  1. I has fried chicken and cold beverage. Life is moderately good for the time being.
  2. What kind of garden do you have gorth? I want to start a garden but it means I'll have to research what and how I can grow stuff out here in the desert. I know tomatoes, lettuce, rosemary and a few other things do fine but I want something that's awesome. Something like carrots or bell peppers. My grandparents have one that is pretty nice. It's got the usual suspects but they also have stuff like green beans and peppers and stuff and it's so awesome that rabbits try to ravage it on a regular basis. In other news I deposited some money into my online brokerage account and bought about 70 shares from a couple different companies. Now I just need to find a place for the other half I deposited and then start an ira with the vast majority of my other money. Long term wealth for the wins.
  3. Code Geass R2 finished a couple of weeks ago but it was definitely a great watch. Probably in my top 10 good. Would definitely recommend. Other than that I haven't been watching anything besides macross frontier up to ep 13 becuase it was lame as hell. I've heard that Xam'd lost memories and Casshern are good so I'm dling those but I'm going to probably end up marathoning those instead of a weekly deal.
  4. Although I did a bunch of stuff today not one of them included studying for my business law exam tomorrow or my econ exam next week. I did work out pretty hard though and since I don't have any whey protein available I grabbed a hunk of cold corned beef brisket and ate it with my bare hands. It was pretty intense and awesome. Heck yes. edit: delicious
  5. Got quite a bit of stuff done today. Went to the bank, set up my online brokerage account, went to school and made chicken scallapini which was pretty amazingly good if I do say so myself. I also played some video games and watched some tv. Still waiting for my xbox 360 though. >:[
  6. What about the giant meat hammer? How awesome was it on a scale of 10-15. 10 being amazingly awesome and 15 being putting a shotgun in your mouth becuase life no longer has any value.
  7. Keanu is pretty awesome. In street kings he took a shotgun blast to the abdomen from 10 feet away and still killed like 7 dudes with a pistol.
  8. How odd I was reading about this movie yesterday. On some MMA site there was a short clip of an MMA fighter named Quintin Jackson that is in it and once I saw that cold, calculating bad ass English dude with a giant meat hammer beating him up, I knew I had to research the movie further. So I read the plot synopsis and I was like damn this movie is awesome, until I read the ending. :'( If it came on tv that would be awesome (though unlikely) but other than that not watching.
  9. The Hammer. As some as you may know I'm a pretty big Adam Carolla fan and I enjoy his work. This movie is basically one he put together himself, co-written and produced and edited and financed. Even though it's a low budget film it had actually pretty decent production value, nothing too fancy or anything but it worked and it was a nice little film that I enjoyed quite a bit. It was funny, albeit a lot of subtle humor but it was just chalk full of clever wise cracking and what not, just a type of humor you don't really see in movies and its something you can really appreciate becuase it doesn't rely on retarded set ups or shock humor. The story follows a 40 year old construction worker and part time boxing instructor who gives boxing one last shot after being fired from his construction job and being dumped by his girlfriend. The plot obviously isn't anything original or particularly moving but it does it's job and keeps the film interesting. I could continue to praise the film but there is really only one complaint I could make against it and that was some acting on the part of the antagonist. This is basically where the low production values came through becuase I suppose they didn't have the budget to reshoot. In a few scenes Adam's character is going off on a rant or something and the antogonist can't help but laugh or smirk and they tried to edit it out as best as possible but it slipped through a few brief scenes. All in all it was a very charming comedy and something I'd recommend. I'd rate it a solid 9 out of 10.
  10. I just watched the newest episode. Season 4 Episode 7 - 6:40 - Possibly the funniest thing ever said on cable tv. I honestly didn't see that coming but it was hilarious and extremely crude but that's how I like it. So far tv has been sub par lately. Fringe and Heroes have sucked. Entourage has been decent at best. House is alright. There are some bright spots though, star wars clone wars, always sunny and the ultimate fighter have been pretty good thus far. Haven't watched dexter becuase I'm waiting for a huge binge on it but i'm sure it's awesome and I can't wait.
