  1. It seems pretty limited, railroaded even, because of the way the whole story starts out. The start of PoE2 doesn't sound like it might be restrained in that fashion. Having more options at the start would definetly be great though, yeah.
  2. Sorry, heh. The thing is that the unique weapons and shields in PoE1 and WM didn't really deviate from the general shape of the weapon type and their unusualness tended to be more in their abilities and stories attached to them. Armor and other wearable items are more likely to have an unusual appearance in a 'WTF is THAT' sort of way. Though in PoE1, only the helmet, cloak, and armor actually appear on the character, and judging from the screenshot of the frog helm+scale mail armor, looks like it's still that way in PoE2.
  3. The size and weight of the harpoon makes it sound more like in the pike class. The most unusual PoE gets with spear/pike weapons are the Xaurip spears with their curved blades, which may actually make it a different class of weapon, but still lethal. PoE generally stays pretty realistic as far as weapons go, so, skull-flail aside (which would still work as you're still swinging around a heavy, skull shaped, chunk of metal), we'd probably expect the same of PoE2. Not that they wouldn't be able to fit in a spear or pike that sort of looks like a harpoon. I wonder if Xloti's scythes will be classified as a completely new weapon type or will just be classified as 'really strange looking hatchets'.
  4. What are you asking about the combat logs in particular? Also, you can mouse over each combat log entry for detailed information about the rolls and factors involved in each action. If you're asking about that stuff, I don't pay attention to it myself, so, wouldn't be able to help with the detailed stuff.
  5. The Dragon's Maw shield does seem a bit impractical due to the 3D surface, but otherwise does look cool. There's also the Aattuuk, which just looks unusual for a dagger, but it's still in the totally possible range. While others do have a point that a larder door wouldn't work for very long, it would still work in a pinch. I just see it as being a bit of a silly thing.
  6. Well harpoons are supposed to get stuck, you don't really want a spear to get stuck. Never mind, it wasn't even a serious question anyway.
  7. A harpoon usually has a rope or chain attached to the butt end to "reel in" the catch. A harpoon also has a hook on the end of it. It was a rhetorical question guys, lol. I know what the difference is between a spear and a harpoon, I meant like, whats the functional difference, which isn't much, since you stab something with one end. Although, given that we have sickles now, we might have a harpoon class weapon on it's own, independent from spears and pikes.
  8. Whats the difference between a spear and a harpoon? In all seriousness, given the setting, I could see some spears stylized as harpoons, but are functionally spears (or pikes, depending on size) ingame. Could possibly have an ability to mimic the effect of the backward facing prong harpoons generally have. The whole larder door thing is just something slightly less than serious and a bit silly. It doesn't have to be 100% serious all the time.
  9. Just posted that up on the Josh Sawyer's tweets and teasers thread a min ago.
  10. Something new! Actual credit for spotting it goes to Quillon though. https://www.instagram.com/p/BVDjIuJlZiE/?taken-by=jesawyer1975 Looks like it's the particle effect fade suggestion talked about on the PoE2 suggestion thread, not to mention showing off new particle effects for the fireball spell: http://forums.obsidian.net/topic/92423-poe-2-suggestions/page-5
  11. What version are you playing? Also, how do I post images on this community? I try to use the normal image extension, but it keeps saying that it's not allowed. https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/851591609353877115/9A02E0E0DE459EE2706F60C91187E755C8D11858/ https://steamuserimages-a.akamaihd.net/ugc/851591609353877220/61C109D9438FE46E7C0D0A6341130A0E9282E028/
  12. Yeah, that's what I was thinking of, but got confused whether it was a companion. The fact that it talks makes it sort of like a companion, though more like having a parrot than an actual companion.
  13. Copying a weapon from another game doesn't sound 'totally original' to me. There's also going to be a companion (or a sidekick? I forget) which is supposed to be a living weapon, that is, a weapon with a soul infused in it and.... completely independent? No idea if it'd float on it's own or if it has to be wielded by someone to have any sort of mobility. Edit: Oh, I was thinking of the weapon mentioned here: https://www.fig.co/campaigns/deadfire?update=278#updates , not a companion or anything.
  14. I wouldn't be surprised if there were sea monsters involved in random CYOAs or random events while at sea (possibly quest related). They've already mentioned various shipboard events involving crew and other things.
  15. I wasn't trying to goad you on anything, I was honestly curious what was up with the posting style. Haven't seen other people trying to get the same response out of you, so, it's independent of whatever you're talking about.
  16. Oh, probably could have linked that particular post rather than the top of the page. Anyways, curiosity satisfied, back on topic now.
  17. So, sort of roleplaying the Gromnir character and being RL Gromnir at the same time? Also, going straight to that link didn't explain it, had to go back about 8 posts for the start of the explaination, mainly that's because ToB Gromnir isn't mentioned at the link, but further back.
  18. @Gromnir: Offtopic, but I gotta wonder, what is up with you talking about yourself in the third person with the 'we'?
  19. Wouldn't it be more of a club? Or maybe it could be classified as a quarterstaff for a two handed blunt weapon.
  20. Besides, if they WERE going to be releasing some sort of tentative release date at around this time of year, they'd be doing it during or right after E3.
  21. Never seen the pot-lid helmet, but yeah, the larder door thing is a bit silly. Yeah, a lot of what are now cliche ninja weapons are simply stylized farm tools. Like the kunai as they appear in modern culture are actually based on (not historic kunai) but hand spade that was used for gardening. I don't think he's mute, he just doesn't speak any language that anyone knows. He's also a "Storm Folk" so it sounds like he's from a lost continent and was blown off course. But I like that flag cloak idea. When thinking about Deadfire I can't help but think of Polynesia and the Caribbean. Maybe a flail with a giant (and I mean giant) pearl on the end of it. Just a massive iridescent pearl that you use to smash in skulls with. Actually, a LOT of weapons had their origins as farming implements, and ninjas are supposed to be resourceful anyway. There is definetly a heavy polynesian influence with the Aumaua cultures and the archipelago itself sort of sounds like a mix of Carribean (with pirates thrown in), Indonesian archipelago, and various island chains in the Pacific. I don't think it's based on any one particular archipelago or region with lots of islands, though it does have the general 'conquest by foriegn trading companies' theme going which is like that of the Indonesian archipelago (mostly Dutch) and the Carribean (mostly Spanish).
  22. I suppose it's a memorial/tribute to some band or bandmember that he likes.
  23. It'll be ready when it's ready Note in the fig update 34 video, it says that it's pre-alpha footage, so, they aren't even in what they call the alpha stage yet. I probably wouldn't expect a firm release date until a couple months out, so December or January at the earliest most likely, since the tentative release (or at least the goal they're aiming for) is the first, maybe second, quarter of 2018.
  24. Why is it called a 'memorial flail'? Unless that's some sort of office joke since Darren Monahan is still working at Obsidian.
  25. Given that he definetly knows people are keeping track of the info as it comes out, it's extremely unlikely he made them up on the fly.
