  1. ... How would this work?
  2. Well, I guess the campaign's going pretty well. Gots some maps and such I drew up. Once I decide my skillz don't suck I might put up more. Right now I'm trying to adhere to VB as closely as possible (although I forgot the Grand Canyon on the world map, and added a few non-plot related "dungeon" locations, not unlike Mariposa in F2) Right now my PCs are entering Denver, and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up. It's got its own world map. basically I have a bunch of random (ie pre-generated by me) city blocks that divide the different important parts of the city, in which random encounters and scavenging takes place. I won't be surprised if I **** this all up, if I haven't already. Questions / suggestions?
  3. Well, I don't know what to tell you then. :\ You might be boned on this one. Maybe you can patch the game to a different language?
  4. What got me was that the guy kept talking about the revolutionary AI, but it really didn't show anything really revolutionary. I guess the protection thing the Big Daddies did was kind of new, but the splicers seemed to act like your average FPS baddies, with some unimpressive idle actions thrown in. Also, the enemies didn't recoil when hit. In fact, they didn't react at all. It makes combat look stupid. Or maybe you're not impressed because the world design is Fallout-y.
  5. Obsidian's logo should have been a black fist. Like a cross between the symbol of Bane (since they love the FR so much lulz) and the black power fist. That would have been much more frightening. Truth!
  6. You're talking about Knights of the Old Republic 2, or NWN2? Because if it's the latter, you've got some 'slpainin to do.
  7. That would make my... May. But I don't know if Lucasarts is that adventurous. But by that time I'll have NWN2, maybe Bioshock, maybe some hard info on F3 (*cross fingers*) and I'll be less antsy. If it doesn't happen, I won't be as crushed as I would be if they declared the series dead today.

Even if the site is of dubious cultural value, it's an adequate networking site. I've maintained contact with several high school friends through the site who I otherwise would have forgetten, because, you know, letter-writing is pretty dumb these days. Yes, I am a fanboi for a game that does not exist.
  9. Oh, what I wouldn't give for a romance with Bao. :'( <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Bao <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Yeah, yeah, that might seem like a good concept, but you've got to imagine his pillow talk. "I enjoyed that very much, general." You might as well be shacking up with Henry Kissinger.
  10. Just cuz' of that guy's nerdular voice. It looks like the game is focusing on people becoming inhuman in their pursuit of perfection, kind a eugenics angle. They could also milk the "there's no way out of this" claustrophobic feel. However, the psychotic composer deal was kind of a turn-off for me, coming off of a long time playing Dead Rising and dealing with an improbable psycho/non-psycho ratio. But I think it could work, story-wise. I'm getting the same vibes from this as I did from reading the Boulder Van Buren docs (since I have to tie everything I say and do to my Fallout PnP) There's a lot of potential there. And with the removal of narration and a full sound set / good score, they could really get a good atmosphere out of it. I give it a ++!
  11. KOTOR was, in fact, turn-based combat. If it was real-time combat, you'd throw a power attack when you pressed the button. But instead, you press it and then wait your turn. That's pretty ****ty real-time combat.
  12. Well, if you really hate the guy, he's probably going to give quests and such, he's not going to be a member of your party (I hope). Therefore, you could roll the dice on the plot and just off the thing, after you're done with it. That way everybody's happy.
  13. I'm ... confused.

    Best show on television.
  15. What are your vid specs? I have the same problem when I run NWN on my laptop, but my laptop isn't built to handle engines that complex (yeah, my laptop sucks).
  16. No problem, I don't own it, and I don't want to go through the hassle of properly stealing it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> And the problem with going out and buying it would be? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I have not the monies for such a venture (currently unemployed). If I had money, I'd be saving it to get more RAM or a better video card, such that I could run NWN2 better. I probably won't be running it very smoothly.
  17. I'd be happy with a game that has texted-out criticals again "Molerat is critically hit in the head for 211 points of damage. The sound it makes is not unlike a bag full of soup hitting concrete." I played a bit of NCR today, that part where the crazy guy blows himself up, and I realized how well they did the multiple-solution deal. You can a. talk him out of killing himself b. kill him c. let him explode and then fix the computer or d. let him explode and let the girl fix the computer. It seems to me like most RPGs are content to only let you do A and B, or in Oblivion's case, B.

  19. With the tremendous amount of Western Civilization I've been studying lately, I've decided to give Civ 3 another crack. It's not as satisfying as Civ 2 was so long ago, but it's not Call to Power (thank God) Go Persians!
  20. NSFW! Don't say I didn't warn you

THE TICK THE ****ING TICK I SAY You people don't know what you're missing. FREAKAZOID TOO btw, some of the guys who made the Tick are now working on the Venture Brothers, and the influence really shows. TVB being perhaps the best comedy on TV right now. I also loved the X-Men cartoon show and, to a lesser extent, Batman and Superman, and, to an even lesser extent than that, Spiderman. Batman Beyond was also pretty good, even though it came about rather late in my Saturday-morning-cartoon-watching life.
  22. "Wow... I didn't even realize that was Trent. He looks different these days. More... British, I guess, now that you mentioned it." It's the short hair. I'm kind of glad he cut it, it was kind of ridiculous with him getting all bulked up to have long hair. But his age shows more, now. I have had the fortune of coming across This site, which consists of a lot of game S/Ts in .mp3 format for download. It's got the Streets of Rage 2 soundtrack (which I'm listening to now, easily my favorite soundtrack ever) and the BG themes. I'm just floating through my gamer nostalgia......
  23. That's a bit of a stretch.
  24. "(and any other GC gems I missed)" lol!
