  1. They don't use common sense. After all a majority of them are teenagers. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hey...I'm a teenager...and I have a decent understanding of common sense... It's gettin' really hard to avoid the spoiler forum...Ah well, just another one of those things I'll have to deal with, I guess
  2. Lucky bastard <_< $300 Golden sample Gainward Geforce 6800...I can't set Kotor above 4x AA and 8x AF without some pretty bad slow down. Guess I've got nothing major to whine about, yet I find myself frustrated I can't enjoy my games at the highest visual quality available. On topic...God I hope they add something extra...despite the odds. I understand it can take a while to translate a game to other languages, find/fix bugs, and generally just make the title look all nice n' shiney...but 2 months? Why...oh why...would it take that long?
  3. Seems to me that both parties are to blame for problems with the product, although LA, being the ones in charge of setting a release date, which was quite possibly not known by Obsidian when they'd signed the contract, ought to be held a bit more accountable than the developers. Then again...I bear a grude towards all forms of big business, despite their field or past actions...So I might be a little biased .
  4. Here's a question...why do I still lag in KOTOR at the higher graphics settings (Above 4x AA 8x AF 1024x768) when I've got a gold sample Gainward Nvidia 6800 128mb card, over clocked, 1024mb of corsair brand memory, a 3.0ghz Intel pentium 4 processor, and run the game off my 80gb SATA hd? As a matter a fact, all my games have been running badly...I've done virus scans, defragged the drive, ran Ad-Aware a couple times, and even adjusted the clock speeds on the card...to no avail...Help....Please...$250 on this damn card and its performance is almost comparable to my old 5600XT.
  5. Hmm...Didn't take long to degenerate into a petty flame war, now did it? Whether all of you like to believe it or not, performance comes down to the individual system (Not counting, of course, the consoles, which are all manufactured exactly the same.), and even the most minute problems can have a major affect on that aforementioned performance (incompatibility, process conflicts, etc.). So really, why argue about this? Is it really worth it? It's only another month and a half, guys... On the topic of bugs...I've seen some pretty bad console bugs, weird slowdowns, and even a fatal error or two with older games, but the majority of those only seem to occur in rare circumstances the developers couldn't possibly have planned for. There are also untold numbers of PC game bugs...the major ones being fixed by various patches that come out after its release, while the less obvious are left for gamers to find and bitch about...after which, another patch comes out, partly to get those same gamers to stfu... From what I've seen, they come out about even, though the PC versions do tend to have a few more bugs than their console counter-parts...as was mentioned, there are literally millions of different variations in PCs, all of which can't reasonably be accounted for...unlike the consoles. Ya have to admit THAT at least... BTW <---Proud PC Gamer :D
  6. Wasn't the FF movie considered a monumental flop though? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> It was a flop because it had nothing to do with Final Fantasy...that and the plot was thin...very...very thin. Great visuals though...and I liked the voice actors.
  7. So...basically, what your saying is...I think...that mass, once it reaches a certain velocity, no longer applys, in that the basic concept of matter then becomes moot, that it just sort of spreads out, or shrinks to infinite levels which the human mind can't even conceive?.............I'm confused...math and science aren't exactly my fields of expertise, use of vocabulary and other things relating to the spoken and written word are more to my liking...since I can understand, and have a certain amount of control over it. This is what I get for sleeping during that damn psyhics class...but it was so boring! All those equations and numbers and letters and....AHHH!!! What I wouldn't have done for some dumbed down versions of what the guy was saying...
  8. This may be a bit off the subject, but I just have to ask this, since the majority of you posters seem to have a pretty good understanding of physics and its ilk: What happens to an object (meaning, at the very broadest level of description, matter) when it goes into a blackhole? Is it atomized, obliterated, erased from existence, or is the result somewhere on the opposite side of the spectrum, like, is it made something "more" or "better" than it once was? Or does nothing happen?........I'm also curious about wormholes...from a scientific perspective...preferably devoid of complex math equations. On the topic, couldn't some sort of limiter be devised to control the blades size, length, etc. or maybe an artificial barrier around it, like glass, but porous...It seems impossible, and I'll admit, irrationally childish to think such a thing is probable......but stranger things have happend in the world...
