  1. Hello! (w00t) Well my new Hard drive seems to work fine but now I have a new problem. I can't play games! Yay! Apparently my Radeon 9600 doesn't support openGL anymore. In the Catalyst control center for the driver suite 7.1(most recent), when I go into the 3D settings panel, the 3Dpreview window doesn't work. When I'm lucky I get an error message that says it can't find the openGL driver to display the 3D animation in the window. When I'm slightly less lucky, the VPU recovery system kicks in and when I'm unlocky my monitor turns off and I need to reboot. (w00t) Any game that has 3D images and animation will crash as soon they are loaded(I tried Chronicles of Riddick and San Andreas). I tried other, older driver suites with the same results. In some cases I can't even launch the Catalyst Control Center. I've been looking everywhere for this problem, for ways to fix it and even diagnostic tools that could tell me what exactly is the problem. I've roamed forums and tech sites and I can't find anything. I've even fiddled a bit with the MoBo BIOS. Can anyone help me please?
  2. So that I don't have to reinstall everything if I need to format again.
  3. I forgot Doctor Who. Would've been #3 on my list. Easy.
  4. Ghost, clone, backup. I want an exact copy of my current hard drive on DVD(just because of space). I want to be able for that DVD to boot and copy all the contents of my current hard drive onto another so that I have an exact replica that works the exact same way. In case I loose my data again.
  5. 1- Battlestar Galactica 2- Rome 3- Heroes 4- Lost 5- Deadwood 6- Smallville 7- The Simpsons 8- South Park 9- Familly Guy 10- The News
  6. My wife completed Kingdom Hearts 2 last night at midnight.
  7. I've also taken breaks from FF12. It forces the player to do some major grinding to level up to pass the next step of the story and this from the very begining. And the story is too complicated and political. But I still love it. Whenever I turn on my PS2, it's to play FF12.
  8. I prefer blues rock. The dirtier the guitar sounds the better. AC/DC, George Thorogood, etc. I<m a bit ashamed of it but also love 80's airmetal. Bon Jovi, Scorpions, Ratt, Skid Row, etc. :">
  9. Im just curious, is this a home built system? Ive never seen a PC that didnt have a fan for the processor. IIRC, my rig has one for the power supply, one for the processor and one mounted directly on the video card (GE Force 6800) which I hadnt seen before until I bought it. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Lol ok. The only fan I don't have is a case fan. I do have one for the CPU and my vid card has a heatsink. Plus the PS fan. Anyway I bought a Western Digital 233Gb 7200rpm 8Mb Cache for 89$CAN which I think is a pretty good deal. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> $10 cheaper than what I've usually been able to find them for. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I suppose I'll know in about a week if I made the right choice. It's really amazing. First going from a meager 40Gb to almost five times that and second, the quietness of the thing. I never realized how noisy the other one was. ) EDIT: Anybody know of freeware application that will allow me to ghost my hard drive to a DVD? If my current drive messes up again I want to be able to format it(which I can now) and instead of reinstalling Windows, all I would have to do is insert the ghost DVD and it would boot and put my drive back where it belongs. Please?

  11. This thread is not really about the news article. It's more about a show involving a young Han Solo making his way in the galaxy, similar to the Young Indiana Jones Chronicles produced by GL in the 90's. Remember? So how would such a show work, what could it include, etc?
  12. If you are spending $100 on a hard drive and only getting 100GB then you need to do some searching. A quick search shows 80GB drives as low as $60* and 250GB at around $100*. *All approximate prices listed in Cdn dollars. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I found a 160GB at 85$. The 100Gb for 100$ was at Staples(Bureau en Gros, you're in Mtl, right?) and the same drive at Best Buy is 130$. Still, my point was that after I install the new drive, if the problem is still there I'm pretty much frakked.
  13. Here is a nice little article on George asking Han if he'd work for him again for 20Mil and Han said no way Jos
  14. I needed a hard drive anyway but I'm worried that the problem lies elsewhere. The drive will cost me at least 100$ and since I'm kinda poor I'd rather put that cash on the real problem.
  15. Hello, I've recently had some problem with my computer that led me to believe I had a major virus. So I did a full format of my 3-4 years old Maxtor 40gb drive. In one month, I did three such formats, all because of the same problem. I format using PowerMax, a tool for Maxtor drives that can also test the drive for various problems. During those tests I always get the same 8 digit error code. From the Powermax site I learned that an 8 digit code means I need to replace my hard drive because it is failing. So what is this problem? What happens is that after about 1 week from a format, my computer becomes very slow(this was the original symptom that made me believe I had a virus). When this happens, within about an hour my machine starts to reboot on it's own. The boot sequence goes all the way to the Windows Load screen, where the little progress bar is, and then reboots again. During the boot sequence I also get to choose if I can boot in safe mode or normally or with previous settings that work, etc and when I boot in safe mode, it passes the WinLoad screen and then it says it can't find the domain/user and ask for a password that never inputed during reinstallation of Windows. Because of all this, I believe I simply need to change my hard drive. My questions are: 1- Do I really need to change my Hard Drive? (If I can avoid the spending of currency, I will. The drive was fine before all this). 2- I have my sights set on a Maxtor 100Gb 7200rpm Ultra Series. Is this a good choice? 3- If my hard drive is shot, why does it go through the Windows Loading screen? 4- Could it be a heating problem? I don't overclock, I keep my case open at all times but the only fan I have is the one inside the power supply. Thank you for any info anyone can give me.
  16. I would hunt down Jar Jar and make myself a nice pair of shoes.
  17. "Intelligence and technology experts said such transmitters, if they exist, could be used to surreptitiously track the movements of people carrying the spy coins."
  18. Once upon a time there were the kids with XBox360s, and the kids with Wiis, who fought among themselves over who had the best system. And then there were the kids with PS3s who were looked on with disdain by everyone else.
  19. I thought Nolan directed The Illusionist. I was confused. :">
  20. I have a question! In the music industry, some artists will get a double platinum album even before it is released because the "sales" are based on what the music stores are ordering, what the stores are expecting to be able to sell, not on what the consumers actually buy. Is this the same in the console/video game industry?
  21. I used to love these "In retropect" bits but not anymore. It's been done too much. And by the way, don't you mean The Illusionist?
  22. Hmm. Everlasting Life... I would go to the bank and get a loan for 100 000 000 000$ over eternity. Then I'd buy a mysterious mountain that I would baptise Mysterious Mountain. On said mountain I would build a tower filled with the most devious and deadly devices ever conceived and at the top of my tower I would place a locked chest containing... 20 000 000 000$. Each 4 years I would have a tournament in which all world leaders would compete to reach the top of my tower, where I would wait patiently with the biggest axe by my side. Whoever could wield the axe well enough to break the chest would win it's content. Of course I would also carry a dagger for their back but lets keep this quiet shall we? Mouahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
  23. Wow I never heard of those. thanks for the links
  24. So am I and I'll probably join you in celebration. P.S. Maybe we can discuss philosophy and logic...
  25. Those "French Allies" are still in Canada by the way. :D
