The strategy that I have is now not to go and get scale breaker... but whilst the dragon is still not an enemy, sneak behind it to the adragons and kill them. Stay as far west as possible and send a fast guy with a ranged weapon to draw out the Xaurips guarding the treasure. Whilst this is happening I spread out my team in a cresent near the west side... as the Xaurips have been attacked the dragon appears at this point and I cast 3 or 4 summons to attack him whilst my team hit form range... let the summons take the breath weapon and possibly a few of the dragons side too (best to use the crappiest summons first as they will all die anyway when the dragon breathes on them). Of course I use a couple of people to attack the Xaurips (take out the priests as quick as possible) and hit the dragon with paralysis spells and maelstom spells. Create new summons as the first wave fall and send my fighters/barbarians/paladins etc to help them whilst the wizards, druids and priest hit him with ranged spells. I find it useful to cast protections on the summons too like freedom of movement. I think hold beasts or monsters or whatever works on him too (druid spell). Resist fear scroll is also useful but there is also a WM ability for fighters I think that makes them immune to fear. This tatcic works for me, I have done it twice like that. Of course you miss out on scale breaker but I get killed if I leave and then come back. There are videos of it on YT but the only way people seem to do it is buy eating 20 meals and stuff... which is stupid. To be frank, if it takes that to kill it, it is overpowered. The other dragons are easy compared to it... but their is an alpine dragon that is even harder as you can't take out his helpers first. I still haven't beaten that yet. Good luck!

Intel HD 530

I have the infinitybook now and can play PoE in full HD without the fan even coming on, this only happens when leveling up... and even then I can barely hear it. Once I get to some larger battles with more on screen I shall update this post, or even make a youtube film demonstraing what it looks like, but as someone who isn't a gamer, the game runs fine on it! -
Intel HD 530
ArnoldRimmer replied to ArnoldRimmer's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Oh therefore 13,3" is the best size. And with full HD its perfect. Sadly Sony has stopped producing new highend Notebooks in this size (z-Series), and i am not aware of current dual grafic laptops in this size. Do you have experience using a laptop that size at full hd? Is it usable or do you have to lower the resolution? That is the only thing I'm worried about -
Intel HD 530
ArnoldRimmer replied to ArnoldRimmer's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Doubt that you will be able to get a pleasant experience. Here are some stats for comparison: HD 520 - Mafia II (fullHD) - 16 fps average HD 530 - Mafia II (fullHD) - 20.5 fps average ATI Radeon HD 4850 - Mafia II (fullHD) - 29.5 fps average - and this card is listed in PoE minimum requirements. Tbh, aside from weight and battery life, those tuxedo options are quite pricey, provided that they come with integrated graphics... You might want to check: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0146DD02G/ref=psdc_565108_t1_B015PYYDMQ (the one with win 8.1 as it's upgrade is free anyway) http://www.gaminglaptopsjunky.com/gaming-laptops-under-1000/#ultraportablegaminglaptops Yeah but I'm not just going by price. They are made in germany first so by buying them I'm helping the german economy, second they are made for linux. Everything will work, they set up trim on ssds - I don't have to worry about anything. I'm also supporting the production of linux hardware and I currently have a laptop from amazon. It's fine if you want windows or don't mind the hardware breaking a week after the warrenty runs out. Tuxedo build the laptops with everything accessible, just remove the back plate and you have access to everything - memory, drives, fans (to clean them when they are blocked with dust), with my current acer I had to completely disassemble it to clean the fans - this is by design so you just buy a new one because "it's become hot and slow". Also at tuxedo I can customise the build which I can't do at amazon. I know I could probably get something similar for less money at amazon but I don't like supporting amazon much and have been burned before with a laptop from the big names. I thiink maybe I'll go for the bigger laptop with hd 530 and try my luck. I can always use my current one, if it is really bad to play games on, and even put windows back on it. Still it would be nice to see if anyone has any experience. I mean look at this: Youtube video of some one playing a 3D shooter on a HD 520 I would be happy with that kind of game play. It seems fine to me and there seems to be more 3d there than in PoE. Also if I went for the laptop with 530 it would probably be even better. So if any of you watch that video, is that what you would call bad? If so why? It seems pretty good to me. -

