Todd Howard, via Next Revolution: "I have a few hours in the middle of each day when I play the latest builds of everything. The rest of the time is meetings, some of which I love, some not-so-much. But it

Hmm Broad speculation puts F3 at the "first playable alpha" stage. If that's the case, it's still far from completion, especially if they plan to make the game as expansive as TES games.

Yeah, it's different. If you save the guy Adam the Clown is holding captive, he'll open a two-way shortcut from paradise plaza to wonderland plaza. You jump onto the women's bathroom counter and use an "invisible door" It only works if you save the dude, though. It's hella nifty for getting from the south/east end of the plaza to the north/west end. It really does cut back on travel time considerably, and you can bring people through it. I must have saved over 10 people that way.

In a nutshell, I beat the game by losing (in fact, there are several endings depending on how you play the game) I don't know how anyone would be able to win the first time around. You really have to save as many people as possible your first game, level up around 15, and then when you inevitably run out of time, you start the game again at level 15. Beat Adam the clown, get his chainsaws and the blade, hardware and survival books (the chainsaws last x33 times as long, and they respawn) and save the guy he was harrassing, and you'll get an invaluable inter-bathroom shortcut. The chainsaws will beat anything, if you're fast enough. Once you get the shortcut, you can manage to avoid the psychos in the truck altogether.

Todd Howard had said that the vast majority of Bethesda was working on F3, with some other people working on supplementary material for Oblivion, but I had always assumed that they meant things like the "expansion" content (frostcrag spire, etc.) you could download. I'd be very surprised if they managed to create a whole new map, or something of the like.

It is, but to absolutely fair, his executive decisions concerning the war haven't been exactly smart. Most of those track back, at least indirectly, to the influence of Donald Rumsfeld.

Obsidian devs at Asian Game Developers Summit 2006
Pop replied to funcroc's topic in Obsidian General
So... there will be a podcast? Because I'm certainly interested in hearing JE Sawyer's lecture. -
I am aware that this is generally a gaming forum, but this is also a "community", as some will say, and I personally believe that if we are truly a community, we will excercise our capacity to air concerns and anxieties with a willing and engaged listener. Thus, I have taken it upon myself (after much deliberation) to create this thread, so that we might come together as a community and support one another, in a spirit of fellowship. I may be a relative n00b, but still, maybe this place could benefit from a little bit of teh emo. Srsly. In essence, just come here and talk about what pissed you off recently, or how ****ed your day was, or what frustrates you. Could be something minor, like losing a few bucks or missing an appointment, or something pretty big, like the disintregation of a relationship, or losing a job. Maybe you stepped on a nail. Maybe you left your windows open during a rainstorm. Maybe that game that you were waiting so long for and wanted so bad, got axed by a blundering parent company, and your favorite developer house got demolished. Whatever, somebody can probably relate. Open up a bit, maybe people will weigh in a bit. That's ultimately what I'd hope to accomplish with this thread and its wordy introduction. Because if there's anything any forum needs, it's a touchy-feely, support group atmosphere Seriously, I'm going out on a limb here. This thing could sink or swim, it all depends on whether or not you guys are willing to share. ****ty things happen every day to everyone, and it probably helps one's disposition to talk about it with people, through the wondrous mask of the internets! If you've got something to say, say it. There should be plenty of room here for multiple accounts of woe. I suppose I'd better practice what I preach, so I'll start it off by saying that I'm 20 years old, and lately I can't seem to keep my affairs in order like a man of my age should ostensibly do. I'm missing appointments, I'm behind a week or two in college, and I haven't got a job. Today, I bombed an Ethics quiz. I'm getting pretty tired of living the life.

This is a difficult game, but it was always fun. Even when you realized that you're doing the same thing over and over again, you still want to play it. I was skeptical at first, but this game really exceeded my expectations. Capcom's got another legacy to cultivate.

Oh Man that was unbelievably gay. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Gay? He Man? The superhero with "fabulous secret powers", who goes around grasping magic wands and straddling rockets? The one with the sidekicks named "Ram Man" and "Fisto"? You don't say Some choice lines from the show: "I'd like to hear more about this hooded seed-man of yours!" "I feel the bony finger of Skeletor!" "Your assistance is required on Snake Mountain!" Speaking of He Man, if you like the Coen Brothers, you'll dig this. I also cultivated some good Youtubes: I put my pants on one leg at a time, just like the rest of you. Except when I put my pants on, I make gold records. TV edit of the Big Lebowski car-smashing scene. Listen for the change. My favourite Youtube ever. The greatest rock band in the world.

