half-Life 2 VTM: Bloodlines NFS:U 2 LOTR: Battle for Middle Earth (I like it...slow pace, but entertaining) Call of Duty/CoD: United Offensive KOTOR Wing Commander: Prophecy (old...but I love the damn thing) Rainbow Six 3: Raven Shield Far Cry X-Wing Alliance (ahh...star wars flight sims) Heavy Gear 2 and, lastly...Oni
  16. Well, I'm trying to avoid a serious artifact problem. Don't wanna go overboard so much that I dimish the visuals . The reason I said "safely" is because those are the highest settings (400/850) I could get it in the manual clocker...thing...without the tester failing, and I want this baby to last as looooong as possible. Plus, I'm already running up at around 60-65 C as is, since I've only got one fan, not that sweet dual the GT or Ultra have. Maybe I should take off the side...and get my desk fan...hmmm... And I thought the production people turned off the other 4 pipelines on the 6800 vanilla because one, or all of them were faulty...and the use of them could, in fact, damage the card.
  17. Out of curiousity...and this is going to show my lack of knowledge...which is more important in terms of game performance, core clock, or memory? On a side note...just figured out i could get the core to 400mhz, safely...and only drop the memory by 5mhz to compensate.
  18. Wait...GPU core temp. or Ambient temp.? My core's at 63 C and ambient's at 41 C...idle...Gainwards normal ole 6800, overclocked to 355/855... Nice cases, btw, and you guys seriously know how to make an avid gamer jealous...what with your amd 64 bit processors...RAM...computers that run decently....and....with your.......your make-out parties...
  19. An ATI Radeon 9000 (pro, xt, I don't remember which) 64mb ran Far Cry seemlessly, at the same, if not better detail level than a 128mb Geforce 5600XT. So...it really isn't too wise to take ATI for NVidia copy cats, since the product itself is what defines the company. Then again, that card ran out of texture memory, and wouldnt allow me to play past the first level...but this 6800 is working nicely to alleviate my gaming woes cool case, btw
  20. Hmmm...there was a point to this topic somewhere...possibly near the beginning...maybe I'm just imagining that though. Two things to comment on! #1: I don't really have a preference when it comes to who develops KOTOR 3 (And yes Dr. Cloak, some of us like to be optimistic every once in a while.), seeing as how I've yet to play TSL...since...you know, the whole Feb. thing. Yet, from what I've seen/read/heard Obsidian seems to be more capable in the story department, and hell, I appreciate a good story, no matter the medium through which it is conveyed...So, based on that probable misconception, I'd pick Obsidian. #2: There seem to be a lot of bitter, opinionated people on these boards, and I get the feeling that a good deal of them are just here to sew discontent...bitter, opinionated people with a sense of humor (for the most part), which I can respect .
  21. <---PC User Great news for me...makes the wait somewhat forgiveable. Heartfelt condolences X-boxers. Had it my way, alllll the bugs would be fixed, free copies for all who brought the original, the whole trip........actually, now that I think about it, I probably would have delivered on that simultaneous release thing...so we'd all be screwed right now.
  22. Unfortunately the "fall to DS" part happens quite often in RL whenever religious or ideological conflicts flare up. A lot of people who want only to act for the best, sacrifice more and more of their morality in order to achieve their ideal (which needn't be evil in itself) and end up as either desillusioned cynical monsters or delusional monsters. Frankly, that's the path I expected Bastila's fall to DS to take in K1 - but unfortunately Bioware took a different and IMHO flat and disappointing approach. Anyway, I'll repost my thoughts from the "General Discussion" thread: But shouldn't the fall to DS affect NPC's reactions and perspective? I mean, it is such a huge thing in SW universe... They may still dislike certain type of behaviour, but their reasons should change - for instance they might think that it is too petty for a Sith Lord and thus demeaning or a sign that the PC thinks small or that it is a useless loss of time, etc. Also, doesn't being solicitious to your party NPCs in order to get influence result in LS points? I hear that there is no option to lie to them. Now, I also think that change of alignment is a very serious matter and should have been played through a quest or a side-event like in KOTOR1 (only there the NPC's either didn't follow your evil advice or if they did - like Mission betraying the Beks, it had no effect on alignment) . Actually the ideal would be a combination of both systems - i.e you'd have to gain enough influence with an NPC for their quest to activate. Their likes/dislikes or at least reasons for them should change along with alignment change. If after the change the PC persists in doing things they hate, however, their alignment shouldn't change again - such flip-flopping just trivialises the whole fall/redemption issue. Instead, they should just become less and less helpful and more derisive and eventually they should leave the party and/or fight the PC, etc. It would also be awesome if an NPC that left the party in scorn subsequently appeared at the side of your enemy in a boss fight, etc. And: Or maybe the most important of NPC's likes/dislikes shouldn't be aligned along the LS/DS axis to begin with. For instance, let's say there is an NPC who worships courage and reacts negatively when you duck any challenge. He starts dark, but you can redeem him. You'd still lose influence with him if you peacefully deflect folks spoiling for a fight, but your other LS choices shouldn't upset him anymore. Etc. Or an LS char that hated bullying to begin with might still hate it after becoming DS - as a sign of PC's weakness and small-mindedness, but would heartily endorse other DS actions. Further, you should be able to lessen a negative impact of your actions on an NPC to certain degree via high persuasion - explaining to the first how battling insignificant opponents is beneath you, for instance, and to the second that it is helping you towards the main goal, etc. I'd really love a game where I could slowly corrupt a young idealist via the "end sanctifies the means", "it's us or them" and "sacrifices must be made for the good of the future generations" route that works so well in RL ... <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Makes sense, and would make the game more involving, more realistic, by those virtues alone. Not sure I agree with the "hearty endorsement of all other DS acts save for the one thing they actually care about" thing. If you wanted this much depth, wouldn't it be prudent to give each individual NPC their own moral code, and belief structure, allowing the PC to gradually learn it, and use it to further his/her own intentions? That last part kind of scares me, Maia. Sorta reminds me of U.S. governmental policy .
  23. I don't get it. This system they've got certainly seems more sithly than KOTOR's constant bullying. First, people were complaining that the DS route was too direct, and made the PC seem like nothing more than a thug. Now, when the system has been revamped to be a much more...subtle, insidious type of thing...people whine that they can't bully their party members around. I thought the sith were more than just brutish morons. I thought they worked in nice, evil, manipulative ways, turning friends against eachother and causing the downfall of all that is good by pulling certain strings within it. Guess I was wrong. Thanks Ender, agree with ya wholeheartedly.
