  1. I think the game would have already failed if that were the case. The premise sounded awesome when I first read about it, but if I was told I had to pay $25 for a 'mobile' game I and most people would have moved on to the next thing in a heart beat. For a game this high-concept and complicated F2P gives people a chance to engage at their comfort level. I was resistant to paying anything at first. Once I had tried it out I was very frustrated with the perceived difficulty (read learning curve). I quickly ended up paying for the full package, though, even after having already bought some of the content ala cart, because the game play convinced me over time. That chance to hook people isn't there without some form of trial, especially given what seems like a high price compared to most other mobile games.
  2. Good point. I think I was thinking of the basic tier cards, which I do see from chests, and opening chests is typically where I'm looking closer at card rarity. That all cards coming from a chest are uncommon or better is both good to know from a rarity point of view but also a good reason to buy more chests - you not only get to adjust the ratio of cards available in your vault but you also are not going to be filling up your vault with common cards by doing so. Added this to the wiki for future reference: http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Digital/Cards#Card_Rarity
  3. Actually, Uncommon = Bronze Rare = Blue What color would Common be if Uncommon is Bronze. The images at the top of the page look like shades of the same color to me
  4. I'd love a fan or press kit. There are a few screenshots and some artwork available but not a lot. That's one reason I chose the PathfinderWiki - it already has a hug amount of info on the other Pathfinder games.
  5. I can't find it now, but there was mention in a thread about whether there was a wiki for the game. I looked at several stubbed ones on various sites, but I've started a 'portal' page for the digital version of Pathfinder Adventures on the PathfinderWiki at http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Portal:PAD . I like that there is already a large set of info there about the table top game we can reference. I've added links to pages I expect might be added. I'm planning on reviewing a lot of the forum discussions I've found useful and consolidating the info on the wiki so it's easier to find. Please add to the content as well - I am hoping this can be a useful resource for all, especially for casual or new players of the game.
  6. I'm a bit on the fence about it. I like the idea of the daily challenges since it gives me a third way to play the same game (added to story and quest modes). However, I am a pretty casual player myself in that I am luck to complete two scenarios a day. Given that, I don't know if I'll every complete a daily challenge in time, but I do think they're a good idea. Making it easier to complete takes the challenge away for me. I'd vote to keep it as is.
  7. Yeah, at 4:37 PT in the Play store I see version 1.0.3.6.3 available. If I open the game I have no idea what version I have but I am getting the update messaging. Not sure how that was implemented, but it seems there is a design disconnect between the estimated availability date and the actual date. Maybe next time you could verify the update is available before blocking me from playing. Now I can't play the game I hate the online required design of PA. I don't know why it's necessary, but I love the game itself so much I can usually overlook the problem. Now I'm not allowed to do that. This is a bigger issue for me than most I've run into so far.
  8. I have Ezren in Quest mode use the Horsechopper +1 and Lead Blades spell. Kicks but and no weapon proficiency required. This would work well for Lini as well. I may have to try that...
  9. I've been holding on to 40 chests to doll out for opening as the new adventures become available. In the meantime I'm earning enough gold between playing and daily gold to buy a chest every day. Those I open. I'm not clear on what cards may be 'new' when the new adventures become available, which is why I'm taking this strategy. I do see cards from chests currently that are from decks 4 or 5 (can't remember if I've seen 6 yet). I figure that means there are some at that level already unlocked. However, to be safe, I'm planning on opening a bunch of chests with the release of the next adventure. Not extremely helpful, but it's my anecdotal experience and conservative strategy.
  10. I got an update but I don't see a version number in Settings. How can I see if I have the new patch?
  11. I know I play less than most on this board seem to - I can get a couple of hours a day if I'm lucky - but if you like a card-based RPG this is THE game! I played through story mode through the available content. Legendary difficulty is too much for me. I try it once in a while to change things up but I don't like it - mostly just me complaining about not being a good enough player I think. However, it's there and I do play it, and to get there I first have to complete the scenario in Hero(?) difficulty. Same with Quest mode - I love it's randomization and was even thinking for a while I liked it better than story mode (until I started playing Story mode again...). Same with the different characters - I have my personal favorites, but it can be fun to see how the others work and a challenge to figure out how to make characters you don't like as much work for you. That applies to both Quest and Story mode. Add all that together, and I think people can get bored of the same gameplay over and over but I don't see how you can have done everything this game already has to offer. And there's more to come! I'd suggest trying a different game and then coming back to PA. There are some good card-based board games or CCGs out there for Android at least. I did that as well and found it made me want to play PA even more. And, for the hundredth time, to the nay-sayers: there is NO bug free software. I've worked in software QA and development for 15 years, and I've never seen or heard of it. Add to that the incredibly complex platform Obsidian built and then added hundreds of cards of content to, and it's just unfair to complain. Some bugs are annoying, but even if I have to forfeit a scenario I've still gained a few gold and cards. So tired of reading smack from people. Obsidian rocks! If it wasn't for them I never would have been able to play PA, and I love this game.
