  1. Finnish version of Gamereactor gave the game 5/10. Though I wouldn't put much weight on that score since I'm not even sure if anyone reads their paper version (or if they got one) or if anyone takes their no name reviewers seriously. Apparently the reviewer "loved" You can only blame yourself if you build your char like a moron. Who would even try to play Fallout 1 or 2 with only melee skills? He also a made comment about how he felt that a truckload of chimps were sent to polish the game at the last stage. Overall it seemed like the guy was expecting shooting mechanics and designing from Mass Effect 2 and I think that and the Moscow hub mission showed in the score.
  2. It isn't great, but considering the bashing by both the reviewers of the world, and also your type -- it's not bad, either. Seriously... That's a bad number regardless of the bashing. Heck, Blur has sold badly in the UK, something like 10k units if I remember correctly, and that was well recieved. 30K world wide isn't even worth talking about. Actual sales figures cost a fortune, and then they're not exact. Read much? Like I said in the original post that 30k was for Europe only and on consoles. Europe is often considered more of a pc market anyways so it's not all that alarming. For example Dragon Age: Awakening has reportedly sold total of 37k copies for consoles so far in Europe. And that's in 11 weeks.
  3. Never took me that long for the textures to load on my 360. Encountered a nice animation bug last nite though. Guard was just about to jump from a rooftop to another when I shot him. His body ended up waving in the wind like a flag on a flagpole... :D
  4. Those personal opinions people have about Obsidian & KOTOR2 (or their other games) effect sales on every game that Obsidian makes. So, no it's not completely irrelevant.
  5. It will blow my mind since I was expecting something special and not a sequel to a generic series. Though it's not "mind-blowing" in a good way
  6. It's hardly irrelevant when lots of gamers think like that. At least on few finnish gaming sites pretty much every discussion about Obsidian turns into arguments about KOTOR2 vs KOTOR. Salewise it was a success, there's no argument about that. I was talking about the image the game gave Obsidian. Since people still moan about the game being "unfinished". And no, that's not my personal opinion. For me KOTOR2>KOTOR.
  7. Weee, Ziets is the lead, should be awesome. So since WoT isn't being worked on... 1 team on FNV, Ziets and Feargus leading the unannounced Onyx title and
  8. And we will do horrible things to his beard.
  9. Since it sold like 2 or 3 million copies last year. And it's MMA. o_O Rechecked from vgchartz. About 2.6 million copies of 2009. 2010 sold ~ 600k copies on it's first week.
  10. Since it sold like 2 or 3 million copies last year. And it's MMA.
  11. Not only RDR, but Alan Wake and UFC2010 as well. The effect on sales ain't huge, but there is an effect for sure during the first few weeks when 4 more or less big titles are released in a matter of two weeks. Naturally as weeks go by it will eventually even out as people finish playing around with RDR / or whatever they bought and look for other games to play.
  12. RPGs are fairly niche genre. Even more of a niche market on consoles (at least here in Europe). Sequels or popular settings such as Star Wars are an exception, you can label pretty much anything with Star Wars and people will buy it. Even such a huge title as Dragon Age sold "only" about 75k units on 360 on the first week. About 30k on PS3 few weeks later when they actually got the PS3 version to Europe. Not everyone considers KOTOR2 a success. I know a plenty of people who think Obsidian ruined KOTOR with their sequel, which is just stupid. Do you think people like that are gonna buy another Obsidian game as a day 1 purchase? Too bad we can't see the PC sales from Steam etc. I'm fairly certain those numbers would be more impressive.
  13. Well yeah, just not that many pre-orders apparently in Europe. RDR still killing competion. I would imagine Alan Wake, UFC 2010 and Alpha Protocol will sell steady through out the summer after everyone who picked up RDR is done with the game. Does anyone know if they are planning on releasing the game in Japan?
  14. vgchartz.com only reported 30k sales on consoles in Europe for the first week. No idea though how accurate those numbers are and Europe is more of a pc games market anyways when it comes to rpgs. USA pre-orders were about 100k total (65 for 360 and 35 for ps3) one week prior to release.
  15. If you do not like stats, why are you even playing a crpg?
  16. I guess the Wheel of Time project isn't moving anywhere yet.. So what is that
  17. Isn't that your typical game reviewer? At least she stayed quiet most of the time.
  18. It's not that simple. First of all licensing engines cost quite a lot of money. I think Obsidian originally bought the licence for Unreal Engine for Project New Jersey (Seven Dwarves). Then there's the fact that maybe the company owning the stealth action game engine won't want to sell their engine to someone who would create a game that will be competition to their own stealth games.
  19. Can't speak for the pc version as I've only played the 360 version. If you have a console, get the game now. Only bugs I've encountered so far were couple of guards disappearing after reloading and that's after 1
  20. Just start a channel on some popular server. Such as quakenet or stratics. And then try to get a bot there
  21. Sure why not, just set it up on somewhat useful network
  22. And some art assets you can recycle and use.
  23. On KOTOR2 the fault lies on both parties. Obsidian for agreeing on such short timetable and LucasArts for not budging at all and then releasing a game that could have been a masterpiece as somewhat unfinished. I wonder how long it would have even taken them to finish the endgame... But then again Obsidian was a new company at this point, so I would imagine that they didn't really have much choice (drink up!) in the matter. No one in their right mind would have passed on that deal. On NWN2 (from what I've heard anyways) the fault lies solely on Obsidian for being too ambitious and trying to add too many features in the game.
