  1. I looked back at your posts and I didn't see where you specified which type of system you were going to run WoW on? I wouldn't run it on anything less than a 2ghz system with 1gb RAM and a nvidia 6600 video card otherwise it's gonna be choppy and not enjoyable even with all the settings set to min.. Going through Ironforge alone would lock your PC up if your system couldn't handle it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Nothing like a little hyperbole to start the day off. And places like Ironforge are less annoying now, because it's not the only place with an auction house. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Ok. Ironforge is still a problem even with the auction houses in Darnassus and Stormwind. I'm not saying the game won't run unless you have those specs just don't expect anything above 25 fps and about 10 in Ironforge. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I still disagree. While my roommate does have a 2 GHz P4, he only has 512 MB of RAM and an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro. If he turns down details, it still runs pretty good. The biggest thing about the Ironforge areas though is RAM, as a friend of ours has the exact same computer, but 1 GB of RAM and gets much better performance in the high popluation areas. I can play the game at very high details, though I do have an Athlon64 3500+ (2.2 GHz I think) and 1 GB of RAM. I only have a Radeon 9800 Pro though. I don't think the game is too demanding video wise.
  2. Isn't SOE (Sony Online Entertainment) the developer (and publisher) of Everquest? According to IGN they are. So they are both the producer and the developer. Regardless, only EQ has that many expansions.
  3. One-hit-kill is probably a bit too overkill. I like "realism" not realism if you know what I mean. I wish there was a way to limit Bobby Ray's selection, as I think it'd be neat to have to survive mostly on the loot. I had the "drop all" though because I think it is silly in games when I kill a guy with a particular weapon that I think might be useful...but he doesn't drop it. As for my game, I'm going to restart it. The airstrikes are a bit too much, and I think it takes away from the tactical aspect of the game. It seems every fight has me taking cover (i.e. running like a madman) to avoid the airstrike. And they come in too fast and too regularly. I don't think they'd be able to airstrike me within the first 5 minutes of combat every time. They must have an amazing airforce. I do like that I don't need to go through the QA to get my skills though, and can just pick them when talking to IMP. I've played the game already so that's a bit less important. I did resist my urge to pick the camoflage trait though

  5. Meh, it wasn't that bad if it just stayed with $10,- each months, but now you ALSO have to buy expension packs every 3 months or so, and small "Boosterpacks". They even wan't to bring this Boosterpack-bull to other games not MMO, like BF2. We are all doomed <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wow has been out for over a year now, and the talk of expansion is still probably a year away. Furthermore, you can continue to play the game without the expansion anyways.
  6. Eh, No... It was a space sim like Elite and such... Where is the cross-genre stuff? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> There were some RPG and adventure elements. Upgrading your ship with money accumulated with missions accessible with xp gains through combat and mission/quest solving; exploration and loot hunting, NPC conversations, influence with factions, etc. The only thing that bothered me about Freelancer is that I couldn't walk around as I wanted. Plus the learning curve for me was steep at one point. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> The "RPG elements" you describe have been in space games long before they were in Freelancer. Freelancer is pretty much a very nice looking Privateer. I certainly wouldn't say it's "cross-genred" lest we start tossing the term around a bit too liberally.
  7. I did find a sound detector and a sweet SMG at the beginning. I actually like the "drop all" because I was looking for intense realism. I wasn't able to put my guy's stats all to 100 though, unless I used the external IMP utility. But I could probably find one to do that in basic anyways.
  8. I wanted to spice things up. I've already seen a new weapon (The silenced MP-5SD3)
  9. http://games.softpedia.com/get/Mods-Addons...nce-2-Mod.shtml I think people have been making unofficial patches. They've included Mercs and weapons from Unfinished Business (which I never did get to play unfortunately), and also airstrikes. Air strikes = scary! I'm thinking about restarting. I've only done 3 fights, but 2 have had airstrikes and they blow you around pretty good if you're in the blast. I've only been in one, so we'll see.
