  1. Medical Wing question: Try to keep the spoiler answer to a minimum. Area I'll find it in, whether or not it's easy to miss, etc, please.
  2. Part of the problem is people viewing it as an argument. That's irrelevent to the point I was making. For the purposes of this forum, I used argument, because that's usually what happens here. If you want, just replace the word argument with discussion or debate or somehting similar. Whatever you want Tale. The point still stands. I think my point still stands. Jerk or no jerk, when people come into it determined to convince others their beliefs are wrong, that's usually when it gets out of hand. That point is true, but it isn't about people veiwing something as an argument. It's true regardless of what you're going to call it, and I agree that it's part of the problem. I just don't think you should single out arguments. People can have religous arguments, and religous debates, religous discussions, religous talks, all of it. Your point can be applied to all of it. I disagree on that point. I consider debates academic, discussions social, talks social as well. Arguments are specifically about trying to make someone else believe your point of view. Often emotional, aggressive, and not based in reason. They are anti-social, anti-productive. I cannot say the same of debates, discussions, or talks. It is when such transition into an argument that they become a problem. Wait, what point are we tossing around here?

  4. Deleted because I don't want this to turn into an argument or debate on whether Little Sisters are vampires or not and whether or not Big Daddies are respectable.
  5. So, let me get this straight. Because there are little girls in it, they're automatically vampires. Because the Big Daddies are on the cover, they're automatically cheapened. Or rather are cheapened because that makes you automatically want to kill them all. I have a hard time believing this came out a developer's fingers. The language is just so silly. I'm not even sure I can recognize the genuine distaste that originates it. It reminds me of LOL, HORSEARMOR!
  6. What about 1/31/07? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Mooninite5.jpg Nevah fohget! Wait, this is a tangent!
  7. The big daddies are the protectors of the little sisters. They don't threaten you until you threaten the Little Sister. Under water is the outer space of the retro, man. I'd like to hear your complaint about the Big Daddy. To me they seem to be a great representation of strength while still keeping the underwater theme. They're very imposing while wearing armor that is recognizeably consistent with the theme, but not cliched or overly traditional.
  8. Little girl vampires are actually intended to be threats to players. Little Sisters are not. They establish this very early on in the game. The first one you encounter leaves you alone when she realizes you aren't dead. They are meant to be a little creepy however, simply by the route of little girls who are scavengers.
  9. The little girls aren't meant to be scary. They don't attack you. They're intended to be a slight moral dilemma in that you get fabulous rewards for attacking them.

    Guilty!

I believe the root of all good would actually be sugar-cane and sugar-beet. Especially sugar-beet.

Where's the adrenaline in that for our overaggressive sport's stars and their friends?
  12. I bumped up my resolution to 1440x900 because the sub 1440 res isn't a 16:10 and it runs swell! I do notice an occasional LOD drop, but that's almost exclusively when loading into the game.
  13. Part of the problem is people viewing it as an argument.
  14. People agree with me on lots of things. Not necessarilly because I know what I'm talking about, but because I speak with passion. It tricks them into thinking I'm an authority. I'm good at making people think I know what I'm talking about when I really don't. Which is why I was voted most likely to follow in the footsteps of David Koresh by my High School (he's from this area).
  15. Is this the thread where we're to talk about this kind of thing? I don't want to get into it and it be a tangent or anything. I'm the guy who doesn't even believe in "free will," so it's not uncommon for absolutely nobody to agree with me on philosophy/spirituality/religion.
  16. Keep in mind that Steam is abiding by region release dates and times. In fact, it's getting a later time on release dates for this one.
  17. What does alcohol + ADHD do? It exacerbates the ADHD, that's all. One way I like to describe ADHD is that it's like being tired all the time without being sleepy. Hard to focus, always kind of drifting off. I like this description because the standard medication for it is stimulants, adderoll, ritalin, hell caffiene can work wonders at times. Alcohol, on the other hand, is a depressant. The day after I drink, the effect can depend on how much I had to drink the day before. It can range from simply missing my exits constantly when I drive to not even noticing other cars that don't have their brake lights on. It can be like you never even bothered to wake up in the morning even though you're sober, fully conscious, and energetic.
  18. Exactly the point! People are such jerks. I think we should get rid of them. Funny that all Mac people I have met (all are Computer Science students) are exact opposites of what you described here. Given your track record of Apple hate, what conclusion can be drawn here? That your school's CS program is overrun by hippies?
  19. Never been a big drinker. But alcohol makes ADHD monumentally worse, even the day after drinking, and I have enough problems dealing with it as is.
  20. If I hadn't given up drinking I would try this.
  21. Nah, my windmill will likely never show up. I'm one of those guys who'll fight a revolution because it sounds all neat and romantic. But when they have us all cornered in the barn I'll be the first to stab my fellows in the back hoping the MAN will look favorably upon my newfound devotion to social order.
  22. *ponders* *draws a blank*
  23. I don't. You certainly seem to, however.
  24. I still haven't seen a Big Daddy or Little Sister beyond the first 2 that you can't fight.
  25. It has a similar inspiration to Pip-boy, the 1950-60s. I don't know if it has the same artist.
