Will the economic crisis affect the video game industry?
theslug replied to ramza's topic in Way Off-Topic
Said much better than I was going to but I definitely think we are going to be seeing an even greater restructuring of the market (becoming a tad smaller) with the big companies trimming their fat while acquiring small companies on the cheap and small/medium companies kind of just disappearing from lack of financial stability since this economic meltdown was unforeseen in their budgeting and they are going to lose millions before they get a return on their games. All it takes is less than mediocre sales. -
sounds very cool. what kind of stuff do you do?

Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed A documentary hosted by the great and wise Ben Stein about intelligent design. Well not exactly, it's more about how scientific freedom has been limited by the academic elite who are favoring Darwinism and if you even begin to entertain the thought of intelligent design involving a god you get black listed. Let me first start out by saying that I liked the movie. The music score was absolutely fantastic and the way it was shot was extremely aesthetically pleasing not to mention it had Ben Stein who is super awesome. To tell you the truth I honestly had no idea what the movie was about until he began narrating because I just saw Ben Stein and netflixed it, either way as far as quality goes you could have told me they had a multimillion dollar budget and I would believe it becuase the film was extremely well put together. As much as these parts rocked, the content of the film was kind of lack luster. I mean the interviews and the film were good but the subject is not something I'm particularly interested in. I think that exploring spirituality and science, specifically things that deal with the extreme micro or extreme macro, are interesting but an issue dividing scientific academia from religion, not so much. I give Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed a 8.4 out of 10 Edit: I see you gorth, I done nothin wrong, nothing wrong!

I've seen a red light in the sky that moved around all crazy like but it was most likely a super top secret flying vehicle from area 51. More importantly I was out camping once and I saw a nuclear weapons launch with my own eyes. Well it wasn't nuclear but it was definitely a rocket because it had a tail of smoke behind it. I wasn't exactly close either. But it was a freakin rocket!

I'm in that young lad becoming a man stage where I look 14 without facial hair but I look trailer trash if I grow it out for a week.

In my experience juggalos and the "band" they follow are deplorably worthless people. They have 0 worthwhile characteristics except for reckless abandon and that gives me hope that they will light themselves on fire or jump off a cliff. Horrible people.

I fear the large deep dark water thing and social interaction and not really scared but actually yeah kind of scary but not appropriate for the forums but girl part. Very scary, sometimes even nightmarish.

Sorry Hurl, I must have confused your kid with Tak's kid. Though looking back I suppose that's unreasonable seeing as the kid probably wouldn't be able to fit his giant head in the costume in the first place. Zing. jk

I feel very conflicted about this situation. On one hand I feel an ominous warm feeling in my chest cavity where I normally experience an abyss of dark lifelessness but on another I can't help but think your turning the boy gay.

The Bridge. A documentary on the Golden Gate Bridge....and how it is where more people kill themselves than anywhere else in the world. I first heard about this movie about 2 years ago when the films creator was on a radio show I used to frequently listen to and I was thoroughly intrigued. The premise is quite morbid but a great subject in my opinion. Sadly, that's where my praise ends. The film was boring as hell and consisted of just the friends/family describing the stories and motivations of those that had died and that was it. It was completely lacking in one of my most favorite movie elements that is mostly found in only documentaries and that is narration. I would have loved the director to just jump in and split the monotony with some commentary of his own, maybe some stats, just anything to get away from those people for a minute. I do have to say before giving my score to anyone who would be interested that they do show footage of people committing the full act. That is, contemplating their life at the railing, making the decision, and hoisting themselves over and the camera catches the fall straight into the water so it could easily be seen as gruesome by women or young woodland critters. I suppose I do have one extra praise and that was one of the dudes was a complete bad ass when he went. I mean just turned his back and sat on the railing and then just christ bombed/scuba dived it into the water. That was pretty insane. The Bridge, I'm sorry to say old friend but you didn't make the cut. You were 24 suicides a year out of 39.764. Wouldn't watch again nor recommend.

