  1. If they'd kept the ending exactly the same, but had your two squadmates there to say "Red's what we were fighting for all along" and "I'll never let you choose green!" then I doubt the furor would have been more substantial than it is for every overhyped game.
  2. Fair enough about the 1995 look, I can't even remember what it looked like until I looked it up. But I don't see Batou being done justice, either. I'm similarly skeptical of them doing the world justice. It's possible, I'll grant. But I think that'd require more of a budget than anyone's willing to commit to starting up a sci-fi movie license. I'm thinking it would be on the scale of Guardians of the Galaxy, and the only reason that got lit is because of Avengers and Iron Man before it.
  3. I was never impressed by the original movie beyond the setting. Standalone Complex gets real interesting though. I see a lot of people say that, giving different reasons why it wouldn't work. And I can't help but disagree. I think it can work in the broad strokes, but not the details. Cyberpunk can work, but I'm not sure if we're ready for the prosthetic work covering up large portions of the male leads face and a female lead that dresses like a sex worker. We're talking about a AAA movie here. Which means they're probably going to want to make things a bit more safe than that.
  4. I just don't see Ghost in the Shell translating into a western film. Not when the main character dresses in what amounts to a bathing suit and a jacket. On the upside we might see Scarlett Johansen running around in a bathing suit and jacket. Or even full frontal, y'know, for stealth.
  5. I decided I wanted something positive of the game community and sent a praising e-mail to Telltale Games. I immediately regretted it because it was simply badly written. Really needed a complete revision and some planning. Maybe after Tales of the Borderlands episode 2 comes out I can find the excuse and they'll have forgotten that rambling piece of crap.
  6. I can't stand the revised ending, either. I just think the ending misses the point of what the audience is after. The squadmates aren't there at all. Try and think of another piece of media about a group where they all get shoved away before the climax. Dark Tower comes to mind, but King didn't exactly nail that one himself. His own writing of it showed he wasn't too sure, going so far as to advise readers to skip parts of it. I mean, it would be kind of like if The Walking Dead ended without Clementine present. The most important thing in the franchise is not the Reaper's goals, but the ending cared about nothing but.
  7. It's good enough aside from the nitpicks. It's the weakest of the three games, with the least exploration and stuff to do, but it's an expansion so that's expected.
  8. The trick is to find one of their spawns and let them retreat when the icon over their head turns into an alarm. That triggers a reinforcement wave. After a few of those, the Matron will spawn. I've been playing GTA V for PS4 and feeling like I'm wasting my time. It's not bad, but it's not exciting. I bought Alien: Isolation for a second time recently (previously owned on 360, but since I disconnected that to make room for PS4, I rebought on PS4) and should be playing that instead while I wait for Wolfenstein: The New Order to arrive. Edit: Did I mention I beat The Wolf Among Us a few days ago? It's officially my favorite Telltale game, unseating Tales of Monkey Island. Tales of Borderlands Episode 1 is good and has the promise to be even better, we'll see.
  9. I'm willing to buy your claim about Maze Runner, but saying that about Divergent is simply tipping your hand.
  10. Every time I see this thread from the front page, I have a brief moment where I entertain the fantasy that we're getting a video game adaption of the DC comic book where the golden age heroes wage a war on the 90s anti-heroes. And every time, my heart breaks just a little.