  10. In other news, I'm playing with Airstrikes on (don't remember that option before...it might be part of the mod) and wowee are they nuts. We got hit with one just outside Drassen Airport. Hopefully they'll be less frequent now that we've taken one of the airports. In any case, it's 1300 hours and we just secured drassen airport. Shouldn't be too long to secure the rest of the town. Gus is pretty sweet at this stage of the game...fighting guys with pistols.
  11. I couldn't remember, but it makes sense that a high wisdom will help me learn other skills faster. In any case, we've touched down in Arulco, and met with minimal resistance. I was able to procure an MP5SD3. It's integral silencer should come in handy for someone stealthy like myself. I was also able to snag myself some sun glasses, to compliment my nightvision goggles at night. Interestingly enough, we got off to a shaky start with Gus himself clipping Barry with a shot. Grizzly also took a glancing blow as he was ambushed inside of a house. He and I made short work of that guy. All in all though, it's been the Gus Tarball's show. Hopefully we can get to Drassen Airport before the end of the day is out.
  12. The team on the Outset: Gus (for a day), with Barry Unger, Grizzly (I was mistaking Steroids for Grizzly...I like Grizzly), MD, and myself. For myself, I'm not the most talented, and I'll admit...my aim is mediocre, but I am a bit of a leader. Not the strongest, but I'm super smart, with decent agility and dexterity. As for bombs and locked doors...keep me away. At least I know what a scalpel is (though not sure what to do with it....). Night Ops/Stealth for tons of fun. I'll keep you all updated on my progress.
  13. Ok, it's settled, Night Ops/Stealth. Codename: Slasher
  14. Hmmm...instakills with knives if you are sneaky. Maybe I'll go Night Ops/Stealth
  15. Well, since I said I'd take your suggestion, I'll see if Gus is available.
  16. Some of that is lost in translation "...."
  17. I'd recommend giving the trial a go then.
  18. I remember Steroids. I used him quite a bit IIRC. I like him, Ivan, and Shadow in particular. Well, that I can remember anyways. In any case, where's that faq at GameFaqs. It didn't seem to mention anything about IMP selections.
  19. Heh, I always went with the lowbies. I never really had a problem clearing the town either. We'll see Oh, I'm also going to try the 1.13 mod, which is supposed to make things more difficult, as well as unlock tons of weapons and other stuff like that.
  20. If you played Torment first, then yeah...probably. I (and probably many other people) played Torment long after both Baldur's Gate games. Especially compared to the first game, the character interaction was way more than anything anyone else had ever really experienced before. And IMO, the timed conversations weren't the bad thing. The bad thing was that certain areas were labelled as appropriate for the conversations, but were often at the tail end of the inappropriate areas (like the dragon's lairs). Someone somewhere was sloppy when they said where it was and was not OK to initiate the conversations. For instance, the timed conversations would not happen in a dungeon. But the timed trigger would still get flagged, and the second you step out of the dungeon it would finally start off. This actually works not too bad, as it keeps the conversations during poor times (like questing through a dungeon) from happening. And I could see many of the conversations happening upon exit of a dangerous situation. The main problem was that places like the dragon's lairs (all of them too) were categorized as being places OK to talk. So you'd get someone talking about how much they care about you (or whatever) right before you meet Firkraag. But Baldur's Gate 2 and Torment are two different beasts with different aspirations.
  21. DING DING DING!!!! :D (w00t) I love you Darque! Finally, someone understands! I have been harping on this point for years! <{POST_SNAPBACK}> At the same time, many people like their characters to be unique. I can see the merit in Gromnir's stance that focusing on the antagonist could create for better stories.
  22. Sooooooo, I have decided to reload this old classic. Now is the time to suggest how to play through it Though, does anyone know what traits my character can get through the IMP interrogation? I'd rather not trial and error each permutation and see what I come up with
  23. Why don't people like Kreia?