  9. Amen brother...having a conscience sucks, doesn't it?
  10. Never in my life have I felt more like a child This is a bit too complicated for a Junior in high school...and I can't possibly offer any sort of idea or argument to the possibility of the saber's creation.......but wow, I didn't even know some of those words existed. Who really knows, maybe well have "lightsabers" some time in the not-so-near feature. With the way mankind has been advancing, from a technological standpoint, a hundred...two hundred years... seems plausible...
  11. To each his own, I guess. Your problems with the game, Halaster, seem to be centered around a lack of DS...hmmm...can't really think of a word to describe it accurately, though a few come to mind that are close...hell, I'll just go with "playability". Being one of those stalwart LSers, (I've mentioned this before in other threads, but I've got one hell of a conscience, about even little things like games) the blatant lack of DS favorable outcomes was forgivable. Along with that, you seem to not be as able to fill in KOTOR's "gaps" with a little imagination as I am. I don't mean that as an insult, or anything of that nature, but it's just an observation...Personally, I liked the characters. Primarily, it was for their flaws, since it made them seem a bit more human than the average NPC. Like I said at the beginning of this post, To each his own, I guess...
  12. Couldn't agree more...and maybe get the skin tones of the bodies to sync up with the head's while they're at it.
  13. Shin's got a point...It is indeed the little nuances that give stories their edge, their "flavoring", if you will. Were it not for the nice little touches and psychologically pleasing aspects of KOTOR's "choices", I'd of never even considered playing the game........ok, yeah, I would have played it...but I wouldn't have enjoyed it.
  14. I'm not going to feign knowledge of swordmanship, or anything that pretains to it (Other than "Sharp part goes at bad guy") so I really can't offer a decent argument...though I think I can contribute to the over all point of the thread. Katanas were the swords of Samurai, correct? Lucas, I believe, has made reference to the jedi being somewhat based upon samurai...in space. I'm pretty certain he said something to that affect, so to me, it really makes this point worthy of note Devs . I know that TSL is way too far into development, but perhaps KOTOR 3 (Provided that there is going to be a KOTOR 3), could somehow implement it...
  15. To be perfectly honest...I'm both excruciatingly angry with LA for lieing to us AND for not being able to play it for two months after the X-box release. The temptation for spoilers in and of itself is reason enough for me to be mad, were both versions to be released together, there'd be no instances where I'd be clicking around and "accidentally" stumble upon a few pages of nice, satisfying, but ultimately fruitless information. In a way, were all still whining...I mean, who doesn't expect this type of under-handed marketing ploy to be made by a game company.......though the argument that it is wrong, is, of course, well founded. Why isn't Obsidian saying anything about this? Don't they realize, as Shinji said, such a move by LA also affects them...negatively?
  16. Well...this being the first time that I've heard of this development...****!!! ****!!!! ****** *******!!! ******* LUCAS ARTS!!! Ahem, sorry...but it's kind of a dissapointment to be told, over an over again, that both versions would be released together...and then to have them suddenly go "Oh, nevermind, X-box comes first, just like last time. Sorry, but you PC gamers can stand to wait." Well I can't stand to wait! I want the damned game at the soonest possible moment! Things like this are what truly strain my faith in companies...what little there was to begin with...
  17. um...you do know that the other topic was created by somebody else...right?
  18. I agree with that whole-heartedly, even though I never really play DS, I'd still like those who do to have the same number of choices that I, the LSer, have. Perhaps a more dynamic system for faction recognition? You know, so the NPCs would react according to your DS/LS point level in different ways, since we all know full well that no good jedi carries a blood red double-saber, wears black robes, and looks like death incarnate. Anybody else plagued with a morale code? I mean...I can't even be a jerk in a digital world for god sakes...because afterwards, I'll just end up feeling like an arse and reloading from an earlier save game...
