  2. The problem with the high ground is that the guy still rush you there. They like to hang out on the roof tops themselves. It worked really well for the warehouse district, as only a handful were on the rooftops. The prison was insane, with me killing at least 60%-70% of the guys on the rooftop (i.e. they were ON the rooftop). If it wasn't for Night Ops +UV Goggles, I doubt I would have stood a chance. I typically do try to get on the rooftop, as it usually seems darker (out of street lights), and you do get a bonus for attacking down (according to a FAQ I read anyways). Apparently there's a rooftop sniping feat (that we can't get with the questionnaire though) that provides additional bonuses for rooftop sniping.
  3. The Merc with phat equipment is less important definitely. The G41 provides a limited advantage, as the game doesn't scale the difficulty as much in terms of what your guys are fiighting. I'm not fighting with just pistols at the beginning. Though I could probably still do well without the drop all. Every battle with 20+ guys leaves mountains of weapons on the ground. The only real purpose of Bobby Ray's is to get special ammo and equipment (toolkits and stuff). A few guys I have fought have already had Spectra Vests and Spectra helmets.
  4. My tactics are to never leave a team undefended. I also am conservative with my Mercs, because I'd rather they didn't die. Being that I went for a high quality guy first didn't help either, as it left me with virtually no money at the beginning of the game, and I didn't feel like assaulting the SAM Site with a group of three. Even with Night Ops x2, I'd have too few people to stop the swarm of guys coming at me. The mod has seemed to have created a ton of guys though. When raiding the Alma prison, as well as the warehouse, had easily around 20 soldiers....maybe more. Also, when I captured the SAM Site I stuck around to recover from wounds, repair looted items, and train milita. It's a good thing I stuck around too, as that black ops team got there real quick and I had only been able to train one group of militia.

This is the "great" thing about statistics. Especially of goalies. The reason why Ray Emery has a much worse GAA and SV% than Hasek is because he had an 8 goal against game. Given he played a handful of games, it's not surprising he has inflated stats. Prior to his past couple of games, he had a GAA of 2.27 and a save percentage of .920. A couple of bad games, and suddenly he's not even in the same "stratosphere." Ray Emery had also set the record for the most consequtive wins by a goalie to start his career. You guys place waaaaaaay too emphasis on statistics. Watching the goalies play is so much more. I know that that is not possible (I have limited exposure to Lundqvist), but stats only tell so much...and often not very much. There's a reason why Luongo was picked for the Olympic team with lesser stats than Fernandez or Legace. There's also a reason why teams everywhere are interested in the prospect of Luongo being traded, and not so much a Manny Fernandez. Goalie stats are the most bizarre because a tiny bad stretch can make numbers look bigger, whereas a hot streak makes the numbers look way more impressive. Ty Conlin seemed like a solid goalie at the end of the previous season, because the team in front of him was playing absolutely on fire. And it's no surprise that Emery was able to go undefeated in his short career for so long playing on a powerful team like Ottawa. I mean, the Rangers should put in Chris Holt! He hasn't even been scored on!
  6. To be honest I didn't even read the link....I just saw "Disappearing Tanks" and though C&C.
  7. I'm pretty sure the winners simply make a cut, at which point the modules are reviewed by Kevin Barrett and Dave Gaider.
  8. I stop to train the militia to max capacity. Plus, my encounters in the mine level of Drassen, and especially the SAM Site, left me pretty battered so I needed to heal up. Alma was also tough as I almost lost a few mercs (Barry was "dying" at one point). I also couldn't do much on day 2 as I had like $800. So I'd have to walk there, in a wounded condition.
  9. It's not for the faint of heart.

