  1. I tend to focus on collecting boons rather than trying to win the scenario. If I have to choose I'll go all in for a good spell or weapon rather than for enemies. It can take me a few tries to get through a scenario but I end up with better cards. After a scenario run, successful or not, I first dump extra cards from from characters to get to their limits and then go back through every character for every card type and and look to see if any of the 'available' cards are better than what is in the character's deck. I feel like it took me a while to learn that upgrading your character takes place primarily through grinding for new cards rather than winning scenarios.
  2. Ran across an article about the patch: http://www.pockettactics.com/news/next-pathfinder-adventures-patch-incoming-next-week-bringing-next-adventure-deck-with-it/ We're all waiting with baited breath. No need to be impatient though. Obsidian's done a good job of post-release support so far.
  3. I find i focus specifically on recharging over discarding to mitigte the fact that cards are hit points. I have a couple of parties so could try all the characters but my favorite has Seoni and Valeros because it's so easy to keep them alive recharging their attacks rather than discarding them
  4. I was hesitant too. I felt burned by one of the Borderlands season passes and I'd not seen a $25 mobile game bundle before. After seeing how quick Obsidin is to respond to bug fixes I felt a bit better. I've spent at least that much on add-ons for Talisman DE, so once I knew I liked this game as much as Talisman it seemed worth it.
  5. I recently bought the full bundle and started a new party. After completing the all but the last scenario in the first adventure I decided to switch characters. I completed the last scenario and only the 'old' characters got the adventure bouns. That new character did not have the adventure bonus ability points the others in the party now had. To get the adventure reward a character must complete all of the scenarios in the adenture. I could continue on as is, but that new character would always be handicapped compared to the other characters in the party. So, i had to decide to go forward with a weaker character or run run all of the scenarios again so the new character could get the bonuses as well and catch up. I chose the latter. It's something to consider when changing party members. I would think adding instances of a veteran from another party would probably work out fine. Starting a new character seems easier to do with a party of new characters.
  6. Very exciting to hear. For what it's worth, as excited as I am I'd be fine with the feature being lower priority for a while. I played another game (that I won't name) that took almost a year to get game syncing implemeted. Sounds like a long time, but that game is almost infinetly expandable in the same way PA is. I didn't mind waiting because I had new content to buy in the meantime. I wouldn't mind if Obsidian did the same - I'd be happy to buy new content for a while to help fund the game sync feature if that's what it takes. Just my two cents
  7. so, if I'm reading this right: best scenario for weapons is Thistetop Delve (1-5) best scenario for spells is Black Fang's Dungeon (0-3) or Foul Misgivings (2-3) best scenario for armor is Approach to Thistletop (1-4), Crow Bait (2-2) or Angel in the Tower (2-5) best scenario for items is Crow Bait (2-2) best scenario for allies is The Poison Pill (0-2) or Attack on Sandpoint (1-1) best scenario for blessings is Black Fang's Dungeon (0-3), The Cult Exposed (2-4) or Angel in the Tower (2-5) That's based on my 4 character party, but I think the trend is the same across party size. Based on those specific grinding matches, then, the best scenarios for grinding would be Black Fang's Dungeon (0-3) or Angel in the Tower (2-5) since both give high probability of two card types (spells/blessings and armor/blessings respectively). Armor isn't a huge draw for me, but spells are.
  8. I'm not a big fan of online games for this reason. Especially given that it is only intended to be played on tablets. My tablet is wifi only since I very rarely leave the house with it. If I wanted to, though, I basically couldn't. For what it's worth, I would REALLY love to see the full party and gold synced across devices, so I could pick up on my phone when away and have the better experience on my tablet when at home. The game seems to run fine on my S6 Active now, though it would be extremely small to see. That model worked for me with another online only mobile trading card game (whose name I won't mention). I know that's way way out there in the queue of possible features, but putting in my vote early I guess. At the least, being able to play offline would be a big step forward from my perspective. Not sure why the online design decision was made, but I do know things have to get prioritized to cut time to market, and the game we have now is awesome so not complaining (too loud, at least).
  9. Ah! don't know how I missed that. cost to buy the delta between what I have already bought and the bundle = 36250g gold cost = $5/4000g cost to buy the delta = 36250/4000g = 9 x $5 gold buy = $36 I think it was a labeling issue, but not a math issue.
  10. Did the math for future reference, in case others have the same question: bundle = all characters unlocked (5x1500g + 4x2000g ) + 6 adventures (750g +4000gx5) = 36250g for $25 36250g / 4000 per chest = 9.0625 chests @$4.99 each = $45.22 in gold purchases spent = 3750g = .9375 chests ~= $4.99 So, I would save ~$20, spent ~$5, so I'd still be $15 ahead AND get bundle-exclusive promo cards. Totally worth it.
  11. Don't feel rushed to get out the new adventures. This game has a LOT of potential. I'd rather see bug fixes and a well tested adventures than one quick bug fix release after another. The game is frustrating at first due to the learning curve, and the existing bugs have only added to that. I'd love to see the game get the 5 star reviews it deserves once it is running smoother than 3 or 4 star reviews for a buggy game with potential. Of course, I work in QA so I'm a little prejudiced....
  12. I played a quest this morning. All of my characters were level 1 with 0 XP. After completing the quest my characters all went up to level 3. I collected the rewards and quit the game to check my daily gold. When I went back to quest mode I did not have any characters with any experience. in the New filter I had the 4 characters I had started with: level 1 and 0 XP. The Experienced filter showed me two dupliclates of the 0XP characters from the new tab (Kyla1, Kyla2... etc.). So, now that I finally won a quest and gained cards and experience I lot that immediately.
