You can say that again. I'm pissed that I can't find an adequate emulator on the net. I can find Master System emulators, but they just suck. I'll say this. I never played a Dreamcast game I actually liked. Nights: Blah, despite the fact that everybody seems content to wank over it. Crazy Taxi: Kind of entertaining, but the handling is botched, and you can't run over people. Prince of Persia 3D: Boring. Quake 3 was kind of good, but it's a port, so it doesn't count. Same with GTA2. It's telling that the Sega Smash packs are the only releases I liked. Streets of Rage 2! Altered Beast! w00t. *edit- bah, I forgot about Soul Caliber. That was good. So my previous statement was fallacious. Disregard!

Devil beats air. *Note- I'm trying to get a hang of this "attachment" system of yours. Ostensibly, you'd be able to link up the music you're listening to, or the things you're looking at?

Have you heard his music? They should keep him in there just for that. He had a blog a few years ago. Read the first post, then never came back. I don't know if it's still up (I would guess that it isn't). He wrote like a third-string tabloid writer. It was actually pretty creepy.

FOT:BOS is really its own game, and while it strays from canon and loses most of the Fallout humor, it's still an adequate game, and an interesting play. FO:BOS, however, you'll want to stay away from. I approached it with an open mind (ie before I knew it was so antagonized by the FO community) and man, it was terrible. Repetitive gameplay, bad design all around, incredibly bad story elements. It was a disaster. Absolutely no redeeming value at all.

Well, if you could kill a kid. I believe there's a mod for it out there, but according to Beth, the reason kids weren't included in the game seems to have more to do with clipping issues than anything else. Dunno if I believe it, but the original point is still a true one. Christ, you can break into somebody's house and even though they tell you to leave, if you initiate dialogue they'll act as if nothing's wrong. That's just sloppy.

The Road Warrior. It's practically Fallout canon It's certainly better than the original Mad Max and the third one, that's for sure.

"WHat are some games that have real consequences? I can't think of any at the moment." Fallouts. Kill a kid, get a stigma that follows you for the rest of the game. If you killed a kid in Oblivion, you'd pay a fine at the local thieves' guild.

Yeah, I got to that point. But I stupidly put only 1 dedicated fighter into my party at the beginning of the game, so I got my ass kicked. Bad times.

Well, yes. The fault in Oblivion really isn't in its non-linearity. Non-linearity can work to great effect, as long as you're willing to pick up some of the slack (case in point: Fallout, which I am a whore for) The fault is in the fact that it's just too safe. "You are the chosen one. Go forth and slay evil!" is not a way to move a game. The entire writing aspect of Oblivion isn't even fantasy-lite. Hell, at least D&D has some nuance to it.

Can't blame them for going out on a limb. No, no, that's not right, I can blame them. I will blame them. They've absolutely butchered Transformers, for chrissakes. Megatron is now an autobot (at least, he's not a a real decepticon) who's not evil, he's just "conflicted". **ckin Micheal Bay, man. I don't know why they don't just do us all a favor and change the name of the movie to "Transformers: Gundam Wing"

So people, has anybody played Fallout PnP in any capacity (as player or DM/GM/whatever?) What did you think? I've been trying to accrue tips for DMing Fallout, as far as keeping everything organized and tru to the setting goes. Anybody care to enlighten me with some?

It is slimming, and it's always fashionable. Tends to convey an air of authority, as well.

I didn't necessarily mean "transient" in that way. On other forums I've been to, the threads that didn't affect your post count were called "transient threads". So basically what I'm saying is that I'm going to stay at <50 posts for a good while, even though I camp out here. Unless I find something to talk about that's on topic. We'll have to see. As for old-timers staying away from KOTOR... yeah, that happens a lot generally, as well. The places I've been to, the established members tended to shy away from posting in the sections of the forum that are actually relevant (band sections on band sites, etc.) What I just said made no sense at all.

Oblivion is good for a dungeon crawl, but the actual RPG aspects of it tend to be... light. You're not actually a PC, you're a set of stats that... does things. I found myself worrying more about being able to carry loot than anything else. It's the price you pay for large-scale non-linearity. It's fun, it's just not the amazing RPG experience so many critics made it out to be. Games like KOTOR, despite being more rigid, exist on a higher plane of existence as games than Oblivion. That statement simply comes from my experience with RPG gaming. Who knows, some might find it to be the game they've been born for. It's not mine.

Considering how the bulk of my posts seem to be in this transient forum, I'll probably stay a n00b for a long, long, long time. But I'm also fairly new here. Hello all.

Anybody ever get to that point where you just really, really want to play a game, but you've played it so much that the game no longer holds any thrill value, despite how much you love it? It's like needing to sleep, but not being tired. I'm getting like that with BG2 And Fallout 2, much to my dismay. I need new cRPG blood. Right now I'm playing an emulator of Streets of Rage 2. Ahh, the memories. *edit - I really need to track down Duke Nukem 3D again.

"Was HL the first FPS to make heavy use of scripted sequences?" I think System Shock used scripted sequences, it's been awhile so I really can't say (I must have played that game 12 years ago) Half-Life was compared a lot it, which is pretty high praise. SS was an amazing game, really ahead of its time.

I'm a lazy jackass, so I'm just going to out and ask: Do the "History" options added in the latest community patch change the actual RP elements of the game, or do they merely affect stats? I haven't had the chance to play through with any of them. Like most RPGs I have, the first act (Santa Monica) has been played so often it's now like pulling teeth. Probably why I haven't been able to finish the game more than once (I'm also susceptible to RPer's remorse)

I'll bite. 1. What is your age? 20 years of age. 2. What is your favorite color? Blue. The darker the hue, the better. 3. List some interests. quasi-Van Buren PnP (I call it Mentor Johnson), Ethics, cRPGs, good old D&D every once in awhile. 4. What kind of music do you like? These days I'm finding myself drifting towards electronica, mostly listening to the well-arranged IDM kind. Aphex Twin, Autechre, Plaid, Boards of Canada, etc. Used to be into industrial rock, still go to an odd NIN or Ministry show (I highly recommend NIN live) and I still have a vested interest in industrial-noise, principally those bands which formed after the breakup of Throbbing Gristle (Coil, Chris & Cosey, Psychic TV, etc.) Dark ambience sometimes, quirky hip-hop often (check out Buck 65). Electropop in light quantities. Some people say I talk too much about my music. 5. What genre of movies do you like? Depends on my mood. Neo-noir piques my interest often, especially the sci-fi variety, but on the other hand I like off-the-wall Zucker-Abraham-Zucker comedy. I hold Spielberg in high regard. 6. What genre of video games do you like? I'm a big cRPG fan, obviously. Over time I find myself less and less interested with other kinds of games, particularly those with generally weak plot and character elements. I've completely lost faith in platformers. FPSers are okay for a cheap, quick thrill. 7. What quality do you most admire in a person? The ability to use logic and still be unafraid of change and error. 8. What quality do you least admire in a person? presumptuousness. 9. Do you think of yourself as a negative or posative person? Despite my basic trusts, I'm a tremendously negative person.

KotoR 3: Ideas, Suggestions, Discussion
Pop replied to LadyCrimson's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Uh, see, if one of the conclusions (merc 2 is coming out) is true, that aids the case that their other conclusion (kotor 3 is in development) is credible. -
