If you know the direction of your build and don't care about attribute checks for interactions, yes, it makes your build more effective in combat, but if you are interested in attribute check for interactions, and more versatility in combat (specially if you are new, and want to experiment) maybe you should avoid going too low About attribute checks in interactions:

That seems to be the biggest choice of all, Eothas probably ain't too happy that on top of being blown up and his followers killed some adventurer blew out his candle. Maybe what we saw on the Trailer just happen if you blew out his candle.

When they introduced the sidekicks on the campaign they said that were not final and would probably change. If she (and maybe Rekke??) will be a full companion at some point, it wouldn't be better if they are just added in the expansion and on the base game are replaced with other sidekicks? that would solve the weirdness of being "upgraded" and instead of replacing a sidekick to add a full companion there would be the sidekicks and the added full companion. I mean, i don't see a problem with this solution, please Mr. Obsidian, do this.

Character Creation / Level Up Hang and Lag
Piero replied to Twinkler's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
A few hours ago i enter the game, for some reason, just to see the menú and my save, long loading times, stop responding and on the charactercreation menú a similar problem, but not that bad, a delay of 1-2 seconds evrey time i clicked "next", an ability or switch an attribute value, considering the speed of menú navigation used to be really fast it was really annoying, just now i delete the saves i dont need, still slow loading times compared to when i play last year but got better, and about .5-1 seconds delay, wich is still a problem, but since has passed a few hours im not sure if the improvement its related to the saves, you could try if you have saves. -
POE 2 Suggestions
Piero replied to armyrangr25's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Every quest giving NPC in the game, that is hundreds of unique watercolor portraits, and those with painting portrait are going to have a watercolor version for scripted interactions. -
Watcher Wizard/Monk, maybe Wizard/Cipher, other classes that would be interested in are Kind Wayfarer Paladin and Wael Priest( i would ignore disposition tho) Since we didn't get Ydwin, seems like Tekēhu and Xoti are potential favorites for me Everyone with their base class/multiclass Pallegina Kind Wayfarer But is unlikely ill play it unless a mod to go with everyone gets released, it turns that this is just too important for me to enjoy the game :/ i couldn't avoid anyway to think about it as you can see.

I have no problem with choice that bring limitations if are sustained enough, one consequence of this would be that the player cant thing of ways to avoid it, if there is a way, the player should be able to do it and cross different paths on the same play-throw and not be limited just to generate the sensation of "meaningful choices", like feel that is what happen on Defiance Bay when choosing a faction, i wanted to send some companions that no one on the city knows so the faction doesn't know that i am working with their enemy, but there is not such mechanic on PoE, so they should avoid putting you in situation where you can thing on solutions that are impossible in the game, but not because the world don't allow you, but because limitations of the game. about removing the consequences of who you are and only focus on consequences for what you do, i thing it should focus, as it does, on what you do, but it wouldn't have sense that who you are doesn't have any reactivity, because it wouldn't have sense that anyone react different based on who you are. There is not substantial content for who you are anyway. About the player knowing the consequences of their acts, if what you have in mind is that simple as you put it, i don't agree, but there should be tracks about the possibles consequences of you actions, some more obvious and clear, some very hidden, ambiguous and tricky , but always some track i was surprised when after read the tittle didn't saw anything about the limitation of the companions per play-throw, that is the real problem to me, but i know it would require a lot of work .-. and its not happening, i don't have much time usually neither, so i hope i will be able to mod even if is just to interact with everyone when they are not in the party, if really ruins your game, hope you will be able to mod it to your preferences. Anyway, its pretty unlikely that your wishes become true, so i would recommend you to take your time to consider your actions and create a character whom you are satisfy with so you are not always thinking on other classes and background content, and explore.

About the sidekicks, i am worry about have characters that feels incomplete compared to a companion, dont directly cut them, but create the sensation that the character have less content just because that is how the character is, simple personalities and interests, with less conflict that dont generate much dialogues or reactivity. And directly put them off the relationship system neither, maybe they just care enough about one specific thing to influence on your relationship, and not necesarly all of them, but if you feel that the character you have created would need the relationship system, then maybe reduce other aspects to compensate the development, one sidekick may be not interested in almost anything but he/she care about your relationship, variety on the nature of content that each one have would help. Justify the reduced content, try dont mak e them feel less developed, but just less complicated characters.