Walsingham. I knew you were a man who could manipulate the very fabric of reality but how do you poach scrambled eggs?

Iron Man Pretty good comic book movie considering most (all) of them are bad. The suit and fights were pretty neat and well made and cg'd which I enjoyed quite a bit though stuff like the light in his chest and the electro reactor looked quite cheesy but only a minor complaint. The acting was pretty good throughout (with the exception of pepper) and I loved the casting of Jeff Bridges but I'd say my main gripe with the film is the storyline and some of the setups but other than that it was enjoyable. I give Iron Man 924.138 out of 1000.

Ugh I lost almost all interest when I saw Terrintino in it. God awful blowhard sob. I'll probably still watch it though. -
All those self made guys are all blow hardy d bags. They think it was all their work that got them to the top even though it was most likely a team of people like me in the shadows. I'm sorry that you had to endure wals. :'( This is why you need an assistant who can be a certified yes man and also with a small investment of $1,350 could also be your body guard who is a master of the deadly arts of jiu jitsu and various striking techniques. ?

I second Kirottu's motion as long as there is a pro-futa clause. There should also be a Hall of Fame where everyone can see my best posts since I'm probably the coolest/funniest person on the board and new people need to see that so they know who the big dog is around these parts. And finally a feature that relieves Fio of his moderating duties permanently becuase I'm tired of having my civil liberties trampled on when trying to make a crippled hooker joke.

BioWare/Lucas Arts game unveiled Oct 21
theslug replied to Maria Caliban's topic in Computer and Console
Just give it like 3-4 years after the mmo tanks and we will have a new story with new characters and a new time line and new graphics engine and new combat system and new everything and life will be good. The game will sell well enough to where they decide to fast track a sequel, but it will be more like a version 1.3 with extra buggy features included. The star wars community will see it as a general disappointment but it's star wars and has light sabers so it's still awesome. Then a year or two will pass and everyone will be like omg where is star wars game number 3 supposed to come out? And then another couple of years go by and all those little boys and girls who were beloved fans of the game have grown older and more bitter. They tried to fill the gap. Reaching out to friends and family at first but to no avail. The hole in their hearts just seemed to grow deeper. Then they got introduced to black tar heroine and it numbed the pain in their soul, for a time. Next thing you know half a decade has past and your well into your way into middle school and your giving out sexual favors to the school janitor just to scrape up enough cash for a fix when you see it. It's a major announcement coming out of lucas arts and all the sudden that hole in your heart doesn't seem so deep anymore, for the first time in years your giddy with joy and anticipation. Later that day you jump off a bridge because it wasn't the game announcement you wanted to hear but instead it was George Lucas getting surgery to removed the immense fat deposits around his neck. It's a gd dmned shame. -
Had my econ exam yesterday and I'd say all in all it went well, most likely not an A but I think I could pull a B out of this one and I really hope I do. Tonight I have my business law class and get to see what I got on that exam and seeing as how its mandatory for teachers to put up a mid term grade expectation and mine was an A I'm assuming I did quite well on the exam or he's just super optimistic. Either way, I scarfed down some corn bread and a delicious cold beverage not two minutes ago so I'd say things are looking up for the old slug. Well at least for the time being. I did lose about 200 dollars on the stock market tumble yesterday but I should be alright, you don't lose until you sell amirite boys.

Yeah seriously unless you have aids or just took a course of chemo you should get it removed immediately.

Something weird happened today at work, something so weird, dare I say....magical? It was as if time itself had somehow moved ahead without my noticing. It was a very strange day indeed. I also got my repaired xbox 360 back yesterday so that's cool but I have an exam tomorrow in my econ class and I tried to study but I did my patented 5 minutes of looking through my horribly written notes and then proclaiming that "I will wing it! Mwhahaha" Last time that happened (3 weeks ago) I barely slid by with a C- so I think I'm going to double my study time and then go light on the winging it portion.
