  1. Enough for a Black Jacket to empty his 8 blunderbusses.
  2. For 10 damage you get 1 wound (as a non-Shattered Pillar). With Lesser Wounds you only need to receive 8 damage for a wound. So - same as in PoE. A Shattered Pillar has to deal 20 damage to gain 1 wound. With Lesser Wounds it's 15 damage. Last time tested in beta4. I don't know why this isn't mentioned in the ability description. I guess they wait with that until they are sure they won't tweak things anymore.
  3. Yes, also good - +5 damage per hit with 0 recovery is good as well. Just know that Vulnerable Attack only works with the initial hit, not the AoE "blast".
  4. https://naijaro.github.io/poe-speed-calculator/ Use pike and check the box for speed enchantment (Citzal's has speed). You don't need any DEX to reach 0 recovery. As you can see with the calculator, you need Gauntlets of Swift Action to reach 0 recovery with the Spirit Lance (with DaoM). If you do so you can also wear durganized padded armor (or robes of course) because the Gauntlets give you a tiny bit too much attack speed.
  5. Some guesses: Bloody Slaughter? On the Edge (Streetfighter's +100% crit damage)?
  6. Gauntlets: yes Blackwarden's Breast: yes Weapon: all mentioned no Talents: all mentioned no Gallant's Focus: yes Survival: don't know for sure anymore, but I guess no. Slay the Beast chant: yes
  7. Crippling Strike or something similar will do.
  8. - open console - type "iroll20s" <enter> - type "spawnPrefabAtMouse cre_dummy" <enter> enjoy
  9. First of all: I never said or meant that I don't like rogues in PoE. I like them. I only said that they are the weakest class in PoE. Mainly because they fall behind in the mid to late game due to the lack on any AoE and no multiplicative damage mods like lashes or whatever. Doesn't matter... The rogue in Deadfire interrupts with every active ability on it (correct Gromnir), which is great. He's is not as squishy, has even more tools to avoid damage (I like the immunity to engagement after a crit but think Escape is too expensive) and can turn invisible multiple times per encounter (cool and useful). That's on the plus side. What I don't like about the new rogue is that he has a lot of active abilites (most of them a bit unimpressive if you don't abuse them - like Arterial Strike or Confounding Blind) that compete for guile but are not very distinct and that he only has a few interesting passives. At the moment he plays very well as a "behind enemy lines" striker who can lock down and kill casters very quickly. As Gromnir said, he's very useful against the Engwithan Saints. Of course atm a rogue feels a lot better in a multiclass setup because Power Level doesn't do a lot for him and his good abilites (most importantly Sneak Attack and Backstab) come pretty early and can be combined with multiplicative lashes. And since we can't see what comes past lvl 9 we can't be sure if a single class rogue will be equal in power to a multiclass one. I really hope that some of the stuff that got data-mined is an ability that gives the rogue a lash (be it raw damage from poison or corrosive or whatever) so that his additive dmg mods scale better in the late game.
  10. Swashbuckler = Fighter/Rogue. Doesn't matter which subclass is involved. So of course you can make a Black Jacket/rogue. Especially if you want to destroy bosses' deflection completely you can take Confunding Blind for your first weapon set of blunderbusses and then fire the remaining 3 pairs of blunderbusses on the same target. You will reduce the deflection by 30 if I recall correctly (if he/she doensn't die from being shot itself). What's also a good pick for Black Jacket Gunslinger as second class is obviously Sharpshooter because of the increased PEN, the (accurate) wounding shots and also because of Driving Flight - and slower recovery doesn't matter while switching guns. Also the pet helps to keep enemies away from you. I have no idea why the guy in the vid put MIG at 10 for a weapon build though...
  11. When I look at the Soulbound dagger in the beta I don't expect too much goofyness. Also there weren't any goofy things in the beta I know of. In PoE the goofiest thing I can remember was the Disappointer. But who knows - maybe Eothas is just on his way to becoming a great Stand-up Comedian...
  12. He said that based on data that didn't include beta4, only beta1-beta3. Fact. Also it doesn't matter that much if they are lowest dps - what matters is if they are useful or not. In beta4 rogues got interrupt abilities for all their strikes (great improvement) as well as more ability points for single classes. Also Assassination/Backstab from invisibility was fixed as well as Backstabs with ranged weapons. So now we can only guess what telemetry says about ne new rogue.
  13. Monk/Cipher is a solid choice. When taking Shattered Pillar you can fill two pools while doing damage. When taking another monk you can gain wounds when getting hit and focus when hitting. Also Thunderous Blows + Hammering Thoughts stack for +3 PEN. Sharpshooter/Monk is great with Long Pain because of +PEN/+ACC and Driving Flight - but with a Pollaxe ("polearm"?) I don't see that much synergy other than with the Stalker's bonuses.
  14. Good lord Eothas - I just did said Fury/Helwalker combo as Nature Godlike with Heart of the Storm & Thunderous Blows (Thund. Blows triggers Wellspring of Life) starting into the fight with dual scepters with Destructive Channeling to get some wounds. I have +5 PEN at lvl 9. Returning Storm lasts a long time with INT bonuses and has 14.5 PEN - I get ~40 shock damage out of it on hits. Once this is running I can use Storm's Rage which also has 14 PEN and gave me crits over 100 shock damage. The natural weapon hits for around 40 damage + 30 damage (jump). I used Two Handed Style which applies. By the way: the jump also hits the initial target if there's no secondary - making it quite potent in 1:1 situations. They also profit from Heart of the Storm! I added and removed Heart of the Storm during combat and the shock weapon of the FUry instantly gains/loses 1 PEN. Also Dancing Bolts hits quite hard with 14 PEN. I can't get Duality to work though. Would prolong my storms and shifting more. Granted - this would also work well with an Animist. He would lose a bit of range and 1 PEN compared to a Fury (with weapons and spells). By the way I also checked if Firebrand gets +1 PEN from Scion of Flame - and it does! It seems that weapons with physical damage + elemental lashes do not, but weapons which do elemental damage primarily do profit! Hence Fury's natural weapons and Firebrand profit while other shifters' natural weapons + Wildstrike will not.
