  1. Didn't know that. So is deflection worthless then if you just try to stack as much armour instead? Are maces better than sabers?
  2. I didn't even know you could dual weild pistols. Pillars of firearms. Why am I even bothering trying to use melee weapons?
  3. The accuracy buff is one of few spells worth taking. Not sure why the might one needs to be so unnecessarily annoying.
  4. Well they were totally broken in pillars 1. I killed dragons and cleared maps just spamming iconic projection. Warding deal and projection appear to be nerfed into the abyss. Cipher is a wasteland of low duration and ****ty spells if it makes you feel better. Probably wizard got all the toys.
  5. These dudes must be pushing 60 accuracy too because they crit me like it's their full time job.
  6. I killed them with sabers last time. Guess I will head back to town and see if clubs make a difference. So charm is the way to go l guess. The only spell I picked up so far is Valor echos. Which almost seems worth the skill point. I tested out some of the cipher spells and I'm shocked at how worthless they are.
  7. Guess i got an unlucky encounter "roll" because ive beat them in other plays but it's completely impossible this time. The 3 melee guys are pushing 60 deflection. They cleave through my party like butter. I dunno about this game. Seems like im usually scumming the map and bad AI to win fights. Whats up with the ship battles where there's 20 guys shooting pistols at you? Whats a class that can actually handle this? Melee totally worthless? Maybe i need a party of all wizards.
  8. Did an edit of this for a more evil look (pale elf vampire?). Making a party of bleak walkers.
  9. I didn't buy the expansions. I would be interested in buying some fully polished finished product with all expansions/patchs. Does the game remain fun at higher levels now? I quit around level 7 because the difficulty was dropping on POTD. This was ages ago tho, im sure a lot has changed by now.
  10. I dont think bethesda's eternally rehashed garbage is a good example of why level scaling would suck. Im sure Pillars could do it better. Pillars has fun, addictive and tactical combat. Combat would still be fun even if its level scaled.
  11. It's baffling that the developers dont spend time on something that has already been built and widely available, and instead work on things that are needed and unavailable? Yeah, that's crazy pfft, ya you also have to update IE mod every time they patch the game.. Almost more baffling how badly they broke experience and refuse to fix it. Ya things so desperately needed like story time. give me a break.
  12. It adds nothing to the game aside from being a gold sink. The bounties are fine but that guy could easily be changed slightly and put into a tavern somewhere or whatever.
  13. I vote to go back in time and remove the stronghold stuff completely and spend that time somewhere meaningful like gameplay, class abilities, monster variety, balance, etc.
  14. So by your logic we should play with a full party until halfway through the game and then suddenly run around solo for the rest... sounds like a great idea! Totally not up to the game designers to make a challenging and fun game, no - we must handicap ourselves to varying degrees to create the right level of challenge. Yes, this is what everyone always parrots. Player agency, its your own fault if it gets too easy, blah blah blah. Hey can the devs just email me a list of all the ways I need to gimp myself so I can enjoy a challenging game? Just lazy developers IMO and the fan boys that cover their tracks. (I am not trying to just pick on pillars here, it happens in lots of games)
  15. Unfortunately. Said pattern needs to be taken out back and shot. Its so boring and played out in this day and age.
  16. No they can't. You aren't overlevelled by the time you leave Defiance Bay. Look at the diagram in the TO. I was about level 7/8 when I completed Def Bay, which I consider intentional, due to chapter 3 and 4 being rather short. Also, I didn't finish the game much later than when I hit max level. The XP is properly balanced now. The encounters are not. This is completely false, at least when I played the game. I used the IE mod to increase the exp required to level by 50% (on POTD) and the game felt totally fine and a lot better. Even still a bit too easy for my tastes. If you're a completionist the game just hands you buckets full of exp and gold. And you also realize that you can do dyrford right out of the gate right? I was doing those quests at level 4. Im really disappointed that they chose to let the bar slide to the left for "story time" crap or whatever it's called instead of allowing the bar to slide to the right for "nightmare get rekt mode". Oh well.
  17. I would love a one time switch. Just let us slide the difficulty bar one more to the right. The hardest: Same as path of the damned but all experience reduced by 50%. Gold from selling items reduced 75%. Enemies HP increased a further 20%. Food duration divided by 10. Done. Game fixed.
  18. Ach come on - you can never please them all. the awkward part isnt my only problem. What about Act 1 and Act 2? I was face rolling the game, did 9 levels of old nua and did all the high level bounties in Act 1. So I will ask again. Why don't we get an upscale for the whole game?
  19. That autoscale popup seems really awkward. Couldn't there just have been a harder difficulty after POTD added, or an option to autoscale the whole game?
  20. Well you answered it then. Backstab with dual wielding probably isn't worth spending the point. It would probably still be viable with sabres. lol sigh. arquebus. Sounds cheesy. The whole guns thing just doesn't do it for me. I would not really give a crap if all the guns were removed from the game.
  21. Id love to see options to nerf the exp table, and options to slightly or heavily nerf gold received from selling stuff.
  22. A popular mod called IE Mod allowed for reduced XP as one feature. It will likely be updated for the upcoming game version. Yes, I was using that with 50% nerfed exp table. The progression felt about right (although IMO it could stand to be even a little slower). Im baffled that the developers refuse to just put that option into the base game. Vanilla exp gain is just way too broken.
  23. Why? I find it refreshing to have a fantasy combat system that acknowledges this key real-world distinction. I didn't think it was that wonderful. They should have gone with a regular hit points system. This one is strange, confusing at first, doesnt really add anything of value and it promotes rest spamming. Its like they tried to fix something that wasn't broken. If they wanted to add a second resource to manage it should have been endurance for combat moves and sustained abilities.
