Oh, and everyone should make a trip to the Louvre once in their life. At least once. I don't even care that much about art, but good God, you can feel the history out of that place. It's really an experience.

So will you have to pay for it or will it be "free"? If anything, this is a heartening push towards BG2-style epic stories, which I couldn't support more.

I'd much rather we make a Hobbesian utopia. Why can't we just split the difference at Locke and build a family-oriented social contract? But really, I feel where you're coming from. I was in high school during the 2004 elections here in America, and I tried my damnedest to get people to agree on some noble cause that I had. The conservative state I live in easily threw in its lot with Bush, and my vote was all but invalidated (we have this "electoral college" that essentially chooses our President for us) and I became very cynical and lost faith in our democratic system. Being in college now, and not being sure what I want to do with my life, a lot of people have pushed me towards political science. But when I look at politics in America I see a soul-sucking oligarchy, and I don't want anything to do with it. These days if I vote at all it's because my parents are supporting an initiative and I want to support them. The argument that "I'm voting for the status quo" implies that a vote against the incumbent would make a difference. There's no point.

Hmmm, does anyone know of any PnP weapon modification/augmentation systems (KOTOR2 style) that would work in a modern / post-apoc setting?

Less from AvP than from Ringworld. God, does it steal from Ringworld. And Halo 2 was a derivative of just about every Jerry Bruckheimer production ever created. All it's missing is an Aerosmith song (I guess they settled on Incubus, which is just as well). I could not be less excited about all of this. Not that I was expecting the bloated Halo franchise to drag itself off to die with #3, but I was hoping.

In response to the first question, I believe you have to go to Jana Lorso at Czerka at a certain point in the TSF story (I can't remember exactly when ) when she'll be telling the criminals to skip town and head to the surface. Otherwise, I think they don't show up

Well, I guess the campaign's going pretty well. Gots some maps and such I drew up. Once I decide my skillz don't suck I might put up more. Right now I'm trying to adhere to VB as closely as possible (although I forgot the Grand Canyon on the world map, and added a few non-plot related "dungeon" locations, not unlike Mariposa in F2) Right now my PCs are entering Denver, and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up. It's got its own world map. basically I have a bunch of random (ie pre-generated by me) city blocks that divide the different important parts of the city, in which random encounters and scavenging takes place. I won't be surprised if I **** this all up, if I haven't already. Questions / suggestions?

Well, I don't know what to tell you then. :\ You might be boned on this one. Maybe you can patch the game to a different language?

What got me was that the guy kept talking about the revolutionary AI, but it really didn't show anything really revolutionary. I guess the protection thing the Big Daddies did was kind of new, but the splicers seemed to act like your average FPS baddies, with some unimpressive idle actions thrown in. Also, the enemies didn't recoil when hit. In fact, they didn't react at all. It makes combat look stupid. Or maybe you're not impressed because the world design is Fallout-y.

Obsidian's logo should have been a black fist. Like a cross between the symbol of Bane (since they love the FR so much lulz) and the black power fist. That would have been much more frightening. Truth!

That would make my... May. But I don't know if Lucasarts is that adventurous. But by that time I'll have NWN2, maybe Bioshock, maybe some hard info on F3 (*cross fingers*) and I'll be less antsy. If it doesn't happen, I won't be as crushed as I would be if they declared the series dead today.

Even if the site is of dubious cultural value, it's an adequate networking site. I've maintained contact with several high school friends through the site who I otherwise would have forgetten, because, you know, letter-writing is pretty dumb these days. Yes, I am a fanboi for a game that does not exist.

Just cuz' of that guy's nerdular voice. It looks like the game is focusing on people becoming inhuman in their pursuit of perfection, kind a eugenics angle. They could also milk the "there's no way out of this" claustrophobic feel. However, the psychotic composer deal was kind of a turn-off for me, coming off of a long time playing Dead Rising and dealing with an improbable psycho/non-psycho ratio. But I think it could work, story-wise. I'm getting the same vibes from this as I did from reading the Boulder Van Buren docs (since I have to tie everything I say and do to my Fallout PnP) There's a lot of potential there. And with the removal of narration and a full sound set / good score, they could really get a good atmosphere out of it. I give it a ++!