That was part of it. It was just blocky, you had to hold it like an open book instead of a controller (that is, your palms face more upward than downward), and the cord ran out of the bottom instead of the top. The Xbox controller is more a descendant of the original Sega controller, which was well-designed.

I did too. Micheal Moore still makes a mockery of his craft. " at least now he does. Roger & Me was certainly his best. I guess it's not really a "movie", per se, but I'm preparing to watch seasons 3-5 of the Shield. Not all tonight, of course, but in due time. Great show, can't wait for the next season.

Sure, back when nobody was educated or capable of travelling more than a few miles from their homes.

I don't think that F3 being isometric is out of the question, the Oblivion engine should be able to handle it (provided they made some concessions for the camera and such) A lot of people think that it's going to be The Elder Scrolls: The Road Warrior, and given the way Todd Howard talks and the way Bethesda has made games recently I suppose that's a way to look at it, but I don't see how it could be a foregone conclusion (it seems obvious to me that they'd treat Fallout differently than TES) and as I've mentioned several times in the past, Fallout is my Star Wars, and I have to hope. I really hope Bethesda retains the qualities that (I believe) made Fallout Fallout which were notably 1. A well-rounded classless system 2. A strong emphasis on consequences to PC action 3. Unusually competent writing and dialogue 4. Gallows humor and 5. 1950's "Science!". I have no doubt that they'll probably attempt the latter two, but the first three may be neglected. I don't consider the isometric perspective to be a integral part of Fallout. That's my tangent! As for Deus Ex and Fallout, I kind of see it, yes. Never played Lionheart (sort of want to) so I guess I shouldn't even be in this thread "

What should Kaftan, Mkreku and Checkpoin vote for?
Pop replied to Kaftan Barlast's topic in Way Off-Topic
I can't tell you guys who to vote for (hell, vote conservative) but I can tell you to be glad you don't live in America. Things are only getting worse here, politics-wise. -
The latter. It's either all editing or no editing. You have to understand, George Lucas is only doing this to appease those who can't seem to realize what a visionary he is. To edit them without changing them would be admitting that they were better as they were, before Lucas made them his through revision. "In response to overwhelming demand, Lucasfilm Ltd. and Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment will release attractively priced individual two-disc releases of Star Wars, The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi. Each release includes the 2004 digitally remastered version of the movie and, as bonus material, the theatrical edition of the film. That means you'll be able to enjoy Star Wars as it first appeared in 1977, Empire in 1980, and Jedi in 1983." So you'll get the revised, polished edition and the untouched original. Honestly though, I'm just going to hand him more cash for this. Maybe if I give him enough he won't butcher Indy 4.

"It totally destroys whole idea of Anakin bringing balance to Force" Heh, the thought of Hayden Christensen bringing balance to anything gives me a rash.

I never really "modded" Bloodlines, so to speak, except to replace the music when I could. "The New Khans" became the Santa Monica music and I put some Autechre in for Downtown LA, and they both worked without a hitch (the Autechre fit perfectly with the setting, too. I was proud of myself). However, you'd have to save your game before going anywhere, since a lot of .mp3s cause the club areas to crash, for some reason. Anybody know why that is? And for posterity I'm going to ask my original Bloodlines question again: Do the "History" options added in the latest community patch change the actual RP elements of the game, or do they merely affect stats?

How do you prefer your lightsaber?
Pop replied to Newbert_zero's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
I used dual sabers, so as to utilize as many rockin' crystals as I could. I pwned those kath hounds, I'll tell you. -
Seems to me like the "True Sith" were more nods to HP Lovecraft than anything. They are the Great Old Ones. Power beyond imagining, and they're just waiting outside known space for the stars to align... As for Sidius, I thought he was boring.

The "hobby shop" (ie geek mecca) in my town. I bought the used DC there + all the games they had for about $40. They included Nights, Sega Smash Pack I, Prince of Persia 3D, and Soul Caliber. I tracked down Crazy Taxi in Denver. I think somebody's been had, and it may have been me. *edit - Another thing, the DC controller is the 2nd most akwardly designed controller ever, behind that (Calico-vision?) 16-button joystick.

Hmm, I have a Dreamcast port. Believe me, a lot of my friends come over to play it and listen to that goddamned music over and over. Given the (relatively) large Dreamcast modding community out there, it's possible it's not "natural", but whoever bootlegged it did a damn fine job.