  13. I wanted to dip my toe in the game at first, so I bought some gold instead of the full Rise of the Runelords pack. At this point I have 2 purchased characters and the Burnt Offerings adventure. If I were to buy the package special, since it includes those characters and the adventure I already purchased, would I get extra gold for the partial purchase or lost the gold spent on those (since they'd just be unlocked again)? I could just buy gold and unlock the next adventure, a new character and some chests, but if I can get partial credit I'd be tempted to get the full package at this point.
  14. How do you get to Legendary difficulty? I've just completed Burnt Offereings for the first time. Is there going to be a new option to select difficulty if I go back and replay the introductory and Burnt Offerings scenarios again? I'm thinking at this point all I can do with my current party is replay the adventures until The Skinsaw Murders is released.
  15. I don't work on the game, but I do work on software and have worked on a game in the past. There is no such thing as a simple feature/fix. They'd have to store gold transaction data offline, after logging in check to see if any such data exists and update the changes in gold in the account. That can lead to some messy use cases like multiple device support. That said, I don't like online only games in principle, so I'd vote to get this feature added to their backlog, but not with as high priority as their bug queue right now.
  16. Thanks for the quick response. It's unfortunate that the game got bad press about being released buggy. I work in QA myself, so I understand how that can happen. I hope there is equal press out there about the responsiveness of the company (how come only Devs are on here?!) and quick updates turnaround.
  17. Man, I thought I sounded cranky Brainwave, thanks for the encouragement. It does seem like it's the better boons in Burnt Offerings that are making the difference. I feel like I have got through a lot of the learning curve of the game, but the cards may make up for mistakes or something. I think the reason I get frustrated with the game is that I like it so much but fail more often than I win scenarios. Something to keep in mind for others in a similar situation is to focus on character deck additions rather than the character powers/skill points progression. That seemed to click for me last night. It makes replaying scenarios more fun - not worried about trying to win, just collect as many boons as possible to redistribute after the scenario is over.
  18. That certainly helps. Other than that, how would you be able to know what a character can do before buying them? You seem surprised I expected to be able to get that info in the store.
  19. Yeah, that's been really frustrating for me. I really enjoy the game play, and love that it is based on an existing game with a lot of existing expansion content to look forward to, but the game seems to be heavily stacked against the player. The only way to improve a character in story mode is to replay the same scenario over and over and over and over until you are able to get AND keep better cards in the character's deck. Even then you still have to depend on the luck of the dice. You get no reward for trying and failing. At least in Quest mode it sounds like you might get partial experience for failed missions - I haven't played it much because I don't want to start over with weak characters against even stronger banes than in story mode after having spent so much time repeating the same story scenarios over again. The ironic thing is, even if I wanted to pay to win I couldn't - buying 50 chests of items only adds cards I can potentially run into in replaying a scenario for the Nth time. Buying more adventures only adds content I can't get to or benefit from. In most RPGs I've played (table top and digital) you can keep trying and you get stronger each time until you end up finally strong enough to win the boss fight. It seems unnecessarily difficult in this game to do so, because 'getting stronger' means, for the most part, randomly running into new cards you randomly can get and randomly can keep. I don't necessarily blame Obsidian for this - I never played the table top game but it seems designed into the system that way. They seem to be doing their best to find and fix bugs. For what it's worth, my win average is around 1/5 scenarios. I think learning some of the subtleties of the game - like when to move a character or evade - has got me to this point. I think random nature of grinding for better loot means I shouldn't expect it to get any better.
  20. I did a quick search and didn't see this issue reported, so forgive me if it is already a known issue. In the Store, if I tap Characters tap a character to look at a character to I might want to buy, tap See More and go the the Powers tab I can see the list of the character's power icons. Tapping on a power does not bring up a description of the power. When I'm deciding what character to buy next I can't actually see what powers they have, only the names and icons for the powers. I can't find any other reference for the characters' powers other than going into the powers tab of a character I have already purchased in the party or gameplay screens. This is reproducing for me on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S and S6 Active.
  21. Money. Devs can't work without pay, and the business model seems to assume you should pay cash to get gold to do the things you want. It's a disincentive for me, though. I've bought every expansion and character for Talisman DE to date. I don't see any reason to do that with Pathfinder Adventures since it will take me at least a month to get through the first adventure expansion. I bought the daily gold and 400 extra gold, but that was only because I had a credit on Google to use.
  22. I'm having a heck of a time with it myself. I had made it to 2-2 when I was able to buy another character. Due to a bug at the time (I think), I had to start a new party to get the new character in my group. So, I had to start over. Took me 5 tries to get through the first Brigandoom scenario. So frustrating to have to start over. I do seem to run out of time much faster with 4 characters. The Rogue seems fairly weak. I might try removing her before moving forward, but I consistently run out of time no matter the number of characters I have in the party. This game seems just plain hard.
  23. Quests are working for me since the update - thanks Dev. The only use I see in playing Quest mode is getting gold. If you need to farm your story party better gear, which from what I can tell is ALL you can farm for in story mode, then Quest mode is useful in as much as you can farm for gold and use that to buy chests. Of course, Quest mode is harder to me than story mode and it takes me four or five attempts to get through a story scenario, so I don't foresee being able to use Quest mode gold farming very well.
  24. Given that you don't often get new boons, and you can't count on keeping any card you have, just relying on a character's deck for upgrades is a weak gain at best. I don't think you should get XP for uncompleted scenarios. But if you fail and didn't gain any useful new boons, where's the reward for having played?