  11. Today I had work. :'( I basically did a bunch of crappy stuff which included the dreaded shredding machine. I don't know what it is but I think one of my bosses doesn't like me or something. For some reason shes been kind of a b**** lately. Like way over critical of the stuff I do and expressing it by getting this like pms im angry tone with me and like I'll tell her something, and she'll say something, then I keep feeding her more info but what is coming out of her mouth is the same thing every time like I'm some kind of idiot. Then she takes a look for herself and finds out I'm right and then it's "Oh perfect." and then shoos me away. I'm a very sensitive man and it hurts my feelings. I'm not sure what my job security is like (I'd imagine extremely low since I don't really do anything important besides doing stuff that my bosses don't want to do or don't have time for) but a part of me wants to get laid off even though I desperately need this experience for my resume and I got what I wished for even though I've learned the error of my ways and I don't want to work ever again. Please adopt me walsingham. I'll pet your animals, wash the dishes, break peoples knee caps, I don't care.
  12. new best friend <3
  13. When I went to get mine I was in the waiting room and the chick before me was filling out paper work. Then she found out her moms insurance didn't cover anesthetic. That's when the water works turned on, big time. Then I walked in and I was like sucks to be you, lulz, and then they took me in a side room and were like yeah it's very possible that you could suffer nerve damage and not be able to control your mouth, could die, and even then I was like alright whatever. And then I got put in the chair and they put the heart monitor and stuff on and they were like get ready to count down from 10. And I'm like 10, 9 - "boy u gonna get raped >:3" - :'(, x_x. Then I woke up in the chair, procedure took about 35 minutes, I got slepped out of the back entrance into the car and then I crawled upstairs and went to bed.
  14. Can I meet you there? We could be friends irl
  15. I just tried to look up cases involving children in cars who died and it seems like mothers get sentenced to jail time more often than men but it doesn't say how long they are incarcerated. But I mean seriously, involuntary man slaughter involving a child (I don't believe this is the way they try parents for some odd reason and instead go with child neglect or something but I wouldn't know that's where enoch needs to come in) and only 2 years, that's lenient worst case scenerio. Looking over the site, the guy probably had a past record or the court took into account the alcohol, which sure when he woke up like an hour or so later his blood alcohol level would have cleared.
  16. What, we were never married. ...and prone to self-denial too Interesting point about not being made to last past 40. A lot of things speaks in favour of that idea. *Cough* (looks at birth certificate) Thank you Gorth. I realize I'm a retard but you guys don't need to gang up on a poor defenseless slug. :'( You guys should be ashamed of yourselves. Just jealous of how awesome I am and that I'm potentially almost reeling in a girl while you guys are busy being haters and losers.
  17. We didn't evolve for life past 40. Hey don't yell at me. That's what I've heard from doctors.
  18. that just ain't natural It would seem nature disagrees with you. That's not nature. Humans weren't really even meant to live past 40.
  19. that just ain't natural
  20. A girl asked me to be in her group in my econ class this morning. It was actually pretty weird. There's probably 100 kids or more in the class and I don't know one of them. Anyways I'm sitting there taking notes and she comes in late and sits right behind me, then I get a tap on my shoulder and she asks whats up, so I fill her in on a little exercise for the excel project. And she's like so are you in a group and I'm like no. And then there's this silence for like 4 seconds and shes like do you want to be in one with me and I was like sure. If she follows through she's lucky since I'll probably end up doing the entire thing over a weekend since my math 132 class was basically the exact same thing. However I wouldn't mind spending some time and developing something more than the creepy econ partner relationship.
