Also, ninjas don't have stripes on their pants. And they don't "jog". On the pic, it looks like brain matter has squirted out of his skull...

::Thinks of Afganistan, Earthquake ravenged areas of Pakistan and Sudan:: I think their to busy trying to stay alive to kick cans and bitch, but yes. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Would it be any different if such a powerful earthquake would hit a major city in a "developped" country? Would we feel just as unlucky as they do or would we feel more unlucky, or less?

That was going to be my next point. I lived for over 6 months in Indonesia, West Timor, in the late 80s. I travelled frequently on many of the islands and one thing that was both constant and surprising for a westerner like me was seeing how truly happy these "poor" people were. I would've given an arm to feel as happy as they seem to be. Luck, riches and happyness are very relative things imo.

Do people in 3rd world countries walk around moping at their bad luck?

Is this something you keep telling yourself to keep your personal morale up or something that you know for sure though? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> From internal QA, I think it is possible to climb the ladder. In theory, anybody can be a game designer. To be a good one though you need more knowledge of video games, something you can acquire a great deal of when doing QA. My main gripe is with external QA firm. Those I believe are dead ends for testers who want to go up in this industry. The only salvation that I can think of for external QA testers would be on-site testing. To have a possibilty of making some contacts outside of the external QA firm.

Please post more pics? Me likes dem purty pikdures.

I suppose on-site QA(external QA hired to test internally at dev/pub's offices) could have some reward, if one can suck enough behinds that is.

I actually went for an interview at Babel about 1 month before they opened. I didn't apply for the right job however(localization) and I failed the written test. They asked if I would be willing to do something else for them but I was very hesitant, because of my experience at Enzyme(I was project manager and learned that some of their business ethics were... questionable). Anyway, my reason for asking here is that, in order to get into the video games industry, external QA seemed to me as a dead end. Even internal QA, if you are not already well versed in video game making techniques such as programming, designing, etc AND have a buddy who has the power to promote you to the upper levels, it's a dead end. I've done both by the way. It's a cool job for school drop outs but can anyone really get into the door of a game dev through external QA? I seriously doubt it.

This one! Now be careful!!! You've been warned and I am sorry!

Yeah, ok. I had that coming.

Life expectancy is around 40-50 years of age. After that you are kept alive by doctors and pharmaceutical companies. Mostly. With exceptions. No? The poor countries are in that state mostly because of the west, who exploit and destroy the environment, polluting the water and making them sick, limiting ressources and territories causing wars. It's actually more complicated then that but in a nutshell, this is how it is I think. Luck is relative to the type of existence methinks. Example: For me, being lucky would be getting a raise this week, with a counter-balance of bad luck on something like my TV suddenly giving up on life(I'm relatively poor and getting a new TV would take some time...). For a child living in the "crappiest" of crap holes in Africa, being lucky could be finding an old tire to play with, followed by the bad luck of stepping on a rusty metal spike hidden in the sand. Are we all unlucky of not being God? Meh

Tired plot device (the two best assassins, one male and one female ... are hired, to kill each other! but instead, the fall in love) <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Wasn't Ecks vs. Sever, with Antonio Griffith and Lucy Liu the exact, same frakkin' thing? I didn't see that one mind you, because it is widely known as "one of the worst movies ever made in the existence of the universe and anyone who watches it have their IQ dropped by a few dozen points'.

I believe in balance. If one is incredibly lucky for one day, one will be incredibly unlucky another day. Or a bit unlucky for many days until the equivalent of the good luck has been matched with bad luck.

That site seems to be under construction. And the game isn't free. Although I wouldn't know for sure since none of the links on that page work for me. And yes, Another World was great.

Hello Due the recent popularity of the "favorites" threads, I thought I would cash in on this wave of goodness with my own. :D So, favorite songs, any genre, any band/artist. What songs move you, make you cry, make long lost memories resurface with great joys, etc. Mine are, in no particular order: Comfortably Numb - Pink Floyd Born to be my Baby - Bon Jovi Sultans of Swing - Dire Straits Thunderstruck - AC/DC Fat bottom Girls - Queen Born to be Wild - Steppenwolf Where the Streets Have No Name - U2
-
Wow. Thanks dude! This almost makes up for that Finnish music video you posted a few weeks ago. Almost.

AC/DC is my all time fav. And for everyone's enjoyment : Winger

Favorite rock bands: AC/DC Pink Floyd (not really rock but for some reason they are classified as a rock band by everyone, probably because of Another Brick in the Wall and possibly Money). Aerosmith (when they were high and/or drunk. In the late 70s/early 80s) The Tragically Hip (Best Canadian band EVAR!) Led Zeppelin Iron Maiden ( ) Guns & Roses Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers ZZ Top The Darkness (I could do without the vocals though...) Supertramp Dire Straits Genesis Styx So many others... :">

What happened to all the good space sims??

I've been looking for Star Wolves for a long time. I found the Demo very interesting although very flawed and buggy and I was hoping the finished product would be better. From its description on various game sites it was a very appealing game to me. Meh. -
Mr. And Mrs Smith. Craptastically bad. No plot, no ending, just guns and Angie's lips. Even Brad Pitt, a usually great actor, is very bland and forgettable. Mega Meh.

I started System Shock 2 yesterday. I was just trying it because I was never able to play it on WinXP for some reason. I had to reformat my HD this weekend so I installed it again to try it out and it works magnificiently. What a great game. Even after all those years it still plays and looks great(although humano

One word : MODS. Hey you can even get lightsabers if you want. Or play as a Predator hunting Aliens. You could also play around with the construction set. It's quite easy to use even if you don't know anything about scripting. You can start new games with different types of characters, like making a super stealth thief and go into Dagoth Ur really early. All you need is an invisibility item...

Damn straight, why do you think Locke thought it was soooo important to train Walt, hmm? But MIcheal wouldn't let him train with Locke and look what happened. An American without his gun is like Superman next to kryptonite. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> That makes no sense. Michael is American AND black. Why wouldn't he want Walt to train with guns? It's like asking a Klingon not to learn about honor.
