My loving wife got us both 6 month game time cards so I ended up playing the new patch after all. The new flashpoint was decent but maybe a little long and definitely too railroaded. It's still very buggy and I had the first boss fight reset about 4 or 5 times on me. I think it may have had something to do with one of the boss knockback skills but I'm not 100% on that. It's also laggy which hurt my enjoyment a bit and I don't think it's me since I have been able to run the game on max flawlessly since 2 computer upgrades ago and I don't think it's my connection because it was solidly just under a gig for my whole having session, at least according to my ISP and their tools. I guess we're supposed to grind this FP for the new currency until the next update but I've found my patience at grinding these things isn't what it used to be. The story still makes no sense

That's pretty lame. I'm glad I didn't buy it yet. It's decent for what it is and if they can build on it next year and make it like NBA2K's seasons long plots and stories I can see buying the game for that mode alone. Right now it's closer to the year Spike Lee did the story but with more interactivity and it doesn't transition into a regular career mode like that one did. The ultimate team mode had been expanded a lot of that's something you're into and so far the career mode seems the same as it had been for the last few games. I'd say if you don't normally but the new Madden every year as soon as it comes out then Longshot mode on its own isn't worth breaking that habit

Nope, it's completely separate. Well, except for the MUT content which I haven't unlocked yet because I don't really play the ultimate team mode. You don't play a real game of football for the story mode either just QTEs, challenges, and minigames. The story is just your journey to the draft as a college dropout.

I was thinking more along the lines of a game with where you are an up and coming musician and your party could be the band and roadies or groupies or something and instead of combat you could play shows or something. I don't actually have a fleshed out game complete with all the mechanics in my head but I was just thinking of something different. Dunno if it'd have much appeal beyond me but I'd be all over something like that

Nearly done with the new Longshot mode in Madden 18. The gameplay is different than I expected as you have less control over your character than you do in the NBA 2K series and there are a lot of QTEs that pop up both in conversations and on the field. I'm told it plays similar to some of the Telltale games but since I've never played them I can't confirm that comparison. It's fairly short and I'm not sure if it segues into a career mode yet after you finish the story. The main character is a little angsty and whiny and but when he's not throwing himself a pity party I thought he was interesting enough and decently acted. You can keep tabs on your progress with the scouting report but I'm doing pretty terrible as I'm at the draft now but my score is like 2.0/10. I kinda feel like you need to play it more than once to be decent at it since it plays so different from anything else. There is also a little bit of memorization and football knowledge that you get tested on that I wasn't expecting and totally bombed the memory bits but just being a football fan helped with the foosball quiz bits but if you aren't very familiar with some of the intricacies of the sport then you may have some issues as a super casual sports fan. Well, lemme get back to it Just finished. No real desire to play it again right away but that it is so short makes me think I may return to it in the near future to see if anything changes with better performance and/or difference decisions. Looks like the only continuation is in Madden Ultimate Team and not career mode even though Devin Wade, the guy you play in Longshot, is the default player.

It's okay that the Night King now has a dracowight because now that we've gone full Hollywood I have little doubt that Qyburn will somehow construct a giant mechanical spider

My hair grows super quick but not very long. Same with facial hair. I don't shave at all with a razor since getting out of the military so I just stubble around and five o clock shadow like a boss... or middle management at least

Thought about playing again since a new story update is coming out but after patching the feeling had passed. I did check out the data mining to find out who the traitor was and I have no idea how that makes any sense. Oh well. Skipping this update too. Maybe I'll come back for 6.0 as all these 5.x updates are kinda disappointing.

Watched the first half of the Defenders. I'm liking it a lot so far but I can't yet tell if Iron Fist is that much different because I was already annoyed by him in the very first scene but am much less so now. I dunno if I just got used to him, he got better, or the additional characters are breaking things up enough that it doesn't matter.