  21. Thank you Enoch most of that I already knew but I didn't know index funds were a good idea right now. I was actually going to start in an index like you are kind of supposed to but now the market sucks so I thought they'd be dead. And yeah I thought about going to a real brokerage firm or something but if they were any good at what they did they wouldn't be working in cubicle but instead be relaxing on a beach somewhere with many a young whore and delicious margaritas. At least that's what I would do. I just don't know what to do anymore. I mean I know I could open a roth ira or something and put all my ducks in there while adding money from paychecks and I'd be a millionaire ez mode but I'd also be like 60 years old and I want to be rich now and not when a million dollars isn't really worth a whole heck of a lot even though it's highly unrealistic. I just don't know. The returns from stocks will have higher earning potential especially if I started in this market for the long run but with my knowledge I'd be pigeon holed into only a few categories like banking and oil for the next couple of years since everything else is so dangerous at this present time. I'm so scared. Edit: Yeah I glanced over some tax stuff but right now I'm a student and make like 600 dollars a month so the capital gains tax will be the minimum (I believe 5%) so it wouldn't hurt too bad in the short term. And while I do plan on making a decent pay check, 5 years from now when the markets have strengthened I could probably sell for a pretty penny without getting back doored by taxes. Then I could rejuvenate an IRA with a nice lump sum. And I'd only be 25.
  22. Yeah I'm kind of thinking one of my picks will be Citigroup. The thing is they were supposed to purchase Wachovia and then Wells Fargo swept them up. However, that's most likely illegal since I can't imagine citigroup not making wachovia sign a contract somewhere along the way not to mention they wouldn't bring Wells Fargo to court if they didn't. Last I heard the court deal was halted or something, which is good becuase it means there is some real stuff doing down and when Wachovia comes back to citigroup their should be a decent surge and I could short sell but historically they have held at about 55 so their is definitely some long term value their. Course you're not supposed to use historical data to predict the future however that doesn't mean it can't give a relative picture of how they will do when the markets fully recover. And right now, record high volatility in the market. Volatility = Value (and risk) But there's a hell of a lot of money to be made out there.
  23. Bigger, Stronger, Faster. A documentary about steroid use and performance enhancing drugs throughout American culture. I wanted to really like the movie but it ended up being only above sub par in my opinion. I'd have to say the main problem I had with the movie is that I couldn't find a clear message besides cheating is wrong but cheaters win. I can understand him wanting to just present the facts and let people come to a conclusion but he didn't really do anything like that what so ever. It was convoluted, first exploring the moral implications of cheating in organized sports, then the social impact of body image in american culture, then going back to cheating and all this other stuff. Just kind of misplaced and unorganized as a whole. My main gripe would have to be that he never defended steroids in any meaningful way which is total bs since they are proven to be efficient and non harmful when used correctly. In fact I'm considering doing them myself. Either way the premise was cool and the guy doing the documentary had his heart in the right place. I give Bigger, Stronger, Faster 84.7831 milligrams of internet shipped horse steroids out of 100.
  24. I know what I want to invest in and I understand enough about the actual market to invest semi-competently but I don't know anything about the middle man aka online brokers.
  25. So I've decided I'm ready to start investing. I would have been a rich man had I invested in Bank of America, which I had my eye on, which was at 16 a share and now a week later at 34 a share. A minor set back, but infuriating none the less. Anyways, I know as a beginner to the investing arena you shouldn't buy single stocks and instead should go with all this other crap like ETF's and what not but i'm a hard ass and I'm ready to make real money. The only problem is, I need a broker. Most of the places I've been to like E*trade and Fidelity have high transaction fees and are ridiculously hard to follow with all this crazy nonsense trying to confuzzle the average joe from making an honest dime. So far the best one I could find is FirstTrade. The thing I'm worried about is are these a holes going to commission my hard earned exploitation of the current market failings? I mean they get a transaction fee but will they take a percentage of my sells too? I haven't seen anything like that on their websites so I don't know. Also this stuff is done through a bank account correct, and if so does that mean I can just transfer money at the click of a button, and also will this mean transfer fees? Also any other tips besides "be diversified" would be much appreciated.
