For melee dual-wielders ( or 2 handed uses ) i like to go with Sanguine Plate gives the sturdiness you need and compensates for its high recovery penalty with built in frenzy .

Melee heavy party starts shining in WM i think where your ranged characters who have low defenses can get overrun easily , i found that going 3 Melee 3 Ranged is most optimal , 4 melees aint that bad either if one of them is rangers pet or uses reach weapons , more than that is always a mess for me .

Finally ! Very interesting build as usual , i was thinking about similar build just using Blunderbusses with QS combined with all the possible Missile scrolls , kinda strange and disappointing that SA does not work with scrolls but Death Blows does . will have to rush level 11 i guess , what about Backstab ? does it work with scrolls ?

vast majority of fights with immune to something enemies are very easy , or the immune enemies are small adds on dragon fights , only exception i found was reigniting the white forge fight where enemies are immune to fire damage , but then again poor forge guardians are vessels.... introduce them to redeemer and their gone .

Is a barbarian worth it?

You can also equip barbarian with : Binding Rope , Executioners Hood and get him Threatening Presence - this will make sure all enemies near you are debuffed greatly . You can then stack 3 sources of retaliate : 1 From armor Items , 1 From Shield ( and as we are not using Bashing shield Surras Supper Plate is the winner ) , 1 From Barbaric Retaliation , you can sweeten this by using Fire Shield potion . All this adds to incredible power of Unlabored Blade , then your barbarian is walking death machine . In my current playtrough i have no priest so sometimes i decide to not use Scroll against Charmed and Dominated against easy fights , if barbarian gets dominated my party dies in 2 seconds all of them just dead Only fights where this barbarian have some trouble are against dragons , but then again you can perfectly use him to tank all the Adds dragons have meanwhile rest of your party deals with the drake -
For Barbarian i would go some low recovery armor : Blaidh Golan - Can get it very early , best defensive light armor . Breakout , Preservation , 25% Recovery Wayfarers Hide - Can get pretty early in the game , is Superb and has small melee heal . 25% Recovery Rebels Call - You can get this from azzuro as soon as u open stronghold if you choose to , nice armor especially if your party has no priest. Major Spellbing Armor of Faith , Wary , 30% Recovery Vengiatta Rugia - late game stuff , my favorite armor for any melee dps , good thing is with all new content u can kill Adra Dragon and still have nice chunk of the game left to use your armor . Retaliate , Bonus Damage to Flanked 10% , Superb , 20% Recovery .

Forgemasters Gloves - item that you can buy in Defiance Bay after completing one quest for Crucible Knights , Gloves has a spell called Firebrand ( 3 Per Rest ) It summons a 2-handed sword made out of fire which does insane damage for the level you get it especially if boosted by Scion of Flame , Considering that with paladin you will end up taking scion of flame no matter what ( Sacred Immolation , Flames of Devotion are fire damage ) , this is by far best weapon for triumphant paladin early game Side benefit is that you can have Outworn Buckler with some one handed weapon and Durance Staff in your weapons slots . As firebrand takes gloves slot Also later in the game you will want to use either St Waidwen Redeemer vs Vessels or Abydons Hammer , so your weapon focus does not matter as both of those weapons are soulbound and will benefit from any focus , i would not pick weapon focus on paladin untill very late game anyway , FoD gives you +20 Accuracy , and you have priest for endless accuracy buffs , also paladins aura gives +6 Accuracy to eveyone in a party

Implements on wizard are always nice and can be very dangerous if you use Rod of Pale Shades or Golden Gaze with blast it gets nasty ( Noble , Dangerous Implement , Blast ) Durance will be able to pick Magran Priest talent so he gets bonus accuracy with Sword and Arquebus For KF paladin i would not rush to pick any focus early in the game , if you plan to use Firebrand from act 2 , get 2hander talent and Scion of Flame at lvl 4 and 6 ( strange mercy at lvl 2 ) , you can also use Durances Staff in act 1 which does fire damage if enemy has lower fire dr . Firebrand has Damaging 3 ( 45% ) and Annihilating (+50% Damage on Crits) , does fire damage so scion of flame will boost it by another 20% ( this applies to base damage of firebrand so anything that increases its damage after this will benefit from increased base damage this is what makes it so good ) , and 2-Handed style talent by 15% , you are looking at some serious damage with FoD and without it . I would not pick weapon focus early on barb and on chanter , you never know what weapon u end up using , also you have priest and paladin who give accuracy buffs from early game .

Haha , you are full of **** Your inability to play some class on potd doesnt mean its not good lol , barbarians hold their own on potd as good or sometimes even better as any other class Not even talking of your stupid mention of "Hard" which is a joke Well built barb probably can solo Hard with AI on and you afk . -

You guys talking like "rogue does not rely on its class ability" rogue is nothing without debuffs on target , furthermore rogues need a party to put those debuffs for them , if you build them to do max damage they ends up being squishy and rely on party even more , Rogue has much harder time being useful in melee than barbarian imo , also barbarian with Unlabored Blade outdamages everyone which has been mentioned couple of times by now thus rendering the original post useless , no rogue wont kill even one character faster when barbarian is unleashing firebugs with every hit , the only situation where rogue will do more damage is when there is only one enemy left and this means fight is already long over . In general rogues needs tuning way more than barbarians , having ability like carnage makes barbarians very decent class in a game where all fights are about killing horde of enemies before they killed you -
Swaddling sheet packs so much defense that no ammount of deflection can bring Sanguine Plate when durganized is 2% recovery 16+ DR +2 Survival +4 Might & Con armor , that can proc frenzy twice , yep not even barbarian can do that . Shod-in-Faith on well built melee will heal everyone to full for whole duration and not only those in melee range And so forth , use all 3 items on one character and you are op