  12. I have started playing Story mode with a new party again myself. In Quest I like switching things up a lot, but I often end up with the same set of characters in a scenario. So, since I seem to like those better than the original set I had play the Story with I went back to restart those as the new party. I am definitely seeing more gold and cards in Story mode now. It used to be the other way around until this last update. I still like Quest mode's variability, but Story is better for gold. The down side is farming in Story means playing Legendary difficulty, and as much as I love this game I'm not good enough to consistently win Legendary scenarios. That's probably why I just stick with the daily gold and have fun instead. On normal it takes me about the same number of scenarios to win the feats - I can close more often in Quest mode but it seems to take longer to rack up the XP needed to match the Story mode rewards. Given that, just for farming, Story mode grinding makes sense.
  13. One tip for gold, if you're on Android, is to use the Google survey app. You don't get much per survey, but it only takes a couple weeks to earn the $2 credit you need to buy the daily gold. By the time that ends you have plenty to buy it again. I'm on my third or fourth 30 days of gold now. Lets my buy a chest every day, between winning a couple of scenarios and picking up my 200gp daily.
  14. Worth noting that you get better cards faster in Story mode, but those don't affect the cards or characters in Quest mode. The only solution for your Quest mode characters is to play a lot. In general, I find Quest mode seems to do better for gold and Story mode faster for character development (i.e. feats). It could be my anecdotal evidence, but I find Quest mode on normal difficulty with 4 characters goes faster. You get more gold in Story for playing Legendary, but I must not be that good at the game because by the time I've won a Legendary Story scenario I can win a couple of normal Quest scenarios.
  15. For checks I usually find the mean of the dice I have laid out and roll if the mean is equal to or greater than the check. For important checks (like closing a location) I'll add another gratuitous die just to stack the odds in my favor. The odd thing is, working from the mean means that I should get that number or higher only 50% of the time. My anecdotal experience says that works more like 80% of the time. That defies an even distribution of die rolls. Anecdotal, I know, but it wins scenarios. Also - please don't 'fix' this if it isn't intentional
  16. I'm also happy enough the the progress on the current game and content that I'm thinking about the next adventure path to come. Is it too early for Obsidian to have asked that question? There are a few to choose from in the table to game: Skull & Shackles, Wrath of the Righteous and Mummy's Mask. There are also several other character decks to add as well. For what it's worth, my vote would be for character decks - because they might be easier to implement than new scenarios within adventures/adventure paths - and then iterate through the Wrath of the Righteous content.
  17. I was actually thinking the other day about a wiki for the game. There's a brief blurb about the digital version of the game on http://pathfinderwiki.com/wiki/Pathfinder_Adventure_Card_Game That seems to be the most complete wiki on PA itself I've found. Not much out there about the digital game, though. Seems like it would be handy to add digital info there since there is already so much general info, unless folks think there is so much different about the digital version that links to the tabletop info would be confusing.
  18. At this point I'm viewing the 'game' more as a platform and what I play are the story mode adventure path and Quest Mode one off scenario content. Given that, any platform will continue to improve over time. Yes, it's been a bit buggy but it is improving as a good rate and I don't see any reason to think that will change. Given that, I'm fine waiting for the next adventure in this path to be released. If I were playing the physical game I would not have played nearly as much or as often, so I'm happy to wait for more content a little longer. I still would like to make a new party similar to what I'm most often using in Quest Mode anyway, and my quest mode characters are all in the teens. Between those two things I still have much to look forward to with the game as is. I love the this platform - the best way I can play an RPG or card game at this point. Getting new content to play is icing on the cake - but better because I know it's on the way. I'm more thinking about what the next adventure path will be, to be honest, than I am any problems waiting for new Rise of the Runelords content or fixes. Love this game.
