It's not a console. Valve is unlikely to be getting money from hardware sales except for the ones they're going to be selling themselves, similar to how they operate Steamworks. SteamOS is even available for regular users to use for free, you can essentially build your own Steambox.

You mean something like: "True to it's name, the Steam Machine also steams milk. Combine it with your already existing coffee maker, or add the $20 coffee maker attachment for an all-in-one cappucino maker/gaming machine ready to tackle an all-night gaming session." I was hoping that maybe it would be coal operated.

It's basically what lots of people assumed the "Steambox" would be. Or at least from where I sit. Sad that there's not more details. Something new we didn't already figure out.

Well, since the GTA-series has been a satire of hyper-masculinity and mass consumption, i would bet that the female lead would not behave very feminine so to speak. Am I the only one filled with a quiet rage every time someone claim GTA is a satire? It's power fantasy with some self-awareness. Self-awareness can be confused for satire and there's lots of satire in the unimportant details (such as Republican Space Rangers), but there's also crude jokes and parody just as frequently (Post-Op, hi-larious...).

Can you show me where EA mentioned this? I have seen the number strewn about, but I thought the word used was "expectations." People are playing the phone game with a comment about Dead Space 3. It was said that Dead Space 3 needed to sell 5 million for the franchise to continue. And that was it. It wasn't said that it needed 5 million to be profitable. It wasn't said that all EA games need to do that. Just to keep doing Dead Space games.

This is based on a misunderstanding. Yes, movies use 24 FPS. But they use motion blur, which covers it up. Humans have no problem discerning higher speeds. Even I can tell the difference between 24 FPS with extensive motion blur and 60 FPS with far less blur.

I'm playing a game I refuse to name. But let's just say that I don't see how GAME 6 can top it.

Your analogy struck me as "only the criticisms I agree with are valid." Yes, you absolutely can criticize a romantic comedy for not having enough action. Just as people criticize Transformers movies for being dumb or Bioware games for being too actiony without enough roleplaying.
-
How about if I read half the vocal internet opinions on the average Transformer movie. Or other Michael Bay explosion vehicle. Or a particularly non-zero number of opinions of Bioware games. I can imagine several people around here, and elsewhere, reviewing Dragon Age: Inquisition with scathing commentary about romances and CINEMATIC EXPERIENCE. And those same people giving complaint that no professional reviews hold similar criticism. But surely, you should expect that. So you can't comment. Or something.

Word is that Valve has been working with nvidia to improve drivers. Anyway, this is one of the things I've been waiting on before doing my next build. I hate buying operating systems just for the DX version. Hopefully this'll get more to transition to OpenGL.

Spec-Ops: The Line is set in Dubai.

What kind of slavehouse are they running there? All the best game studios allow it.

I don't think she likes those kind of cats.

I still like DA2 more than ME3, anyway. I can actually like Dragon Age 2, I just can't praise it and I get annoyed by latter parts of it. The plot wanders too much, the area reuse doesn't even try to look natural (cemented over passageways and a minimap filled with areas you can't access), and a lack of agency that is a disincentive to replay. But the characters grow and have their arcs. They feel appropriate and well thought out, though not all of them are as interesting as even Origins. They still have a role to play and perspectives to give. And however wandering the plot may be, it's thematically consistent for the most part, down to the ending. If you can get past the lack of agency that even allows for those themes to recur throughout the game.

Sterling talked about it as being outdated, or some equivalent term. But gave a plus that there's stat growth and gun customization. So I guess you can improve that.

Ever? Like, as a principle? That seems bizarre. I played III and Vice City before deciding sandbox car theft was simply too much rehash. And it wasn't until Red Dead Redemption and Just Cause 2 that I felt that was changing. GTA IV I got on extreme sale and thought it still failed to really advance from III, let alone approach the competition of Saint's Row III or Sleeping Dogs. None of it's making me establish a rule about "never ever."

They are amusing games to play. I've also wanted another game like this ever since I beat Sleeping Dogs. I liked Sleeping Dogs. But I liked it a lot for the combat. I liked Saint's Row IV, where I got VTOL and attack choppers. infamous where you get super powers. Maybe the three protagonist structure can make this one stand apart. I hear Trevor is funny, which is something I recall GTA IV also lacking to the degree I desired.

Nobody's interested in ideas. Everytime I say that, which has been many times, I always fear someone taking it harshly. Thinking I think their idea is stupid. But it doesn't matter if it's stupid or not, nobody's interested. Here's the thing you have to know about ideas. Everyone has ideas, probably several. Creative types, writers, designers, artists, they have more than most. And the big difference between their ideas and your idea is that they will like their ideas better, they will understand how to implement their idea more, and their idea will have a better grounding in what is a reasonable scope of work. So by default, any idea they come up with is better for them than any idea you can come up with. There's only one way for your idea to be made. Do it yourself. Or get rich enough to pay other people to do it for you.

This, after work. Conformity effects are fascinating. I haven't liked a GTA since III. I have absolutely 0 intellectual interest in GTA V. In fact, I need some sort of gimmick to be willing to glance at sandbox car theft titles. But with everyone talking about GTA V, I am for some bizarre reason considering picking it up after work...

Seems simple enough, move the ground tiles, put a light source at the front. Simple in concept, anyway. Figuring out the right timing on movement to make it smooth would be pain.

Playing the Dragon Age 2 DLCs. These are actually pretty nice so far. Though Legacy hints at being more of Dragon Age 2's "everything you do is a failure." I still liked the exploration of the setting. And Tallis apparently can't pick the lock on a wooden door, but can pick the lock on an iron portcullis. I didn't even know people put locks on the portcullis itself. That seems like a design flaw.

But the one in the picture is a Dwarven broodmother. Awakening had a human.

I'm just curious how far along Dragon Age was when EA bought BioWare? Somewhat further along compared to when Bono bought it. Edit: Sometimes I forget how 'linear' time functions.

I've decided I hate Isabela. The only thing she's good for is opening boxes, sheesh.

Who's now in control of the Bioware division after Greg and Ray left? Aaryn Flynn for Edmonton/Montreal.