The computer I'm buying will have 16GB ram, SSD, intel 520 hd graphics card and an Intel Core i7-6500U (2x 2.5-3.1GHz Dual-Core, 4 Threads, 4MB Cache, 7,5-15W TDP) http://www.tuxedocomputers.com/Linux-Hardware/Linux-Notebooks/10-14-Zoll/TUXEDO-InfinityBook-13-3-matt-Full-HD-IPS-Aluminiumgehaeuse-Intel-Core-i7-Energiespar-CPU-zwei-HDD/SSD-bis-16GB-RAM-bis-15h-Akku-Slim-Book.geek Or I will get a slightly larger 15" with the same specs but an intel hd 530 and a Intel Core i7-6700HQ (4x 2.6-3.5GHz Quad-Core, 8 Threads, 6MB Cache, 35-45W TDP) http://www.tuxedocomputers.com/Linux-Hardware/Linux-Notebooks/15-6-Zoll/TUXEDO-Book-BC1505-15-6-matt-Full-HD-IPS-Intel-HD-Grafik-bis-drei-HDD-o.-SSD-bis-Intel-Core-i7-Quad-Core-bis-32GB-RAM-DVD-o.-Blu-Ray-Brenner.geek My current 17" laptop has a nvidia card that I barely use for anything - I don't edit 4K video, create 3D graphics or edit tonnes of RAW images. I want something now that is portable, smaller and with great battery life. Most of the time I'm not gaming, just developing or using the web. I just would like occassionaly to be able to play PoE still if possible or BG2 (EE) on steam. So I really want to know if it will be totaly unplayable, or just unplayable for a hardcore gamer who is used to using a self-built tower full of the best components. I have seen quite a few youtube videos of gaming with a 530 and they look fine to me - even 3d games - although some comentators say it looks terrible, but these seem to be the hard core gamers. I don't expect the highest graphics setting or anything and don't mind reducing in game resolution - although I would prefer to keep full hd. -

Is an integrated graphics card (Intel HD 530) enough to play PoE? Or is a nvidia card needed (this is for a laptop). Thanks. -
npcs and parties
ArnoldRimmer posted a question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Is there any chance that you could make an option to have all the available npcs show up in the inn at guilded vale? By the time I get to the white march my party is so well developed that I really don't want to change it. -
Strange crown of lavender
ArnoldRimmer replied to ArnoldRimmer's question in Pillars of Eternity: Technical Support (Spoiler Warning!)
Ok Thanks. I started using it on my fighter, the other fighter has some kind of item that lets him cast sicken so it's quite useful when they are fighting together with the other 4 hanging back using ranged weapons... I think though the description should explain it better, at first I thought it was some kind of cursed item or something it didn't make any sense. -
One of the PCs I assigned to a quest came back with a crown of lavender... it gives you an ability, immunity to something or other and then there is an additional text that just says irritating. It apparently causes the same damage to me that I'm immune to whilst using the device. I have no idea what an irritating head piece does as I still haven't seen any damage done to myself whilst using it. Is the description wrong??? I'm at work now so I can't post the real description until tonight.

I left my team outside his room... put down a few traps inside the door and out... send a fast dude in to draw him out. A soon as they came near the door I use my summon statues and figures and pound him with range weapons while the summons keep his mob at bay... then drop pillars of fire, force walls, fire walls etc on the other side of the door where the bottle kneck is... mutiple paralysis scrolls, greater malison, lightning storms, blizzards etc. Once they get close enough that my fighters have to draw swords there were only few left and concealhaut. Then cast my summon spells. Then something bad happened some kind of spell or effect and half my party died. There was only me - a wizard -, a fighter and paladin left. I got them to concentrate on his last help and then we all attacked him... wierd things was he didn't do anything after a while he just stood there after all his side was dead not casting any spells. I think it was such a long fight that he had used all his spells and couldn't hit my paladin or fighter... he really did just seem to stand there doing nothing. It was tough and we all had to eat a few things before kicking everything off. But this was right at the end of the game, after killing of the ardra dragon - my fighters had superb armour.

Regrowth of plants
ArnoldRimmer replied to crutchy's topic in Pillars of Eternity: General Discussion (NO SPOILERS)
I think they do grow back after a while and there are traders who sell plants too... I wish you could decide which plants to grow in your stronghold botanical garden. I often need the plants needed for adding lashes to weapons - can't get enough of those. -
There are a lot of talents that I always use for my characters and some I don't often take and some rubbish that I will never take, especially in the utility talents section - I mean, who would ever take field triage??? I think it would be better to remove this crap and offer them to each character on creation, one for their area they come from and one for their background. I mean just the least used crap that no one in their right mind would take on leveling up Then you could offer talents* that would have something to do with the character and help role playing... those from the cold areas of the world could get a bonus against cold damage, mercenaries could get an extra weapon slot etc. or just let PCs choose 1 for the area choice and one for their background from a choice of more roleplaying based talents. * Maybe some of the modifier talenst/abilities in the defence section too.