  19. All I can say is "wow". I just spent a good thirty minutes reading all of this, (That's right, every single word) and am shocked by how clearly and intelligently all of you have managed to convey your thoughts. Before this thread, I'd assumed that these forums were composed of nothing but angry, illiterate children. While I may not agree with some of the points that have been made, however valid and infallible they may be, or seem to be, I still realize that each is just that, VALID. So, with that in mind, I'll just toss something out there. Agree, or disagree as you see fit...preferably with some relevant facts to back up your position...not a three paragraph post on how much I suck... 1.--- This is a game. The developers put an amount of effort into these things that I, in my utter laziness, couldn't even begin to comprehend. So lay off of them, they do what they can with the tools that are available, and I may be wrong, but a perfect game engine specifically built around the player's ability to choose hasn't been created yet. That makes the observation about pen and paper RPGs being superior to digital versions quite accurate. 2.---GhostOfAnakin. He made his point, though rather unclear at times and relying on a fair number of strawmans, ( As Aegeri was eager to point out. ) was still legitimate, in that it provided another view on the subject. Illogical in some places...yes...but still legit. 3.---Seeing as how I've never played either game in the Fallout series...which I'm beginning to get curious about, since the gameplay appears to be outlandishly open according to your descriptions...I can't offer a decent comment on its failings or successes. But I can say this...FO and KOTOR are apparently two vastly different games in terms of plot progression and routes, since KOTOR has a pretty linear story-line and Fallout is more...vast in its aspirations of PC freedom, so, reasonably, how can one compare them? 4.---In regards to the Final Fantasy thing...Well, I just don't believe that any of the games in that series could be defined as a true RPG, save for the very early ones. Something about them just seems off to me. I know that's not a good enough reason for thinking that, but I just can't explain it any better. Don't get me wrong, I like the FF series, particularly the more recent ones (Rikku...for a combination of pixels and voice-overs, is kind of hot... .) That's really it, considering that most, if not all, points I desired to make upon first glancing at this thread's title have already been made or disproved. Thanks for reaffirming my faith in this forum...
  20. then why the darn heck are you on the "star wars forums" huh? "the stereotypical fanboys do" what this is out ragous "stereotypical fanboys" theres only 1 stereotype for guy's wich is the sport waching mega mainlyacks. and girls is the only caring about looks type or at least the only major ones... not saying anyone is any of them <{POST_SNAPBACK}> ...What? (I thought palpatine was the senator) Well, there's nothing to say that hasn't been said...so..........uh.............................So.....you guys like this new fangled thing called "Electricity"?
  21. Didn't really like the SF robes all that much...anyways, for the most part, I agree with the choices of clothing you've given, but 5 years have passed, remember? Anything can happen in 5 years...who the hell knows....they all might be completely different...........Provided they aren't all a bunch of burned 'n mangled corpses, DSers. I'm a LSer through and through, so all the character's making an appearance for me, is guaranteed...IF that whole save game/opening questions thing works correctly.
  22. I'm well aware of that...it was only a suggestion, and an effort to divert attention from your glass  ..................................... Yeah, well, um... Star Wars Galaxies would be a good option, provided that you can stand MMORPGs...I'll be quiet.
  23. I like 'em, although I think a few of them have been discussed...a lot. Those that haven't been ( To my limited knowledge ), are good ideas, especially #s 1,2,4,6, and 8....::cough::
  24. Couple things...First, sticking to the main point of the thread, I'm in agreement with this, although I don't want to play Revan again, I'd still like to see what happened to all the old characters. After all, It's a story, and I like my lose ends neatly tied. ( Personally...I went LS all the time, since I've got very...very....VERY annoying things called "Morales"..... <_< .....I hate them....so, so much...So in my case, all the characters would still be breathing.) Second, the original trilogy is so widely acclaimed because of how damned original is was. I mean, it was made in the 70s for godsakes. You know what the 70s were like for movies, right? :: mutters something about Shaft and Logan's Run :: Basically...people like them, because they're just so.......hell, it's awe-inspiring to think that something like that could be formed in the human mind. Plus....swords made out of light and laser guns...C'mon, what's not to love? ....................I like to pretend I'm an intellectual ......
  25. Personally, I thought the swoop controls were fine...though they were a bit slow...anyway, I think the idea of auto-sheathing has been brought up before, try the FAQ or looking around the forums for info on it.