The Black Island Bastad are a group of souls that were been relased from the cycle and attached to an object for an ancient object created by some engwithian, their existance has been dark with the time they got mad, but sometimes, they are actually lucid, they adapt the pirate identity because of one the craziest and funny members, that seeing pirates one day name themself the captain and everyone else his crew, with the time this help every one to get over their painfull existence and give them some happinest and fun, with their friends singing songs and laughting across their adventures, they protect the object that cursed them, so no one else have to live an existence like theirs, you can help them to free them form the object, one free they will continue their songs around the existence out of the cycle, if there is some. you can fight them but you cant send them to the cycle, so is impossible to beat them.

Easy-to-implement ideas

What about Saves Menu with more files visible, smaller representation of each save, and a more graphic differences between the nature of the save (auto, quick, manual) -
Easy-to-implement ideas
Piero replied to Piero's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
-Make every location available to travel, like Crucible Keep and houses so we can travel with less screen transitions, events, like the forge knights attack, would interrupt travels. -
I have saw a few requests that does not look too complicated (i may be wrong) to implement, so it may be a good idea to put them all together, so the devs can read them and discard them more easily maybe there are a few that actually a lot of people want. -Edit the diary and details of the progression of the missions. These are supposed to be write by the watcher, so it have sense. In one play-throw on PoE i choose to be a scientist, after read my diary start a new game with a different background because what i had in mind had nothing to do whit the scientific description of the game. and something similar happen with the progression of the missions, nothing that make me change my decisions, but not necessarily what i had in mind. And it would be nice to add some details and motivations. -Edit the name of the subclasses and multi-classes. There might be a better terminology for the concept the player have in mind -Name the pets. I name all my cats "Gato" Add you ideas/suggestions/requests. Or don't.

The more the most races and classes you can play with, and with the subclasses and multi-classes that s a lot to choose from. I play my main play-throw after studying a little the mechanics, so is not really a problem even to solo on max difficulty, but for more freedom i go with full party and then choose a few characters to combat, i like to role-play as myself and to complete as much content as i can, my play-throw end with so many hours, and i have no much time, the consequences that would need a game to make worth to replay it for me it would be tremendous and i end missing companions content, so my ideal would be no limit party so i can bring with me all the companions and then use 1-4 in combat as usually, i even look for a mod everywhere and wait to verify that is not happening before start my game, If we can mod Deadfire to allow this would be a dream. 5<6, so i prefer 6

There are a lot nice ideas that wouldnt work relly well (or maybe just would require a lot of work) for a companion that will be on our side for all the game, but may be be added as temporal companions, maybe they die, leave the party to continue their lives, leave the party to become later our enemies, maybe they where our enemies form the beginning, idk.

Content Stretch Goals
Piero replied to Mygaffer's topic in Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
Something i would really like is more ways to end a combat, dialogues in combat that allow you to decide would e amazing, some spells or abilities to pacify some beasts, maybe make people inconsious, or imprison if there will be something like the dungeons. -
Looks like your options are Barbarian, Fighter, Monk, Ranger and Rogue, any build is viable, and if you have the expansions you get companions of all the classes, without expansions you do not have Barbarian, Monk nor Rogue. The best advice i can think of right now is to try visualizing finish characters with the classes, backgrounds, races and attributes that fits you more, and reading the descriptions and concepts, you will sure reduce the final options and maybe find some character that like you enough to choose.

Increase the party size?
Piero replied to Piero's topic in Pillars of Eternity: Modding (Spoiler Warning!)
I know it is not possible in the base game. Maybe there is a mod or a way edit something manually, I would like to be able to enjoy all Interactions between companions and their reactions to situations and places, and it occurred to me to go with all the companions at the same time and now I really, really want to do it. -
Is there any way to increase the party size? i want to play with all the companions at the same time