If you want to compare backups, you shouldn't compare to Flordia's. Florida has won zero games with Luongo out of net. At least the Rangers are capable of actually winning with Weekes in net. Of all goalies in the league with a .910 save percentage or better, only three have records below .500 - Luongo, Roloson, and Huet. Luongo is the only #1 goalie out of those three. The other two are backups (well, Roloson is 1B I guess). He's also the only starting goalie with a goals against average less than three, that does not have a winning record. The only other starting goalies that have better than .900 save percentage with a losing record are on hideous teams: Fleury, Kolzig (just hit .900) and Denis. And when goalies start putting up GAA of 2.00 (in today's NHL), it's not just the goalie that is responsible.
  11. You're pretty generous with your scores. I've noticed interesting distributions of points handed out that are always quite heavily tilted towards 7-8 as the mean. No one feels good about handing out that 2 or 3. 1 is actually a lot easier. On a scale from 1-10, the most common values are 10, 9, 8, 7 and 1
  12. I figured Jedi Academy was ripe for an expansion, especially if they assumed Jaden was evil.
  13. There are some servers that get pretty good teamplay, even for public servers. They're not contest to an organized game though.
  14. It definitely helps with individuals. Orgrimmar was nicknamed Lagrimmar because it was so silly from our perspective. Latency times can be improved as well. I think it can "help" bandwidth in that one server only needs to talk to a lesser number of people, and you can prioritize where your server is for your realm. In terms of overall bandwidth, I'm not sure it would make as much of a difference though.
  15. Drop the melodrama please. No sense trying to act deep and introspective when everyone knows you're not.
  16. Based on what? They allowed a mod team to make a mod for BF1942 called Galactic Conquest with no qualms against it. The only request they had was that they did not use licensed music such as the John Williams' theme...probably because Lucasarts doesn't actually own the rights to it. They gave full permission to make a mod that the would see zero profit from. Furthermore, the mod still released updates after Battlefront was released, which could actually have been construed as a competitor. And that's making mods with other games with the SW name. As for Star Wars games that get modded...well, there's mods out of KOTOR, KOTOR2, the Jedi Knight/Dark Forces games, Star Wars; Rebellion (!), and pretty much every other game they've ever released. The only issue I've ever seen Lucasarts have with mod teams is the mods using licensed music. They have certainly been doing a piss poor job of hitting modders, if that's what they've been trying to do. I think you're confusing Lucasarts for Fox Interactive. Though even Fox Interactive has no problems with people making mods with THEIR games. It's when people use someone else's game with their IP that they get upset. This clearly is not the case with the Restoration Project. Blizzard also shutdown a Starcraft mod for C&C: Generals because they are still supporting the game. They probably also stand to lose money from advertising revenues on Battle.net, as well as provide additional revenue to competing companies as it would provide incentive for people to buy the other product. The Restoration Project is not a perfect target. Unless you can somehow demonstrate that Lucasarts stands to lose from someone making a mod for their game, it's a poor target. They certainly won't lose financially, which is often the biggest concern. Unless your advertising experience can show me some sort of precedent set in a different case, I think you are blowing things infinitely out of proportion.
  17. I believe there was a famous Volo is a woman thread.
  18. Though the situation you described isn't necessarily "adaptive" AI though. When I think "adaptive" I typically think "learning" AI. Getting a squad to have soldiers assess an appropriate course of action in terms of pinning you down and flanking you is probably less difficult. Though it'd still need to analyze the situation to determine appropriate actions. It would still need to have those actions decided. A good AI is pretty computationally expensive. I suspect we'll be waiting until we have AI expansion cards (or multicore processors where a developer uses a core specifically for AI) before we see any significant changes. The one bad thing about online gaming is finding people to play with, and then finding times to play with them. I'm not a big fan of playing with random people anymore, as they tend to be annoying twits. I'd rather play against a stupid AI.
  19. Muahahaha. Next on the recruiting block is definitely Shadow. His perma-Camo and Stealth Abilities are very useful for my sniper with scope and laser sight. I'll have him spot for me as I pick them off. He's also skilled enough to interrupt if need be. My merc just hit level 4, and is about +22 in Marksmanship (at 70ish now), so he's getting pretty good at picking people off with his rifle.
  20. Ok, I'll make sure to keep my XFire on while at home and not busy.
  21. True. An adapting AI isn't particularly easy though. To be honest I can't think of a game that has really done it effectively.
  22. Heh, no contest if you compare MP.

IMO Hasek and Lundqvist both have much better teams in front of them. It's a lot easier to put up better stats if your team can score and play defense. Hasek hasn't really played for a poor defensive team that on any given night can give up 40 shots against. Having a successful team in front of them puts less pressures on the goalies to perform as well.
  24. I never had a problem with the exile ignoring my commands, nor with dying. My machine would crawl, but it didn't matter as i didn't need good FPS to hit '2' on my keyboard.
  25. I think the only reason why it took you so long to get the later techs in Civ 3 is because in the later parts of the game, each turn took so much longer. To be honest it sounds like you're playing against the AI at a less than intense difficulty level. I think Civ 4 is much better than Civ 3.