  11. I didn't say "ya'll" were involved in the doxxing. I only used "ya'll" for the reporting of Sarkeesian to the IRS. Something that is being adovcated for in this thread, or at least given positive attention. I probably should have changed pronouns instead of just said "and" on the Zoe Quinn. GamerGate is doxxing Chris Kluwe. GamerGate is digging through Zoe Quinn's Livejournal from when she was a teenager. I'm kind of taking a piss at your defense from previous posts about "stated goals," because it's abundantly clear that GamerGate is detached from its stated goals. As evidenced by the actions of GamerGate and often times the actions of people within this thread. Last time I was here I did call out someone for e-celeb drama, yeah. Because he was engaging in e-celeb drama. These are the actions of the movement GamerGate and they are oft sickening and disturbing. And everytime I come in this thread I kind of have a vain hope that you guys will be as ashamed of this stuff as everyone else is. The actions of GamerGate in attacking people are far worse crimes than the things GamerGate is supposedly standing against. Just seeing you say "that **** is terrible and I wish it would stop" would have meant so much to me. This stuff can not be ignored and swept under the rug. And if GamerGate's supporters aren't willing to call it out, then everyone else has to. But there is a bit of an edge of hostility in me. I'm scared of you guys and I'm scared of this thread. That's part of why I don't really engage except to pop in and out. But each time I pop in I'm not seeing positive things. I would have loved that, it would have really turned me around. But the first thing I always see is someone supporting some of the worst elements of the movement. Someone advocating for the attacking of its enemies, regardless of reason or justification, or "stated goals." And when you're not part of that safe in-group that GamerGate won't call to attack, it's sometimes terrifying. I know I'm not really up to be targeted, I'm not that important, but that doesn't mean people I know aren't. That doesn't mean that people who are a part of this community aren't. That doesn't mean that Obsidian couldn't be eyed next. I fear every time I see this thread that maybe since I last looked that Sawyer (didn't he support the Feminist Frequency kickstarter?) or Avellone could have spoken out against the harassment and been put into sights as a result. And when I come into this thread I fear what I'll find. Maybe it'll be a few of you continuing the insipid "culture war" oblivious, but maybe it'll be a few others saying "hey, look what I found on KiA, they're talking about Obsidian and..." And the thought of where that goes scares me. Because that is what GamerGate is engendering in not just its worst moments, but even its supposed best. The e-mails to advertisers were about trying to shut people up with opinions that some people didn't like, it was about trying to threaten jobs to censor speech.
  12. Mosaics are bugged, too. A few pieces are unreachable. I'm kind of proud that I got all but one bottle through normal play. I bet the last one is in that dungeon I skipped.
  13. I started up The Wolf Among Us last night, played for 30 minutes before I went to sleep. Have you ever heard a phrase that you thought you understood, but never really felt before? To put it frankly, this game has charmed the pants off me. They're in orbit now and I'm not sure they'll ever come down, I'm just glad they weren't my good pants. I woke an hour and a half early this morning just to play more.
  14. And now GamerGate is doxxing Chrus Kluwe. Currently attempting to dig up private information on his parents. Real classy. https://twitter.com/ChrisWarcraft/status/550172890860380161 Though I also like how ya'll are reporting a non-journalist to the IRS just on the vain hope they find something because you haven't. Also totally in line with your stated goals of "ethics in journalism" and not what everyone perceives your goals to be of "finding any possible avenue of attack on those speaking against harassment." And still stalking Zoe Quinn, too, it seems. Despite her not being a journalist either. I'd post the redacted jpgs where they discuss finding her hidden livejournal and are pouring over it, but they didn't redact all the inappropriate language.
  15. Finished The Walking Dead Season 2. Maybe I cut some onions there at the end. Maybe. Criticism is that the cast aren't as strong as the case of season 1 in the beginning. But it gets better halfway and beyond. It's still not as good as season 1, but I also felt less sure about some of my choices than I did for season 1, which is a good thing.
  16. That's why I like the war table. I get to tell other sods in my organization to handle a lot of that, down to gathering herbs. Now if only all of it was moved to the table or other delegation systems.
  17. The first area is painful to play late on because everything is so easy. Warchiefs are especially bad since they stop ranking up, they can't do missions. At least in the second area they might have been 20 and Legendary before hitting Warchief.
  18. She can b.... I can not think of a way to make that funny without also being creepy.
  19. The stuff right above your replay includes talk about the Mage/Templar choice. Little changes in Exalted Plains, I'm fairly sure. You get a special dialogue with the commanders to tell them the war is over.
  20. I'd hate to kill Messenger, he was my favorite Disciple.
  21. Are you kidding? The Exalted Plains was the worst part of the game I think you missed the context. We're talking about changes due to the Mage/Templar choice. I suspect you think we're talking about how we would hypothetically change the game to improve it.
  22. I don't see how Exalted Plains could change. The Templar/Mage quest, Haven battle, and Temple of Mythal are what I could forsee really changing. With some support quests like Samson's armor. I'd be curious to hear what else, though.
  23. You've got to lure them to other parts, campfires work.
  24. Defenders are the worst. Defenders that prevent you from jumping over them are SGDW$G$#$^##$#!ETRETWRTHWRGHSNF. Ranged guys are easy enough, they tend to shoot their own dudes if I'm surrounded. Though I did have trouble with one crossbowman who was also a combat master that I fought in the open. His only weakness was explosions.
  25. There's plenty reason. Not having enough time. There's simply too many games in a backlog, why keep adding to it? At least you might get around to drinking that cup of coffee.
