About The Min Specs...
Hassat Hunter replied to Saryn Regan's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Like everyone else said, you really need additional RAM. But RAM is *really* cheap these days, so just go out and buy a GIG (or 2). -
But that would be a VERY bad way to design a RPG, where difference and choices are inherrinent into the idea of playing a "role", so there should be some stuff you do not see until you play a different role. Even if the game follows the same path whatever actions you take (DX for example) the illusion of choice is simulated by alot of added NPC's and conversations you won't see/hear until you play it another way. Same with the Kotors, you have to play atleast 4 times to see everything (female/male, LS/DS). The Valve philosophy works fine for shooters, but would totally NOT fit into a RPG. And people do game for fun. But what's the fun in being able to spend an hour slaughtering pointless foes (KOTOR2 ending) when instead there could be much more difficult battles to overwin (IWD2 for example). The internal satisfaction is much greater when finally beating that one foe (Eat that Draconis!) than when you have just spend 40 hours of playing without any challenge at all. A "Challenging" game DOESN'T mean a hard to learn game. It means more challenging fights/events inside that game. Compare Sarevok, Irenicus and Melissan with Malak and Kreia for example. You probably know the game by the time you meet the final boss and in the BG's that meant a very though fight. In the KOTOR's it means damn nothing, they pose no challenge at all. Take shooters as example. Let's completely simplify it and say you only need to move and shoot ala Doom (no crouching, jumping etc.). It has no learning curve to speak off. But say yourself, what is more challenging in this enviroment? A dozen enemies all seperated and met one by one? Them charging you all as one? Or the dozen trying to attack you from all sides? But now it's like (RPG-)developers think that those dozen are too hard and they should be faced one by one, resulting in a too low difficulty in general. But most RPG's these days don't ask that? You don't need to learn how to play, you don't need no skill because the challenges provided do not ask for any such investment. What's the point of playing and learning a game when there is no event in that game that needs such knowledge? "You don't need to tactically save all your teammembers, they cannot die anyways as long one stays alive." Such a system wasn't present in Baldur's Gate. You had to use some skills to prevent losses unlike modern RPG's (new NW2 expansion excluded) where such losses don't mean a thing anyways, as they aren't really losses. What is the point of the reward of "more important activities", as playing this game is supposed to be entertainment, and thus not important other than to enjoy? And I certainly doubt people would be far LESS enjoyed when they watch the credits after 40 hours of exiciting gameplay, rather than 40 hours of boring easy gameplay. Quite the contrary. Satisfaction that you beat the game, defeated the foe, saved the world against all odds. That used to be just fine for RPG'ers of the old days, why should it be changed now?

Uhm, they are in the Saves folder (XP). You run Vista?

No great revelation. No great secret.
Hassat Hunter replied to Markus Ramikin's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
She was under the impression that the exile cut her/himself off from the force out of free will, but the Exile was forced by the destruction of Malachor V, and thus... had no other choice but to sever the link or die. -
Missed this Marcus? Also; I think the "resurfaced" HK-Factory bugs that are 're-opened' by new bugfixes are actually never fixed in the first place, but just the result of the HK-Factory having 3 VERY different branches with result in several different bugs in the end of it, and this not being taken fully into account most of the time. And because a tester tried something different (let's call it Y) which has a huge impact they suddenly found that it doesn't finish the same way like X did. And then there is still Z, which is totally screwed up. Let's take the 4 bugs you mentioned and put them on the painbench, and see how 3 totally identical events can be related to something different (namely X, Y and Z). Having them working properly with 1 of the 3 (previous experience) doesn't mean that they automatically worked with the other 2 paths. Only when the testers can guarantee me that it was working with X, Y AND Z before properly and no longer after a certain build would I be convinced it was broken 'again'. 0001072 Cutscene doesn't trigger when HK-51's are offline Event that triggers during X fails during Y and Z. 0000994 HK-47/HK-50 Interrogation scene does not load Doesn't related to the HK factory at all. Has to do with the Exile not properly making place for HK-47. 0000996 Exile replaces HK-47 in Droid Factory And Vice-Versa. I've had this happen with TSLCR too because a dialogue trigger was unintentionally overwritten by another file. Might be the same thing that happens to 994, btw... but we're steering off. 0000997 Cannot complete Droid Factory Doesn't mention wheter 'previous' and 'current' paths are either X, Y or Z. From what I can get out of it I think the first game the tester used X, and the issues now faced where because of taking path Z. Which doesn't mean path Z was ever made bugfree and so the issues are 're-appearing'. ANYWAYS, long explenation later... I am more concerned with Dashus closing 1056 The Military door sends you to 220TEL instead of 298TEL for being "Intentional Design". That wouldn't exactly be the kind of design I was expecting from TG (unless he means intentional until the HK-Factory end issues where resolved), but then it would probably still more suitable to use the 298TEL door as exit to 220TEL, but of course that's just my opinion....

very strange graphic issue :(
Hassat Hunter replied to dannyk's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Everything seems to be in order. However I see you didn't patch your game. Did you already tried with the patch (and is that just because of the re-install)? Also, tried to lower the texture detail by 1 (medium) and see if that has any effect? -

Specs would help. Run KOTOR2's "Scan Hardware", save the results in a *.txt and post that here. -
Problem on Nar Shaddaa
Hassat Hunter replied to Sith Lord Darth Plagueis's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Did you happen to sell T3? If so you cannot re-enter the EH until you have finished all of Nar Shaddaa (Talking/Killing Zez). -
Why would you skip convo's and cutscenes the first time you play a game? :S Anyways; http://knightsoftheoldrepublic.filefront.c...ction_Mod;81936

62/63 out of 65/66 are actually available, even if you alter the kotor2.ini to unlock "all" movies. In gameplay; only 59 can actually be seen.
-
Asfar as I can tell any attempt at making that a genre failed horribly.
-
Aye... Ironically that dreaded Inn-bug only appears when you import a DS2 save, a save (through the DS2 campaign) using BW doesn't have that risk... And yes, it does nerf all skills and certain item attributes (lower armor). Oddly enough they forgot to do that with the pets, making them far more viable than NPC teammates. Ah... bugs...

Since it doesn't have ingame AA and AF options, you have to turn them on with your videocardcontrolcenter. Most people don't though, which make the graphics look worse than they are. Even then, the AA doesn't show on screenshots. Do you use Broken World? Ah... no I am forced to post my own, no?

prestige class (again...)
Hassat Hunter replied to darth noris's topic in Star Wars: General Discussion
Yeah, it's either 25/75 or just X number of alignment change hits (wheter it be DS or LS), so you'll get her regardless, since you can't avoid that many alignment changes. -
Accents and languages in game VO
Hassat Hunter replied to J.E. Sawyer's topic in Computer and Console
The first. As mentioned any attempt to release something translated to Dutch usually gets heavy resistance from gamers. What are deemed "Children movies" (Animation, Harry Potter) are usually the only thing that get released here subbed and in the original version, and the original versions lasts lots longer in the cinema. For DVD's every language is included, so plenty of choice there. -

Well, as I already mentioned here in Holland we only have the english versions (localised versions won't sell, so producers don't even try. They usually sell UK-versions in the stores).
