  1. See, Darque gets it. Stealing is wrong. So wrong. Especially when one is searching for a rare / out of print item. That only makes you want to look harder for legal means by which to acquire them.
  2. Eh, Gamespot uploaded some new screens a few days back. They look a bit more polished than before, and the Blade Golem looks pretty cool. Might have been around before and GS was just slow on the uptake

DE:IW is very lacking in comparison to the original. Some of the design ideas were pretty misguided (ie all weapons using the same ammo) The original Deus Ex is pretty ****in' excellent, though. Once you get past the blocky Quake 2 engine and the synth music (both of which I never really minded in the first place) you've got a lean sci-fi noir, and what's probably the best FPS/RPG ever made, after System Shock.
  4. Stealing is not an option.
  5. When was the last time an RTS really worked on a console? think about it.
  6. Heh, you can read all about the Van Buren campaign here. There were a lot of holes in the big picture, so I've been asking around to see who knows what's what.
  7. Thanks. I'm trying to do this as best I can. But it looks like I'll have to make my own system. Basically, the way it works is, the PCs woke up in an unfamiliar prison (very TES, amirite?) and they get sprung by a prison security breech that opened the doors for them. They escaped the prison (which is full of loonies...) and were apprehended by the NCR, who interoggated them lightly and given a mission to bring all the prisoners back to the prison because the ULYSSES computer at the Prison is a threat to the surrounding civilizations (here I'm not sure if I'm doing anything correctly) and can only be stopped once the its high-alert status (quarantine break, it would seem) is corrected. So they get an idea of where the other prisoners are, and go out to retrieve them. But as they go out into the Wasteland to find the other prisoners, they notice that they cannot sleep, except when drugged, and they are getting massive headaches and blisters on their eyes. These are all byproducts of CODEing, which is only lightly hinted at in VB. That's where I'm at right now. I'm trying to figure out how to make it more fallout-y.
  8. Are the criterion for PC submission clear? Do they have to be PCs from a NWN server, or am I just confused?
  9. I can smell the political hay. It's certainly necessary (the Dems need something to be riled up about, and they sure as hell aren't man enough to protect Habeus Corpus) but it had the definite whiff of spectacle about it, even if it wasn't scripted. T'ain't gonna win any House seats for them, though.
  10. Ministry - Hizbollah Feist - Mushaboom Cursive - Dorothy at Forty
  11. "Internet celebrities"? Is Maddox going to show up? That would really suck. I'll have to come up with some PCs. Probably won't get in, but it'll be fun to write.
  12. Born in San Francisco, raised just outside of Denver.
  13. I use Windowblinds for my XP templates. There are some pretty nifty ones out there.
  14. Oh, and everyone should make a trip to the Louvre once in their life. At least once. I don't even care that much about art, but good God, you can feel the history out of that place. It's really an experience.
  15. So will you have to pay for it or will it be "free"? If anything, this is a heartening push towards BG2-style epic stories, which I couldn't support more.
  16. I'd much rather we make a Hobbesian utopia. Why can't we just split the difference at Locke and build a family-oriented social contract? But really, I feel where you're coming from. I was in high school during the 2004 elections here in America, and I tried my damnedest to get people to agree on some noble cause that I had. The conservative state I live in easily threw in its lot with Bush, and my vote was all but invalidated (we have this "electoral college" that essentially chooses our President for us) and I became very cynical and lost faith in our democratic system. Being in college now, and not being sure what I want to do with my life, a lot of people have pushed me towards political science. But when I look at politics in America I see a soul-sucking oligarchy, and I don't want anything to do with it. These days if I vote at all it's because my parents are supporting an initiative and I want to support them. The argument that "I'm voting for the status quo" implies that a vote against the incumbent would make a difference. There's no point.
  17. Arthur Rackham's 1907 Alice in Wonderland I'm using that 'un for my PnP writing.
  18. Hmmm, does anyone know of any PnP weapon modification/augmentation systems (KOTOR2 style) that would work in a modern / post-apoc setting?
  19. Huzzah! Hopefully the fact that an actual studio is doing this will ensure very few cut corners. Hopefully.
  20. Less from AvP than from Ringworld. God, does it steal from Ringworld. And Halo 2 was a derivative of just about every Jerry Bruckheimer production ever created. All it's missing is an Aerosmith song (I guess they settled on Incubus, which is just as well). I could not be less excited about all of this. Not that I was expecting the bloated Halo franchise to drag itself off to die with #3, but I was hoping.
  21. Me four. I love the Red Alert FMVs, especially the Soviet ones.
  22. I'm all over it.
  23. In response to the first question, I believe you have to go to Jana Lorso at Czerka at a certain point in the TSF story (I can't remember exactly when ) when she'll be telling the criminals to skip town and head to the surface. Otherwise, I think they don't show up
