Bioshock interview @TTLG
Amazon.com is listing it as a WinXp game. Shouldn't need Vista if so.

Age of Decadence combat video & article
I think part of the articles is satire. They're talking about how it will still look like turn-based to the untrained eye and are making references to bullet time.

Now now, Laozi, the Obsidian forums are a serious geopolitical stage!

RPGWatch Torment interview
1) Combat is both singular and plural. Combats is incorrect. 2) Combat in even Baldur's Gate, the ever popular Final Fantasy games, and Diablo are all pretty mindless and pointless. Even in the RPGs that focus on combat, combat has rarely been a particularly strong point of the game.

Why People Hate America
I'll tell you all the truth about why people hate America. Boy bands and Pop music. McDonald's doesn't help, either. Everytime I get a quarter pounder with cheese (mustard only, or god help you) I hate myself a little, too.

half-life
I could never get into They Hunger. Maybe because I was such a late adopter of Half-Life, having only been reintroduced to PC gaming in 2002 or 2003. I also hate OpFor, just for the record.

Why People Hate America
I tried to find an angle to make fun of the thread. I was going to parody it. It's quite easy since it has an absolute lack of any citation (let alone credible citation) to throw any numbers you want right back as a counterargument. But I decided it wasn't going to be funny enough to be worth my time.

If this is a member's first post, I can't see them being all that productive to the community.

Never heard of this problem. Have you tried deleting the configuration files just to see if it's anything in there? I also know people reported problems with dual core processors, but that resulted in an entirely different issue.

"Meaningful evil"
I think the King of Shadows was ultimately pretty dull. His minions were mostly dull and resultingly he was dull. There wasn't really any complexity, just confusion.

im a bit quirious
I know nothing of this, but surely google does! http://boardreader.com/t/D_D_Rules_18752/C...ion_201887.html Full BAB, Full Caster Progress, D10 hit dice? Hold the f'ing phone! Sounds pretty imba to me. I don't think any prestige class should be particularly stronger than a standard class. What exactly is the downside to this class to make up for these bonuses?

"Meaningful evil"
I like the way Pop thinks. However, I disagree that the long term villain is best layered and complex. I say this to modify why he's saying, not completely argue against it. I think the long term antagonist structure (I use the phrase "antagonist structure" to refer to a system that allows for multiple villains and complex relationships between them) is best layered and complex. Aside from characters like Irenicus where you peel away to uncover the whole plan, there's also the possibility of organizations, formal and informal, that you peel away to find out the whole plan of the organization as well as the head of it. It's a relatively common mechanic. The main difference with what Pop is saying is that it leaves room for a mustache twirler at the top of the antagonistic structure. I want to think of a good example of this but the main thing going through my head is Xenogears. While Xenogears had a very complex antagonist structure with Grafh, Miang, Deus, Shevat, Cain, the Gazelle ministry and the lot. Deus is ultimately the prime villain, however without the relationships with all the others it could have been quite dull. I wish I could think of a more popularly known example of a complex structure of villains that worked. However, I think as an example, Deus works incredibly well as "meaningful evil."

I always found Consular to be the easiest. The ability to spam force powers to nearly destroy the enemies in one (and occasionally two) shots for everything you encounter does make things a tad easy. About the only difficulty I ever had was getting my party member's out of trouble.

Do you let your character fall to the dark side
I choose all of the above.

How fast can you run a mile?
I think the idea sounds horrible. Nobody's going to want to host it.

Games you are looking forward to
It'll save me 5 bucks to buy it all over Steam. hmm

How fast can you run a mile?
No, thats what I'm saying. World records are like saying this guy could probably eat the most hotdogs in the world, so what he eats is the world record, or that guy can really smoke cigarettes so how many he smokes in an hour would be the world record. All I'm purposing is that maybe like once every couple of years, or every year even, then get together the most likely candidates to set these records and make them compete to get them instead of just handing them out to the guy or girl who appears to be the most capable. Like if some one wanted the world record for acting, they could get together all the world's best actors and they could literally act it down to the last person, man that'd be cool. That's a large part of what happens. World records aren't handed to the most "capable." They're not based on promise. Someone makes an accomplishment, then that is recorded and becomes the record. Then another person challenges the accomplishment, people come out to record it, if he beats the old record, he sets the new record. Sometimes this is done by contest like you describe, as well. In other words, world records are nothing like "saying this guy could probably eat the most hotdogs in the world." They're like saying this guy has eaten the most hotdogs ever recorded in the world. They don't pick record holders off promise, they pick them because of the achievement that itself sets the record.

Is there a catchy phrase pertaining to the confusing of arguments with evidence?

I may just rebuy Civ IV. Never bought Warlords, but might as well and might as well get it in a package with IV. I'd buy it over Steam, but 4X strat with no manual? I'm not insane!

I prefer not to spend $40-60 on games that I play once then promptly forget about.

Are you coming on to me, Musopticon?

How fast can you run a mile?
I had thought as much. With all the trolling I do of others, you'd think I'd have a sense for when others do it. *shakes fist*

How fast can you run a mile?
I'm not trying to be offensive, it's just I've never heard anyone ever claim that world records are theory before. So, I'm attempting to explain to him what one is.
