  1. I never tried backstab because when i was playing this game individual stealth wasn't in yet. I cant remember, is backstab a full attack? if you're dual wielding do both swords strike with the damage bonus or only one? If its not a full attack then it's only really worth it to backstab with an estoc.
  2. There is encounter difficulty scaling now. I find i spend the cash on respecs anyway. That sounds interesting. Scaling for the whole game or just the Xpacs? How does it work? Does it keep the game challenging throughout with POTD + level scaling?
  3. I did them on POD at level 5 using cheesy priest spells
  4. Correct me if Im wrong but it sounds like it will be getting even easier with even more overpowered resting bonuses being added. Will there be any option added for reduced exp and reduced gold for those of us who like a challenge?
  5. Two handed kind of sucks for paladin. Flames of devotion is a full attack ability meaning to get full value out of it you need to dual wield. Dual sabers if you want max DPS. Or if you want high deflection and still good offense. Dual hatchets. Dump int. Int is useless except for aura radius. Even with low int you can still get a decent aura radius by using an overseeing ring and the boots that increase aura radius. I would never take intense flames. 1 point for only +25% is really really terrible value.
  6. The crazy thing is when the games are released they arnt even close to finish. I'll call the directors cut the finished wasteland. How long did that take? 2 years? Wake me up in 2 years when pillars directors cut come out.
  7. I'm not. You might. But it's your predicament, I can't see why the game should limit this. You can also kill backer NPCs for quick cash, should that be removed too now that many builds depend on it? And, more importantly, I still don't understand what the big deal is I didn't sell NPC equipment and I rolled in credits after hitting act 2 anyway. If not having money is your thing in PRGs, well... I suppose Pillars is not the game for you Yes. The killing of backer NPCs should be removed. Or provide an option to remove all of them. I'll google. That mod has probably already been made. And yes the game gives out waaaaay too much money. I'm sorry I'd actually like to feel a sense of accomplishment when I save up enough money to buy a nice piece of gear. Not buy out entire stores and upgrade half the stronghold by level 6. That will be my next thread. Will exp and gold be addressed? At first I thought it was awesome that I could for example take Eder's armor and put it on my main character. But in hindsight I think it is hurting the game a bit.
  8. Credits rolled in my head once i hit act 2 and i quit and started looking for another game. Lol
  9. If it breaks your immersion then don't do it? It breaks my immersion for my character to steal from every container I find, so I don't steal from every container I find. It breaks my immersion for my character to murder the backer NPC in Gilded Vale to get plate early, so I don't kill the backer NPC in Gilded Vale. I even don't think it's in character for character to steal companion gear and sell it or use it on someone else so, guess what, I don't. The only person who ever wore Eder's armour in my latest game was Eder, and I never sold it even after Eder started wearing better armour. I even kept Durance equipped with his staff throughout the game, even though he rarely ever used it in combat, because him not having it equipped broke my immersion. But here's the thing, I don't feel the need to have these restrictions imposed on everyone else playing PoE. If someone doesn't care then why shouldn't they give Aloth's unique armour to their Barbarian to increase their carnage AoE? It doesn't mean you have to. I need to write myself a list of stuff I can't do to prevent the game from breaking basically. OK. I'll add it to don't use food, knockdown spells, etc.
  10. You're right. I haven't played in awhile. It should be split into 3 skills. Lock picking. Trap disarming. And Find hidden objects. Anything else we forgot mechanics does?
  11. @fenixp Not really. In many cases you are just looting them and moving the stuff onto your made character/characters or selling it to trade up for really powerful items like the blunting belt or magical stiletto. For any npc you don't even plan to use it is literally free ****.
  12. This. By the end of the game I had a fully upgraded stronghold, owned every unique item for sale that I wanted and I still had over 200,000cp spare. There's very little to be gained from selling your companions starting gear. Now I made a self-imposed restriction to only use the unique gear companion's started with on them, so only Eder ever wore the Saint's War Armour, and only Kana ever wore his turban, but actually hard coding this into the game seems a bit over the top. Nothing to be gained? There's all kinds of powerful equipment you can buy in the early game. What are you talking about? Hard coding that over the top? Practically every other RPG has this.. I'm playing wl2 right now and guess what. I can't steal Angela s wrench. At release I thought wl2 was garbage but the directors cut is winning me over. Pillars needs work.
  13. You obviously haven't tested POE very much. Plenty of spells are borderline broken.
  14. Well you could always just replace the magical estoc with a regular one. I think I use the gun on kana usually anyways. I still think all of the stuff should be nonmagical.
  15. If you kill them, make it so the item dont drop or say "only useable by Eder". etc. You know if you just go around recruiting everyone and selling their magical gear you make like 5k gold? (I dont know if its actually 5k,but it's a lot). Which is an oversight in my opinion. The special gear they have (Saints war mail for example) should DEFINITELY only be usable by that NPC. The rest of their gear IMO should be downgraded to nonmagical stuff so I cant go and pawn Kana's magical Estoc for stupid amounts of early game gold.
  16. Im saying that you should not beable to do whatever you want with your NPCs gear.
  17. Mechanics should be split into two different skills. lock picking and trap disarming. The game definitely does not need any more resting bonuses.
  18. "that's mine, hands off" "dont touch" "look with your eyes not with your hands" etc. Am I right?
  19. Absolutely agree. I am unsure why they chose this direction and I do not know how they can reverse it at this point without a lot of general flack from players. However if they made modding more accessible or if the iemod folk come through with something miraculous we can go in and gut the overall drop rates. I hope so... Because it is very demotivating for me when I get so much stuff I actually start getting annoyed when I see yellow objects. They shouldn't have this much stuff in the game until at least the second expansion when you can get to a incredibly powerful state as a character. I honestly feel like I am playing in cheat mode. This is how I feel about it too. But back to the topic of merchant restocking.. Shouldnt you have to work for your high level gems? Loot it from a dead dragon's treasure horde for example. Not buy them from some guy in the docks district that apparently has a never ending supply. I also bought my whole party suits of exceptional leather armour because the guy in dyrford restocks it. It felt like armour of that quality should be a one of. Sorry for bumping this old thread. I made it then forgot to check back.
  20. It is not a huge thing. And you can always impose restrictions on yourself and not use food. Personally I get annoyed when i have to use too many restrictions... Anyway, just putting it out there - something they might want to look over again for next xpac, or pillars 2, etc.
  21. I already explained the problems with it but I will go over it again. 1. the bonuses are insane. +2 strength +2 dex +2 con and a whole bunch of endurance for example if you consume multiple meals. 2. the duration is huge. 3. eating some steak is better than drinking a magical potion in most cases. this annoys me. 4. it makes an already easy game easier. 5. its kind of dumb and makes no sense. a magical hat is fine but becoming the hulk after eating a steak is a little dumb. Ok, you think the magical hat is just as dumb as the steak. We will have to agree to disagree on this one. 6. the vendors restock the raw materials and those materials cost next to NOTHING. Meaning you can craft unlimited food with no sacrifices.
  22. Aside from not being believable the huge bonuses are overpowered. It makes a massive difference in combat when it shouldn't. They don't let you prebuff with spells so I'm not sure why they put in those huge overpowered food bonuses. And the game doesn't need it because even on potd it is too easy. And why does food give better bonuses than potions? Why not make food restore health? It would still be useful but not game breaking. That would give food a useful niche since at the moment there is no way to restore health besides resting. Resting bonuses could have their own thread. Imo resting bonuses are just as dumb as food bonuses and should be axed. Sorry but think up something else for the stronghold
