  1. I can't help it the real F3!
  2. I would die a happy man if Obsidian got ahold of Van Buren again.

I'm deprived of any cRPGs at the moment, so I'm left with the husk of Van Buren. I feel like I'm being taunted, because I'm fairly certain that I suck at DMing and I'm going to do a disservice to this material. I just can't seem to get anything right. I have all these great (?) ideas, but I can't implement them where or when I want! And how much of an idiot would I be to aspire to become a game designer?
  4. I don't see it working. Transformers is likely to get mangled at the cinema, and the series itself doesn't seem to be in the BIS/Obsidian style. It's also not clear if the NWN2 engine would be able to handle the outlandish models a Transformers game would require. Think of the vertices! IBL!
  5. One upside to a console as opposed to a computer is that you never have to worry about your system not being up to specs. It costs only slightly less to upgrade your computer to high Oblivion specs ($200 vid card, $100 more RAM, at least) than it would be to get a 360. The downsides, however, are pretty numerous. Controller issues, patching and extra content. Things like that.
  6. Has there ever been a "non-traditional" RPG released for Nintendo systems?
  7. I'm surprised no one's mentioned Burntfaceman yet. Or any of David Firth's other absurdist toons.
  8. Dead Rising, even with its faults (in particular, the patience-testing time and saving systems) was probably the best 360 game released thus far. All the other much-touted games to come out for the 360, PDZ and Oblivion, were terrible and interesting, respectively. Most people are willing to dismiss sports games, but Fight Night Round 3 on an HDTV was really something else (fun game, too) Still, after a year, you'd expect them to have more good games than this. Seems like a foregone conclusion to most that the PS3 and Wii will outperform the 360, but I think it's just more resentment towards Microsoft than anything. The 360 is by no means a bad system.
  9. B.O.M.B.-001! w00t!
  10. The main reason most people I know will buy a PS3 is MGS4, with Final Fantasy a distant second. I tell them that they are idiots, because those games just simply aren't enough to justify $600, especially when Blu-Ray hasn't become a well-established format yet. As for Nintendo, it has Mario and all of its spinoffs, Metroid, Zelda, and Capcom's stable, none of which I was ever a big fan of. The only reason I would consider a Wii is for Sega's stable.

It's a small country with a LOT of economic clout. Perhaps the quality of living has less to do with the government and more with the economic system they use. ANYWAY, I was hoping to have a little discourse about cultural relativism, maybe tie it to the war, but NO. Doesn't seem like anybody is willing to cross over to the dark side (normative relativism) anyway.

The question was being used to test the "quality of life" standard withteeth was using. But that's okay, u can ruin it.

But he also likes to play the victim, yes? The "I didn't ask for this war" line?
  14. Pop replied to WITHTEETH's topic in Way Off-Topic
Bush? Yeah. WITHTEETH: Let me throw this at you. Since Americans generally enjoy the highest standard of living on Earth, does it then follow that our culture is the best? Wouldn't it then follow that it is right for us to enforce our cultural standards and norms on others, so that they may reap the benefits? Would a totalitarian government that eliminates poverty and hunger be better than a free society with some poverty?
  15. If wikipedia cites something, why not just use the cited material? This is the problem that a lot of profs have with Wikipedia. You're not using a reference, you're using a reference of a reference. Most people won't even check the cited material. That's not even getting into the problem of peer review. "Otherwise it is way to easy to end up plagerizing." Plagiarizing who, exactly?

you're right, hades should just argue with someone, even if he agrees, because you think it is better to argue than to actually reach a common ground. taks <{POST_SNAPBACK}> You're not getting it. It wouldn't be a problem if it happened just once. Case in point. It's not anything that can be overcome, but it's a bad habit to have.
  17. It's a good resource if you want to figure out random internet crap, but as a resource for other things it's useless. I know a lot of professors that will outright fail a student if he/she tries to use wikipedia as a reference.
  18. Seems to be a pretty decent NWN mod. It's in the FR, so that's good. One thing I never really liked about the Premium modules were the undercooked settings. Now what's this I hear about BG2 mods?
  19. New community patch released today.
  20. I'll ask if Extraction Point has a refried J-horror plotline just like its predecessor! Gameplay was reasonably fun (could've done with some more enemy variety, which hopefully they've addressed in this one) but trying to get excited over a plot that plays like a retarded love child of Akira and The Ring is a bit much to ask

It's a good idea, but it will never happen. I prefer my politics to be practical, I got too much into impractical politics (ie libertarianism) in my late teens, only to get burned out during the election. I suppose I'd better just come out and say it: 6ftIR/Hades, you bow too easily. You're not arguing, and at times you run pretty close to using the relativistic fallacy. Frankly, this is hard to deal with.
  22. THE SHIELD! THE SHIELD! The first 3 seasons are kind of... draggy, somewhat. But the 4th and 5th season (featuring Glenn Close and Forest Whitaker, respectively) are really bold, and very tense. The 5th season finale was incredibly ballsy.
  23. I know this Canadian guy who I correspond with, and he sent me 4 mix CDs of various things, 2 of which have no tracklistings. But I know half of what I'm listening to. 13 & God - Perfect Speed Bonobo - Silver I Am X - President I'm also digging the new Beck. Definitely better than Guero, which was 90% polish, imho.
  24. As for the Hobbit deal, I had read that MGM has optioned the rights, and they are planning on using them. Whether or not it has anything to do with the LOTR trilogy is unclear, at least as of now.
  25. So... I've heard conflicting reports. Is Gothic good, okay or terrible?