  19. My original group was Seoni, Valeros, Merisiel and Kyra. I took them through the story mode and was playing thorugh level 17 in Quest mode. I swapped in Lini at some point for Kyra and love it. Then I realized Permadeath is a bad thing. Lost Seoni. And Lini. Lots of crying. I restarted Quest mode with Amiri, Ezren, Merisiel and Lini to try something different. I think Valeros and Amiri are about equal in my book. I really miss Seoni's recharging spells, but Ezren with 9 spells now is convincing me I can live without it. Lini just rocks at everything. Tried Lem but find I like Lini a lot better. Don't know if the OP is still looking for that 4th, but I'd vote for Lini.
  20. I'm kind of tired of people complaining about the developers. First, they're not the only people working at Obsidian. Decisions get made and bugs found by a number of other roles as well. Second, I love this game. I don't mind the bugs and schedule slips because it's the gameplay I love. Even if you have taken a party through all the available story mode content on all three difficulties you can always take another party of different characters, and then yet another. I've been playing Quest Mode since I got to the end of the available story mode content and I'm loving it - maybe even more than story mode to be honest. I love pulling in different characters for a scenario, mixing up the group rather than having to start over just to try out a character. It's also fun to see characters growing at different rates, since I almost never have all characters of the same level in a quest mode scenario. That, and the boon collecting make for a very fun experience for an old AD&D geek. So what if I have to wait a little longer for the next adventure?! I'm still having a blast, and I just saw an update come down for my Android phone today, so clearly there is work being delivered here. Just calm down and be patient. $25 dollars (and I've spent much more than that) didn't buy you a fully unlocked game. It bought you a season pass. You'll get the new content when it's available. Enjoy what you have and the knowledge that more fun is on it's way.
  21. This happened on my tablet. I don't really play on my phone, but I have it installed to get my daily gold easier. The PFID on my phone (assuming it is the same) is 72D922DBFB588B8F Glad to hear it's just a UI thing. I don't keep close enough track of my vault/gallery to know if new cards were added, but I believe it.
  22. Last night my second '30 days of gold' ran out. I had 456 gold and 40 chests at the time. I have a few dollars of credit with Google so I signed up for a third round of daily gold (fyi, I use google's survey app which is enough to get $2.00 for daily gold every month ) . Now I had enough to buy another chest - 656 gold. I have been saving the 40 chests for future adventure decks/updates, so I was only going to open the one chest I had bought. I went to open it and it began spinning the light and moving like it does, but the chest never opened to reveal cards. After trying several times with short and long taps I found I also couldn't use any buttons on the screen like Back or the other store buttons. The game was running but not taking any input. I ended up closing the game and re-opening it. I went back and tried again. I ended up with the same behavior. After opening the game a third time and going to the store I noticed I now had 39 chests. The game had removed two chests from my count but not allowed me to open either chest. I was out the gold I spent on the chest, and lost that and a second one I already owned while being shorted 8 cards in my vault. I'll wait until the update comes to open another chest. If that doesn't fix the issue then I'll report back and ask for some kind of credit to my account.
  23. I'm very excited by the amount of potential content to come. Love this game and looking forward to it continuing to roll out for a long time much like Talisman DE has. I work in software QA, and have done Dev and Test work on an open source game. I've seen from the company's side why bugs were released and why schedules slip. This isn't the first time I've seen time to market prioritized over quality. It's encouraging to see that Obsidian sees the loyal, engaged audience for PA AND that they're seeing the negative effects of that prioritizing. Once they have enough success with the launch and early content I think they are more likely to feel able to slow down and do things 'right". They've been through enough content iterations to know how to do that better now so I don't really think things will be as difficult from the player side as they've been. From what I'm seing things are probably only going to improve. A small company can't afford to hide mistakes behind the business' inertia, and the people working on PA are very likely fans as well. I'm more than willing to be patient as the game and release cycles continue.
  24. "Her only support ability is the optional Aid spell." Not true. Maybe this is a higher deck level issue, but Lini is definitely a must-have character for me because she's an excellent support character. She has strength, dexterity and find trap spells that are available for support. She an always seem to cobble together a winning roll for me not matter what check I'm up against, and half of those additions are usually available as support for other characters too. I would up her support rating to 3/5