  15. Did you try it in beta4? Because the shorter casting times and the +2 PEN make a difference. Also: Fury's increased reach (20%) + Far Cast stack. Edit: I made a mistake when theorycrafting about Fury/Helwalker: Furies can't have healing spells.
  16. Just cast an affliction on an inspired party member I guess?
  17. It's beta4 (you can see it at the start of the vid in the upper right corner). And it is indeed an Assassin/Bleak Walker - those where always nice. They got nerfed a bit because of the weaker Assassination and the reduced FoD damage - but the key synergy is the twofold increased ACC and the crit damage + Sneak Damage, combined with two multiplying FoD lashes that make this combo strong. You nearly always crit with that combo (unless you use Rending Smash). It can one-shot enemies from stealth/invisibility because of that and is also quite sturdy (for an Assassin). I suspect a SC Assassin will not be as effective - at least not until the late game.
  18. Not much. Skalds need melee crits in order to get phrases faster. Furies have a ranged attack when shifted. Of course you could either skip melee crits and just rely on the lower cost for offensive invocations and/or skip the shifting with the Fury and it will still work somehow. But that's not really good synergy. Also Spirit of Decay and so on do not work with chanter invocations becaause those are labeled with "offensive invocation" only but lack keywords like "electricity" or "forst" on invocation like "Thrice She was Wronged" or "Seven Nights" which do electricity and frost damage. Maybe this will get adressed in another patch. Josh said that this is not right - but who knows what they can fix until May 8th? Troubadour/Fury could be nice because you could stay ranged - and stuff like Sure Handed Ila + Mith Fyr will be a great combo for your ranged attacks. If you kill an enemy while in shifted form you get more shift duration. With Sure Handed Ila and Mith Fyr you'd have two parallel phrases that increase your (and your party's) dps significantly while you use your natural weapons. In general Fury is great with the new beta4: A fury gains +1 PEN for all the elemental druid spells AND can take the elemental PEN abilites like Scion of Flame and so on. That's +2 PEN with your chosen elemental spells (either if you focus on one element or take multiple of the elemental PEN abilites). Since both are passive, they should stack with something like Tenacious (+5 MIG, +2 PEN). Speaking of Tenacious: I think multiclassing with a Monk (pref. Helwalker for the immense MIG bonus) is a good idea. You can stack +4 PEN on your elemental spells with Thunderous Blows, gain +30% shocking lash and +20% speed (stacks with Sure Handed Ila) on your fury attacks with Lightning Strikes and using Duality of Mortal Presence and Enlightened Agony to buff INT - those are great synergies. Even if a single class fury might be better (?), it surely will be effective. I didn't test it yet though - just theorycrafting. Also Long Stride and one good healing spell should make it easier for the Helwalker part to survive.
  19. I've only heard rumors, but "in the old days" they had some rough stuff going on here - or so I heard/read. One example: Couple reasons. 1: The community here is a little too .... "passionate" if you get what I mean. It can get very very negative at times, and bogged down in some seriously heinous long winded debates about the most anal details. You know, like playing D&D or Warhammer with RPG nerds. 2: Something Awful is a far more "professional" site. You have to pay for membership for example. So it has a lot more people in the gaming (and other) industries in it. It is policed VERY heavily, and typical forum troll behavior will get you permanently banned in a New York minute. It is not your typical web forum basically, it really is a higher class of poster. All that said Sawyer will still post here sometimes if a particular topic gets his attention and he wants to clarify, or if he sees something really cool he wants to give a nod to. Just trust that Obsidian, and Sawyer by extension, are reading basically everything you post here about Deadfire.
  20. Right. Nobody read that part with "Titan and dungeon 1+2" I guess. But at the moment overkill damage is also included in the log if I'm not mistaken? I beta3 the orlan merc rogue was severely underpowered. I didn't do a complete party run with a SC rogue in beta4 - so maybe this has indeed changed. I can see that a SC Streetfighter is way better now. I personally like playing a rogue the "backstabby" way - so I imagine with stealth & invisibility you can do some serious stuff. I don't care if the time while I'm invisible is costing me dps. If I can reach my target unharmed and unhindered and then one-shot it that's effective. I have to move to enemies anyway and it doesn't matter if that is done invisible or not (when talking about dps loss). What I don't like is stuff like Escape if it's used for fleeing. Doesn't really work if your recovery is 6+ seconds after a backstab because of suggested thick armor and the necessary great sword or arquebus (stupid) and so on.
  21. I've seen tons of constructive and not so constructive criticism over the last years. Especially from long time players. And saying that Josh gets worshipped here... I guess Josh's pastrami sandwich will fallout of his mouth if he reads that. There's a reason why he's not posting here anymore. No question PoE was plagued with lots of bugs at the start - and it still is. Most of them where/are not severe though but just an annoyance. With severe I mean that can't continue to play. So judging by that, game crushing bugs are no reason to wait with the first playthrough of Deadfire. Experiences of other players may differ. And of course the question itself is a valid one. But I doubt you would have chosen the same thread title. Something like "Will you start playing at release day?" would have been most people's approach I guess. But that wouldn't have been Sonic.
  22. I think that's the reason why stuff like FoD was nerfed from 50% to 30%.
